Scenic Painters! How do you prevent water-damaged paint from coming up?
At the theatre I work at, we just closed up Singing in the Rain, and after every performance there was always a flood that would come out from under the platforms slowly over the few hours after it rained. So basically, every night for almost two weeks, the stage has been soaking in water. When they removed the platforms during strike, the stage was bubbling up in huge sections and paint was coming up in chunks from shows they did years ago. They said last time they had done Singing in the Rain they had to replace the stage, but they felt like the layers of paint would be protection enough. Unfortunately, even though I gave the stage 24 hrs untouched to dry before I painted it (as recommended by them) and I gave it a thorough coat of sealer, the paint still came up in chunks last night during tech. Tomorrow is opening and I really would love to find a way to avoid having to repaint the damaged floor every night. Any advice?
1 AnswerPainting2 years agoGrandaddy acting delirious after head injury. What's wrong and will he be okay?
He's not acting like himself at all. When my uncle got there Saturday morning, there was blood everywhere. Bedroom, bathroom, carport, and Grandad was leaning over the kitchen sink with a massive gash on his forehead. They took him to a hospital, and they didn't do **** for him there. They didn't even give him medicine or run any tests. So my aunt checked him out this morning and brought him to another hospital in another town. He's still not medicated, but they did a CT scan (came back fine) and x-rays. He's not himself though. His entire body is swollen, especially his face, to the point where he can barely open his eyes. His entire right arm is a bruise. His speech is nothing but mumbles and incoherency and he didn't even recognize that I was there. He kept asking when I was going to get there. He was restless, unable to stop moving for a second. He kept yawning and asking for a nap, but not sleeping. He doesn't know what year it is and is having difficultly recognizing people in the family. He kept saying my dad was on the floor when he wasn't even there, and talking about puppies and buffalo. My Grandad is 84 years old but very active and intelligent, so this is entirely unlike him. We don't know what's wrong, and all the doctors have said is that he has a broken rib. I'm worried so any peace of mind that can be given would be appreciated greatly. I just want to know if I'll ever get my Grandaddy back the way he was. Thanks in advance.

2 AnswersFinancial Aid5 years agoWhat kind of spider bite is this?
I live in the Florida panhandle, so it would be from that region. The bite happened sometime yesterday while I was helping my sister with laundry. I m assuming the spider crawled up my pants because the bite is on my lower thigh. The bite itself is small and has a yellow pus point. It is slightly swollen. The entire area around it is red and is warm to the touch. My leg itself is entirely sore like I ran a marathon, especially around the bite. I know its not poisonous because its been near 24 hours, but it is getting increasingly worse and I would like to at least know the name of the spider that bit me. Thanks in advance.
2 AnswersFirst Aid6 years agoAnyone know how to get OBS to output an MP4 file when recording?
I m trying to record my webpage with OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) and for some reason the recorded file is outputting as something other than a video file. Its something I have to open up in Windows Live Movie Maker, and even then its just 7 seconds of pitch black and horrible audio. I need it to be an MP4 file so I can put it into Adobe Premiere Pro to edit with. Any help?
1 AnswerSoftware6 years agoWhat are some good colleges for Archaeology Majors?
I'm looking for a public college with a annual tuition cost of less than 15,000 a year. Preferably this college would have a very low crime rate. Maybe a good lab and plenty of opportunities for fieldwork. I'm currently a junior in high school with all honors classes. Straight A's.
My main problem is that one of the best colleges for Archaeology is literally 5 minutes from my house. I don't want to stay at home. I want to go to a different state or at least a different part of this state.
2 AnswersHigher Education (University +)6 years agoI can't upload a video to YouTube. Why won't it work?
I just started my YouTube channel on Monday. It's going good, I have great support, a few subscribers. Whenever I try to upload a video, things don't work. I have to use the basic uploader first because the real one won't load. Then once I type everything in and press upload video, it just sits on that same screen for hours with the loading circle going on the tab. I'm using google chrome. I tried having only that tab open and closing all others. I've tried refreshing the page. Nothing works. Eventually, it uploads. But I've been trying to upload my fourth video for well on 6 hours now. I can't see the progress or anything. The worst part is sometimes I'll go back to check on it, and it just timed out on me. I've got a steady connection to the internet. I don't understand why it doesn't work. What can I do to fix this problem? Please help! Thanks in advance.
