I am an experienced back packer and hiker, and am looking to send my nephew to a camping skills school as a gift, I find it very frustrating when looking into schools or training camps that they don't give an equipment list up front, as not only wpould it help to get ready, but also give a clue as to what the focus of there teachings will be. Any one have a clue as to why they don't list things to bring?

I am 5'10 inches tall, and with the seat backs in an upright position, I can only bend over about 45 degrees before my head hits the seat in front of me. No way can an average person sit the way the safety cards show.The average size person cannot assume the safest position required by the airlines. Is there a reasonable death rate rule airlines are allowed as far as safety concerns go? I am male. I have asked counter girls and friends, but are there rules of thumb to follow? I have a square face and of average hight, heavy build. If there is a fashion site or buying guide for hats on line, that could give hintson materials and brim sizes and crown hights, it would be very helpfull.

I know it runs near many towns, and I think this town has a big hikers celebration every year. If I recall correctly, the town is in Virginia.

Many publishers say they will not accept previously published manuscripts, poems, stories, etc., and that submissions that have been posted on web pages or internet sites are considered "previously published". does this include parts of letters that have bee on web sites that have been incorperated into stories (not on the internet) that someone wants to submit?
