Your opinion on Ren TV?
Ren TV shows a lot of interesting, I'd say thought provoking "documentaries".
However this moment put on youtube (I also saw it when it aired) makes me question everything this channel shows.

The bridge shown clearly is not in Holland, but Riga, Latvia. Also no trains in near vicinity.
Someone did jump from it a week before the broadcast though.

1 AnswerMathematics10 years agoCould you please help me with this integral?
(20x +3)/(10x^2 + 5x -2)
1/(cosx + 10sinx +3)
1 AnswerMathematics10 years agoCould you tell me the optical rotation coefficient Δn for some (any) substances?
it's from the formula http://upload.wikimedia.org/math/1/f/5/1f559213cac...
Thing is, for my homework I had to calculate that coeff. for a certain substance, the result I got was around 10*10^-3 (rad*m^2)/kg. And I don't know it that's anyway near to the actuall Δn of any substances, if even the -3 is close.
1 AnswerPhysics1 decade agoCan you explain a little something about third-order linear ordinary dif.equation?
Say I have y''' - y'' = 6x^2 + 3x
k^3 - k^2 = 0
k1 = k2 = 0, k3 = 1
y = y~ + y*
Now to find y*, I find coefficients A, B and C and then y* = (Ax^2 + Bx + C)*x^2
Apparently that *x^2 is there, because k1=0 and k2=0.
If only one k was 0, then y* would be that polynomial *x,
if 3 ks were 0, then *x^3 etc.
That part is what I don't quite understand. Why a root being 0 requests me to multiply Pn(x) by x?
2 AnswersMathematics1 decade agoHow to do this differential equation?
I don't even know where to start.
y'' = 128*y^3 , y(0)=1, y'(0)=8
1 AnswerMathematics1 decade agoAre these 2 double integrals the same?
So basically I wonder if I've managed to "change the order of integrations" ( I honestly don't know if this is how it's called in English).

8 AnswersRussia1 decade agoHow do I find the arc length (definite integral)?
x = 3(2cost - cos(2t)),
y = 3(2sint - sin(2t))
0>=t>=2pi
http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=x+%3D+3%282co...
Ok, so I have this formula
http://upload.wikimedia.org/math/1/4/0/140491cc1e5...
But I don't seem to be able to actually solve it...
The last thing I get is integral from sqrt(-72cos(t)), which just doesn't make any sense, so there must be something else before I apply that formula, I just don't know how to solve this problem..:(
2 AnswersMathematics1 decade agor = cos(2 ϕ) Am i using the right formula?
If I want to find the area, am I correct to use this formula S = 4 * 1/2 * integral cos^2(2 ϕ) dϕ, where limits are pi/4 and 3pi/4.
The formula in question is S=1/2 integral (r(ϕ))^2 dϕ, but I'm more concerned about the limits.
1 AnswerMathematics1 decade agoCould you please help me with definite integral?
I have to find the area made by these lines:
x=sqrt(2)*cost
y=2sqrt(2)*sint
y=2 .....y>=2
The answer I came up with is pi+2, but I am not sure if i quite understand this topic. Could you please try and solve this and say whether you get the same answer?
(I seperated the figure in 2, since it was simetric. lower limit x=0, upper limit x=1
lower limit t = pi/2 , upper limit t = pi/4. I am mostly worried if I found the t limits correctly. Then I used formula 2*S= 2*integral[t1,t2] y(t)*x'(t)dt
1 AnswerMathematics1 decade agoA quick survey regarding math.?
I would appreciate if you could help me out a little.
Please do this open text survey (more of an interview, really), just 5 questions.
http://en.visidati.lv/survey/504057223/
Doing it for my sociology homework.
It is about mathematics, the teaching and usefulness of math. Basically, I'd like you to just express everything that's on your mind regarding that matter.
I have to apologize though, the questions are really chaotic and badly formulated. but you should be able to grasp the main idea of what i'm asking.

1 AnswerChemistry1 decade agoWill we ever have wireless electricity?
I am so tired of all the wires kinking in one huge clew, but that's inevitable if you want to run a couple of computers, monitors, sound system and printer at the same time.
I'm aware that scientists are working on wireless power supplying solutions, but I have no idea how far they have got.
So is there any engineer here who is up-to-date on these kind of researches and thereby could make a prediction when wires will become obsolete?

Minimum: Pentium 4/Athlon or better
You Have: Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 560 @ 2.13GHz
But previously i have managed to run games that supposedly i shouldn't be able to, so how do you think, will i be able to run it?
PS. CPU is the only thing Can you run it? says that doesn't meet the minimum requirements.