1 AnswerYouTube7 years agoRescued a kitten. What do we do?
We found a baby kitten in our backyard. She's adorable, a little orange tabby. We've given her food, which she loved, but she rejects the water. We gave her a flea bath too with dishsoap in our sink. She looks too young for anything else. She has fleas still. She's purring and very vocal with her meows. Her stool looks normal. She doesn't know how to use a litterbox. It's just me and my brother taking care of her because my moms at work, and we don't know what to do. We have her in the bathroom so she stays away from my dog and cat. She's playful and now constantly purrs. Is there anything we should do for this kitten until we have to go take her to the vet? She's definitely a stray. Thanks in advance.
6 AnswersCats7 years agoScared to go back to school. I'm terrified of what will happen. Help??? (please read description).?
I'm 16, and the past few months have been hell. I lost my best friend to this egotistical jerk of a guy who lives to destroy people. It took me a while to heal after she tossed me aside so easily for him, but eventually I got better. Her and I don't talk anymore. In fact, she dropped most of her friends for him because we all were trying to save her from his mind games. Anyway, most days I can ignore them. It hurts when we accidentally make eye contact, but only because I know it doesn't bother her. He created a stranger out of her. However, school begins again after the break soon. Things have changed for me. I now have a boyfriend who makes me very happy. We just made it official yesterday, but we've gone on several dates and have been talking for a while. He seems perfect. The only problem is who his best friend is. The jerk who stole my best friend. He understands my hatred of his friend, and even agrees with most of the things I say. But I've told him several times that I am nothing like his best friend and I am not going to steal him away. The jerk knew that me and my now boyfriend liked each other, so he texted me to try and mess with my head. He had ruined relationships for me in the past with his manipulation, so I wasn't going to let him do it again. I fought back. Eventually I reached a point where I was crying and shaking so bad that I couldn't respond anymore. He really got to me. Apparently, my old best friend read the conversation, and it hurt her to read. If only she wasn't so blinded by the jerk. She could've seen how rude he was being to me, and how much I still cared. Well, now that I am with my boyfriend, I am scared for school. I am terrified that the jerk is going to either mess with my boyfriend to get him to break up with me, make my old best friend hate me more by making her believe I took his best friend from him, or god forbid he even tries talking to me. My boyfriend says he will protect me, but I'm not so sure. Worst thing is I actually have a class with him this semester. My boyfriend is also in the class, so I know for a fact that they will sit near each other, and my boyfriend wants me to sit near him. That is also the lunch period, and if I have to sit at the same table as him again, it will make me borderline anorexic like last year. He would stand over me and make me uncomfortable to the point where I couldn't even eat. I felt sick. I am literally so terrified that I have considered changing my class schedule and even changing schools to get away from him. I can't handle it anymore. I want him gone. What do I do? How do I control myself and stop myself from having a panic attack? I'm even having a panic attack as I write this, that's how scared I am. He probably doesn't sound that bad from what I've described above, but there is so much I've left out. I promise, he is very messed up. What should I do? Thanks in advance.
1 AnswerFriends7 years agoWould you please proofread my short essay on Antigone?
I had to write an essay on Antigone, using quotes from the play. The essay is supposed to be present tense. It is supposed to be 500 words, no more and no less. It is also supposed to have a narrative hook. I sent my first paragraph to my teacher, so it is already corrected, but she only corrects one paragraph. I am hopelessly lost when it comes to present tense writing. Could you please proofread my essay and give your opinion? Also, if you could tell me if I need to take something out? Currently, the essay is 551 words, which is above the limit. Please help me! I am desperate here.
Btw, the essay is written as if the reader knows everything there is to know about Antigone, and I am trying to convince them that pride is a major element. I am not the only one in my class who is confused, and that's saying something, since its an honors class. Please and thank you!
(PS. Tab doesn't exactly work on here. I promise, my essay is properly formatted and indented.)
