Hi I am 28 and met my husband when I was 14 I married my highschool sweetheart and am still madly in love. I enjoy hunting and fishing, and I am a great cook. I own a medical delivery business, and have recently went back to school this fall to work on my LPN\RN. I love to spend time with my family and have 8 nephews and neices who I love dearly! Some day my husband I hope to have a family of our own. We own a small hobby farm and just love to take care of all our animals:)

  • Why do you need so many bottles?

I would think a few four oz and a few 8oz would be fine, but people keep telling me i need like twelve. Do you lose allot of them?

  • When is a good age for daycare?

My husband and I both work full time and we are adopting a new born. How long do you stay home with a baby and when do you decide when to start daycare? I will be taking off work for about a month after the baby is born, and my husband for two weeks. Is that enough time?

  • Why is it when you adopt an infant...?

You are immediately accused of coercion? I am an adult so there for I am held accountable for my actions, my choice to adopt an infant, but as far as the mother is concerned she is being quilted into it out of her own will? Is the mother in some cases not making her own decision and there for be held accountable for that decision? I do know coercion exists..ALLOT, but some on this site accuse all of adopting an infant of coercion. I just do not agree in some cases I feel the mother does know the choice she is making, no I'm sure she can't imagine how she will feel later on down the road, but why are adoptive parents to blame for their remorse? I do not mean for this to come off cold. I am just trying to understand. It seems everything an adoptive parent does is coercion?

  • what would you do if you seen a bruise on their bottom?

I am very close to my sisters children, and have no children of my own. I had my 4 year old nephew for the weekend like most weekends and at bath time I noticed a huge dark hand shaped bruise over both little butt cheeks. This broke my heart! although I do think it is ok to spank, I feel that when you are leaving marks on the child this is abuse to me. If I say something it could piss her off and she would keep me from seeing any of the kids. I Have no idea what to do, all she will say is you don't have kids you don't understand. This bothers me most because for two weeks now my husband and I have noticed small bruises on his arms and his two year old sisters arms, and about the same time we noticed he also got an imaginary friend, a wolf pup for protection.

  • Do you think if we all worked together to reform adoption it would work?

There are so many petty arguments around that I really think if we all could set them aside and worked together things would start to change. Some examples: Infertile couples VS fertile couple adoption, National VS International adoption, Private adoption VS DHS adoption VS Agency adoption, Infant adoption VS Older child adoption, What terms are best used for anything, Bitter adoptees VS Happy Adoptees.

From where I stand I see so much ignorance on adoption period it leads to bad or uneducated choices in adoption. Maybe if we were all a little nicer and shared our knowledge on issues a bit more politely we could really get people to listen and start towards some positive. After all adoption should be about the children and I'm pretty sure we all love and care for them.

  • whats a good tank design for fire belly toads?

Right now I have three males in a 15 gallon, and 1/3 of the tank is sealed off for water with a fountain, but the water area is so hard to keep clean my filter clogs constantly. Know of any good ideas or sites that sell a good pre-made tank. I really am set on having a large water pool or divider, but not sure what is the best and easiest way to keep it clean.

  • What is the best formula for a newborn?

I am adopting and the baby is due in june. I know breast milk is best, but since that is not an option for me what would be the best formula? I have been looking at some of the ones that are premixed in ready to use, but just am not sure.

  • When making a family tree for an adopted child?

When making a family tree for an adopted child is it proper to not add yourselves, the adopted parents? The mom is helping make one for the baby and she asked Why I had not included myself and husband? I just want this to be a gift just for the baby, so is it ok if I leave us out of it?

  • What are your thoughts on embryo adoption.?

My husband and I tried this because I wanted the experience of pregnancy and birth. No one made them for us we were just on a waiting list for when a couple made too many, and donated them. Since there are so many against adoption here I was wondering the thoughts on this type of adoption.

  • Abortion in adoption.?

The mom I am adopting from, just confessed that she may have been on drugs during conception. My husband and I thought this was a possibility and have excepted that this could cause medical issues, but the mom has told me that if their is anything wrong with the baby she wants to abort and start over with a healthy baby. I told her we will not participate in any attempts to make a perfect child if she chooses not to carry to term. I know this is her right and she may do what ever she likes but I am just so thrown back by the situation. Do I just need to walk away from the situation? I just feel blank inside. We have to wait another week before any specific tests can be ran. She has told me she will decide when the results come back.

  • How do you tell an adopted child they have siblings?

The child I will be adopting will have three full sisters, 1 full brother (who she will be raised around) 2 half sisters and 1 half brother from her mom. 3 half sisters and 1 half brother from his father, Sadly the half brother was in an accident when he was 3 and no longer with us. The mom and I was thinking about making a family tree portrait to hang in the babies room and also a family book. Do you think that's a good idea? Or should we wait until the child is a little bit older. The mom is also worried about telling her 2 year old about his siblings, she just doesn't want this to be overwhelming, but we both want to be honest about everything from the moment both children are able to realize babies come from mommies bellies.

Side note: the mom worries because none of the siblings are with our family any longer. Right now her and I are working on tracking them all down, not to contact, but so we know where they all are.

  • Need advice with mother I am adopting from?

I have been working with the mother to get medicaid. The mom thinks if she gets medicaid that DHS will try and take her two year old. I don't want to push, but I really would like to see her getting medical care. I have paid cash for the initial check up and ultra sound, but the mom is very reluctant to keep her other appointments. My state has told me I have passed my limit on cost out for the mom. I called DHS anonymously and was told they don't and will not intrude with a legal adoption and have no need to investigate on the two year old unless someone reports. The ultrasound that i paid for the mom was informed their could be problems with the baby so I really am wanting to see her get medical care. I'm just unsure how to go about everything with out being intrusive?

  • What is the best way to stop a coon hound from barking all night?

My husband has three blue ticks, Mom who really is not that bad and she is fixed. and two sons who just turned a year they have really started nuisance barking the past couple of months. My husband says you shouldn't get on to them that they are bred to trail and bark, but they are driving me crazy barking at the horses and neighbors driving past and squirrels.

  • Why on earth would you pretend an adopted child was your own?

I have been doing some reading and allot of parents who adopt will adopt infants just so they can lie to that child and pretend that child is their Bio child? I just don't get it Any child can handle a truth you may have to revise your words and make them age appropriate, but they do understand and will grow to understand their truth!

  • what breed of pig is best for a small hobby farm?

We would like to have a breeding pair as somewhat pets to allow for easier health care, but we would like to slaughter and sell off the rest of the piglets. I prefer an easy keep with that old fashion flavor in the meat and maybe a breed that has smaller litters.

  • What age is good to introduce hunting and wildlife management to a child?

I have a 5 yr old nephew who won't leave me alone about going deer hunting with his aunt rachel. I'll set him up with his kid gear and slap on his bright orange vest and hat, but he would much rather pretend shoot the cat! He does understand the basics of hunting: kill the dear turn it in so you don't go to jail...LOL, eat the deer with biscuits and gravy in the morning! His words!!

  • How upset are you for being an adult adoptee?

On the boards I have noticed so many hurt adults from being adopted. Is it the actual being adopted that hurts so much or is it more about how your adoptive parents raised you. This question is quit personal and I do apologize, as someone who is adopting I would really appreciate if you could answer. Also at what age you were adopted at if you don't mind sharing. I am adopting from a close family member with honesty with the child and full knowledge that my husband and I our the nephew of their parents.
