Are ordinary people in US obsessed with Mothers and God?
It seems that way to people in other countries when they see and listen to ordinary Americans on TV.
1 AnswerOther - Cultures & Groups9 years agoNetball became Basketball and Rounders became Baseball. Why pick girls games?
Netball and Rounders are two young and teenage 'girl' sports in England. Why did the USA turn them into games for males. Do you realize we Brits find it very amusing! Also, if your American Football came from British Rugby, why do you strap on so much protection - it also looks rather girlie.
13 AnswersBaseball10 years agoThere is a correct order to mount service medal ribbons. What is it please?
My father, who was in the RN before and during WW2, threw his WW2 medals into the dustbin back in the late 60s because he felt that this country was not the country he had fought for (God knows what he'd say now!). I want to replace them and pass them on to one of his grandchildren but I know that there is a distinct order of display.
He had: 1939-45 Star, Atlantic Star, Pacific Star, War Medal 1939-45, General Service (GVI) with Palestine (pre-war) clasp, RN Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (GVI), and the Distinguished Service Medal (GVI).
Also, there is an Atlantic Bar and a Pacific Bar. What is the significance of these?
Many thanks in advance

Since changing my computer I don't think Norton is protecting my new one although they have taken my money. I can find no mention of Norton in the list of programs. Please can someone tell me how I can contact them. I can find no address, tel no, or email address.
3 AnswersSecurity1 decade agoWhen was FIDO invented (Fog dispersal at RAF bases)?
At RAF Manston in 1939/40 we were aware of fog dispersal methods. But FIDO was not officially invented until approx 1944. So what did I see in 1939?
1 AnswerMilitary1 decade agoTo the OLDIES! If you were evacuated during WW2, were you subsequently very cold towards your parents for ever?
I know I was.
But didn't connect the two events until much later in life. I was 6 when I was sent from Kent to wonderful Wales.
Two ex-wives told me, without having known that the other had said the same thing, 'Your Mother never realised what harm was done by sending you away at 6.'
1 AnswerOther - Family & Relationships1 decade agoBritain didn't win WW1 or WW2. Its help from the USA made it possible?
So many British people think that WE won WW2. Surely without the massive help we obtained from the USA we would've been swamped.
20 AnswersOther - News & Events1 decade agoWhy don't I like the USA. But like every American I have met?
In the UK, the USA seems bigoted, childish, too emotional and publicly over-religious. Yet every American I have ever met (I am 76) has been charming - and totally likable
13 AnswersOther - Cultures & Groups1 decade agoIf a house was destroyed or damaged by enemy action in WW2, did the government pay compensation?
Perhaps your parents or grandparents may know the answer!
I was a kid at the time, and questions like this didn't occurr at the time. But I have often wondered since. Many thanks in advance for your help.
2 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoDuring WW2 did a PoW have his pay stopped, or reduced?
My father's ship was sunk in the Mediterranean in 1942. After 3 hours he was picked up by Italians and became a Prisoner of War. Immediately my mother had to get a job, for the first time in their marriage, and I was sent to stay with relations. It wouldn't surprise me at all if our generous country reduced, or stopped a prisoner's pay as he wasn't playing any further part in the war. I was only 9 when it happened - and the question didn't occurr to me until a few years ago. Many thanks in advance.
4 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoPLEASE! How do you find the answer to a question that you've asked?
Surely you don't have to scroll down the hundreds of questions that are asked every hour, to find your original question? I have answered 100s in the last few months, but don't know how to get an answer to one of MY questions.