Taylor Swift says in her song “Innocent”, “I guess you really did it this time/ Left yourself in your warpath/ Lost your balance on a tightrope/ Lost your mind trying to get it back.” The story in the song is about a man who lets his pride take over his life, and that pride eventually destroys all he holds near. These lyrics are reminiscent of Sophocles’ Antigone, the story of a young woman whose Uncle is bursting with pride, which leads to her death, as well as many others. The major theme pride is reflected in each element of the plays plot.
In the Exposition and Rising Action of Antigone, pride is displayed many ways. As the play opens in a chaotic Thebes recently rocked by a Civil War, Antigone and her sister Ismene expostulate about their brother Polynieces, who is unable to be buried because of Creon’s’ decree. Creon dishonors his nephew since he believes that is what the people need to see so he can keep control. His pride keeps himself above the gods in his own mind. Throughout the Rising Action, Creon abuses his power when he sentences Antigone to death for breaking the law. Antigone correctly states that “all these men here would praise [her]/ were their lips not frozen shut with fear of [Creon]” (2.114). His son Haimon resents him for this because he is in love with Antigone. Some of his last words, “Then she must die.-But her death will cause another” (3.124), foreshadow the tragic ending to this classic Greek play.
In the Climax, Creon’s pride reaches its peak when Antigone is led to her death. He decides to lock her in a cave and let the gods have their way with her. On her death march, the chorus place blame for her fateful death, saying her parents “marriage strikes from the grave to murder [Antigone]” (4.41). Creon turns a blind eye to her, saying “if she lives or dies, /That’s her affair, not ours: our hands are clean” (4.57). Antigone curses Creon with her last public words for killing her after she did the right thing.
Creon’s unrelenting pride only makes things worse in the Falling Action when he insults Teiresias, and again in the Resolution when karma bites back. Blindly, Creon accuses the wise man of “[letting] out his words for hire” (5.56). However, to save himself, Creon rushes to Antigone’s rescue, only to find he is too late. Haimon has already discovered her lifeless body, and proceeds to attack his father and kill himself. It is known that pride is the only thing that sends the king on his rescue mission. In the Resolution, Creon finally loses everything. His wife commits suicide, leaving “her curse … upon [Creon] for the deaths of both” (Ex.128), of her sons. Creon is left with the consequences of his stubborn pride.
“Innocent” by Taylor Swift fits perfectly with the major theme in the story. Pride throws Creon is his own warpath, and he loses everything trying to hold onto it. Creon’s pride runs away from him, and he stumbles blindly after it, only seeking the power at the end, and not anticipating his destiny. It is easily seen now that pride is a major element in Antigone, as it is echoed in every plot element.
Thanks in advance!
Other - Arts & Humanities8 years agoWhat is wrong with me? Can't eat, never rested, shaking badly, etc.?
I can't eat. I haven't had a full meal in three days. Every time I look at food, I feel like throwing up, but yet my stomach is growling horribly. I force myself to eat a little bit of food, then stop after three bites because I feel like if I eat any more, I will have to run and throw up. I want to eat, but it is physically impossible.
I can't sleep. It takes me forever to get to sleep, and even when I have my full 6-8 hours, I wake up feeling like I never got any sleep at all. This makes me fall asleep during class and at random places. I almost fell asleep standing up yesterday.
My grades are suffering. I'm usually an A-B student, and this week I've gotten nothing but D's and F's. I can't focus on the classwork and I am working way slower than I should.
I am constantly shaking. My walk is unsteady and when I hold out my hand, its shaking really badly. I am very dizzy and I keep losing my balance when I walk.
I am always cold. I live in Florida, where its 80 degrees every day, but I've been wearing a sweatshirt and a jacket. The heat doesn't bother me, because to me, it feels like its 60 degrees.
I have a strange feeling that something bad is gonna happen. I guess you could say I am paranoid. I keep seeing things and hearing things that aren't really there. Yesterday, I stood in the middle of the front yard, slowly spinning in a circle, trying to figure out why I was seeing and hearing rain when it wasn't raining. And this morning I walked outside of my house, and my yard was filled with black crows all staring at me. Of all the houses on my street, it was my yard that they chose to preside in. This weird sense of doom might be connected to the fact that I have extreme anxiety.
