  • How long should I shadow a doctor for?

Would it be reasonable to shadow a doctor once a week over the course of the summer?

I am not sure what is considered a standard amount of time for shadowing. If you have any other advice regarding the shadowing process please let me know

  • Do you know this poem?

So i've been trying to find a poem that I loved in 8th grade online for quite sometime now with no luck. I'm hoping someone on here will be able to help.

All I remember from the poem is the general idea of it. People go to the gate of the community and there is a man at the gate he asks why they've left their old town and they respond with some negative aspect of the people there. The old man replies that they will find those people here (in the new town) too and they continue walking. The last person in the poem responds with a positive aspect about the people in the last town and the old man again says you will find those people here too and the person enters.

Any idea what poem it is or how I could go about finding it?

  • Do you have an answer to this philosophical riddle?

Three philosophers (2 sighted, one blind) are led into a totally dark room. On a table there are five hats (3 red, 2 blue. the philosophers have this information). Each philosopher chooses a hat and places it on his own head so that he cannot see it. They are all led back out into the sunlight and placed in a line of sight of each other. The first sighted philosopher is asked if he knows the color of his hat. He answers NO. The second sighted philosopher is asked if he knows the color of his hat. He answers NO. The BLIND philosopher is asked about his hat. He answers YES. He says it is what color? Is he correct?

  • College Application Question?

I was born with a hearing loss and while I will not need any special accommodations on campus I feel that this is an important part of me that admission officers should know about. However, I feel that there are more important things for me to write my essay on. Here is the question: Is there anyway, besides the essay, to let admission officers know about this?

    Thank you in advance.

  • Oppinions on SAT score versus PSAT?

So for my PSAT I did what I consider very well,a 1910, and this was with reading a whole college board SAT prep book and doing some of the tests. So before the SAT I simply did another practice test. I scored 80 points lower, an 1830, I have no idea if a drop like this is normal and would this score be considered good?I had decided before I even saw my score that I would be taking again and I plan to do more studying from the book beforehand this time.

So is a drop like this is normal and would this score be considered good?

    Thanks in advance

  • Did you know?

So I already posted this question in the religion & spirituality category, but I figured it would be a good idea to let more people in on it.

There is now a new search engine that will donate money to a charity of your choice for every search you make? The site is called: http://www.goodsearch.com/ It is powered by Yahoo and is 100% free to the user. After your search you are then able to view how much money your charity has recieved. The search engine is just as good as yahoo or google and even better it actually does something good. With Thanksgiving around the corner its a great time of year to realize all that we have and try to help those less fortunate. This site provides a simple way to help others. Happy searching and have a great Thanksgiving if you're in the US!

There are hundreds of charities to chose from and you can add any non profit organization of your choice. It just must first be reviewed by the site to make sure that it is a real organization.

  • New skates?

I have used my Bauer vapor 10's for about 6 years now and I got them used so wear and tear has taken its toll. I am looking for similar skates that are relatively inexpensive. I will be skating in them everyday so they would need to be durable as well. Any suggestions?

  • Unweighted GPA calculation?

My school only calculates our weighted GPA, but on the college site I am looking at they only mention the average unweighted GPA of freshmen.

My question is this: I have a 3.68 weighted GPA taking one honors course, what would that translate to unweighted?

    Thanks

  • State test scores?

I just got my CAPT test results in the mail today (standard test given in Connecticut) and I scored advanced in all four levels of study. I'm pretty sure that means I will graduate as a CAPT scholar, but I'm not positive. My question is this, do these results mean anything to colleges? As in will this help me when I apply, or will they not even notice it? Thanks in advance

  • When are you supposed to start applying to colleges?

I am going to be a junior this year and am unsure of when I am supposed to strart applying. I saw one answer on here to a previous question that said during junior year, I always thought it was at the begining of senior year, but I could be wrong.

  • What are my chances?

I am going to be a high school junior next year so college has been on my mind. Last year my GPA was about a 3.65, I play ice hockey, I am part of my local peer ministry, and a volunteer group called pilgrim fellowship. I have recieved a sportsmanship award for hockey (not sure that really matters) and an academic excellance award for English. I will be taking honors English next year and all level 1 classes and I plan to take Spanish along with all the other major courses all 4 years.

So my question is this, with my record what are my chances of getting into Providence College? Are there certain things I can do to better my chances?

  • the mexican boarder?

Last night on the Glenn Beck show i was hearing about a group called The Zetas, who are a terrorist organization that the Mexican government admits controls a good portion of their country. The zetas have captured boarder patrol agents, beheaded them, put rewards out for anyone who kills a boarder patrol agent, and have said that they plan to take control of the boarder. This being said wouldn't it seem that we should first secure the boarder and then worry about the people already here?

This year i am participating in the relay for life to raise money for the American Cancer Society. I figured that this would be a good way to get people involved that otherwise might not be able to. So if you were interested in donating to the American Cancer Society then put this web address into your browser:

    https://www.kintera.org/faf/donorReg/donorPledge.a...

and if you are woried that this is not legitamet then feel free to browse the site if that will reassure you.
