  • gps as a speedometer?

it's going to cost me a couple hundred bucks to fix the speedo in my car, so I was wondering if a gps would work. More specifically, would it update quickly enough to be usefull in town. My old handheld takes way too long, so if you are slowing for a lower speed zone you don't know how much you've slowed until well after you enter the zone. Are the newer dash mounted units quicker?

  • reminiscing about my old bikes?

after reading an earlier question about a $50 bike, I got to thinking about all those old bikes that I used to have. Between the ages of about 12-25 I probably had close to ten different bikes that I would buy for little or nothing, and then spend most of my time trying to keep them going with gasket sealer and odd parts I could find at scrapyards.

My best experience was with a Yamaha that i was given because "it was a piece of junk, and would never run again". I filed the points, and it started right up and ran perfectly for a year before I decided to try jumping it over a small creek.

I had a couple that never left the garage, but taught me how many extra parts you end up with after you "rebuild" the engine.

Anyone else remember those old bikes of their past?

  • My dog is a bit of a drinker?

I have a 5mo old bulldog mix who can't seem to get enough water. If I fill his dish he will drink till it's gone, or he can't fit any more in him. Any time I go to the sink he gets excited that he may be getting more water, and when he's outside he eats a lot of snow.

I limit his intake, but I get nervous sometimes wondering if he actually needs more. I don't think he's getting dehydrated, because, with the exception of his first morning pee, his urine is virtually clear.

I mentioned it to the vet, but she didn't seem concerned. Any one else experience something similar?