I have a headache constantly. It feels like a pressure inside my head. This gets worse progressively throughout the day.
I cry very easily. When I see a funny or touching thing on tv, even if its just a few seconds long, I cry. When I see people hug, I cry. When someone hugs me, I cry. And I am not a crier.
These are all my symptoms. What I don't have though is a fever. I also don't have a runny or stopped up nose. I don't have a cough. I don't have a stomachache. Honestly, I don't know what is going on. These symptoms have been happening for about a week now, though some have been there for several weeks. The only difference I've had in my life in the past month is the extreme level of stress, caused by the high school drama and bullying. I have had suicidal thoughts in the past, and I still have a few occasionally. I haven't seen my psychiatrist in about two years, though last time he saw me he said he didn't see any signs of depression. All I had was anxiety. My stress lately has been a mixture of school, friend, and home difficulties. Grades falling and bullying at school, friends losing sight of themselves and leaving me behind, and as for family, my mom and step-dad split a few weeks ago and my real dad is dying.
Seriously, I swear I am not a hypochondriac. I have been wondering what the hell is going on with me for a while now. My best idea is that its stress related. But could it possibly be something else? What is going on with me? I really want to know. Please, don't give me a silly answer. This isn't a joke. I want to figure this out so I can get help. Thanks in advance.

5 AnswersMental Health8 years agoBumps on back of head that bleed and cause headaches?
Every so often, I'll get these random bumps on the back of my head. It's about once every two or three months and the bumps are the size of a dime, either one or two at a time. Usually at first they will bleed, and I will notice them. After that I will scratch them out of habit, and they will start bleeding and leaking puss. (Gross, I know.) My mom took a photo of the current one I have, and she doesnt know what it is. She wants to take me to the doctor to get it checked out, but she wants to sorta have an idea of what it is. She says it doesn't look like a mole or an ingrown hair. To her, it looks like a spider bite or something else. Except for the fact that it always reappears in the same general location. Anyway, usually around the same time, I get really bad migraines and have strong spells of dizziness. I can't walk straight. Sometimes I even get a fever. This has happened about 10 times now, but it goes away within a week, so I never have gone to the doctor for it. I am just curious about what it could be. Is this just a normal thing that everyone deals with? I really don't know. So, what are these random bumps on the back of my head that are linked to my headaches and fever? Thanks in advance.

I have a female miniature dachshund who is seven years old. Yesterday I noticed a bald spot on her back. Later that night, the base of her tail is missing hair in patches. She is itching herself badly, but all our flea baths and medicine don't seem to be working. She is recovering from recent ringworm, but the bald spots don't seem to be connected to that. We are concerned about our dog. Could it be the medicine they gave us for the ringworm? Could it be old age? Why is our dog losing hair? Thanks in advance.

1 AnswerOther - Computers8 years agoStung by an unknown bug, and now entire arm is hurting?!?
I was helping my brother with yardwork earlier today, and I was in charge of the hedge clippers. I was cutting down a small tree when suddenly I felt a sting on my arm. I looked down and saw a huge solid black bug latched onto my wrist. I screamed and shook it off. My brother ran over to see if I was okay, and the bug swooped in again and bit my elbow. It was at least twice the size of a wasp. Instantly my arm was numb, and I ran inside to avoid another sting. My brother got me some ice and a Benadryl, and tried looking up the bug. He thought it was a Cicada Wasp Killer. I looked at photos and said that it couldn't have been. The bug I saw was solid black. After a while, the numbness went away and was replaced by terrible pain and dizziness. I couldn't barely move my arm. The pain spread into my upper arm, and now, nearly 8 hours after the initial sting, the pain has reached my shoulder and neck. It hurts like hell when I try to move my arm, and I have a bitter taste in my mouth. I am still very dizzy. Strangely, the stings are no longer visible, when at first they had swollen up. We live in the South East of the USA, so I don't really know what kind of bug it was that stung me. I saw it pretty closely, and it had a narrow abdomen, but black wings/body and a wide head. I don't think I'm allergic to it, but it worries me that the pain is spreading. What kind of bug could it be, and what should I do about the pain? Thanks in advance.
