  • Christmas Light Electrical Question?

I had a question. I have sets of 50 light mini-lights broken into 2 separate 25 light sections. I could not find a good source for economical replacement lights for 25 long sections, which I presume would be 5v lights. The package says that the full string of lights of 50 bulbs is 40.8w.

I found some light strings with 20 lights per string and figured if I used them as replacement bulbs it would do no harm since they should be 6v lightsand figured the set would just burn a bit dimmer as a result of these being in the line.

It seemed however, that at some point where I got multiple 6v replacement lights in the strand, that the whole string would "flash" taking out most of the lights. Question is, did I error in my logic, or perhaps did the bulbs just randomingly reach the point where they were old enough to start the chain reaction failure?

Second question, If I wanted to replace all 25 with new 6v shouldn't they then be a dim string that would last longer due to the lower current flow?

    Thanks!

  • Yahoo Slideshow comes up blank?

When I click on a link to open jpg's attached to yahoo email the slide show feature will automatically pop-up but the slides will not show up when you open them. You can use the arrow key to go from slide to slide and nothing ever shows, however when you click on the thumbnail button they are all there.

Any way to fix this? If not, is there any way to delete the yahoo slide show function so at least you can open the attachments manually? I have XP on my computer.

  • Can I have sharp referred pain in my eye tooth and large molar from a small molar root that is in between?

The dentist thought I might potentially need a root canal when he filled this "small molar" 6 mo ago. I have started getting sharp pains in my eyetooth with heat, or if crunching on something. The pain lasts about 10 minutes and is significant. When I hit the teeth with something hot the eye tooth and a large molar behind the suspect tooth hurt in the same manner and for about the same length of time. Little pain emanates from the suspect small molar itself. When the dentist tapped on the teeth the suspect small molar had the most reaction.

The painful teeth are on either side of the suspect small molar. Dentist wants to do the root canal on the small molar but he didn't seem 100% sure. Can all of this pain be coming from the suspect small molar even though it's not hurting itself? Can pain also refer to the molars above the suspect molar? I need to decide whether to go through with the $1700 root canal. Thanks!.

  • Both Parents Alive, one in Nursing Home; Spend-Down, When does it start?

How about daily living expenses like food, clothing, heating, electrical. Can they come from the combined estate until the value of the estate is essentially twice the ~$120,000 the govt allows the parent living at home to keep?

  • I put 3GB Memory in HP Laptop supposedly good for 2gb Max. Any Down Side?

I have an HP Laptop, Pavilion dv6449us that HP said was max'd out on memory at 2GB. It was a dog running Vista, so since a store had 2GB chips on sale, I decided to replace one of my chips. The computer recognized the memory and is significantly faster with the 3 gigs. I was wondering if there was any down side to this, and was thinking of going and getting another 2 gigs to boost it to 4 gigs.

One thing I did notice that when I called up the control panel the icons in the "classic view" were super large, about 2"x2". I'm not sure how this would happen.

The computer is out of warranty so no concerns there.

  • Any on-line sites that talk about cameras that are not yet on the market?

At this time the camera I'd want to buy is a Fuji s9600 but with a 18x zoom and Image stabilization, and face recognition options, to go with their "5th generation" 1/1.6 CCD image pickup. Obviously this camera is not currently on the market.

Are their any web sites that provide information on the "near future" of digital cameras? I would hate to buy the s8000fd with it's sub-standard ccd only to find that an s9000 version of the s8000 was coming out for this year's Christmas season.

    Thanks!

  • I am looking for a certain male revolutionary artist with a hard driving rock sound similar to Springsteen.?

I was at a place called Momi Toby's Revolutionary Cafe in San Francisco a month ago, and the young (20's) Barista who was on was playing some revolutionary music. The music had a hard driving rock beat similar to some of Springsteens music, but this guy's voice was even rougher and more gravel-ly, and while the guy's language was clean, he didn't spare the sword. He took vicious swings at the establishment from the opening to closing of his tunes.

I am kicking myself for not asking who this guy was. I even tried calling the place with no luck, but I am hoping that this rings a bell with some of you music experts out there.

I don't think the guy was a group, because he was the only artist on the whole album, no back-up vocals. His lyrics were also relatively complicated. Dylanisk in complexity, but much harsher (And with the hard driving rock beat). I would love to get that album. Perfect for these times. Thanks for your ideas!

  • Electrical Voltage Readings don't make sense.?

I am having trouble with an overhead fan light that will not light. (bulbs are good) To troubleshoot I took some voltage readings mulitple times.

From the hot contact to ground (the metal frame of the fan) I get 122volts.

From the Hot Contact to the neutral return I get between 12 and 22 volts.

Between the Neutral Return, and Ground (The metal Fan Body) I get 3.2 volts.

Now if somehow the last reading was something like 100 volts I could understand that I had some major problem that was putting high voltage on the neutral line, but how you can get the 3 results above just baffles me. Help!

  • Does yahoo have a actual person monitoring "gaming" of the point system, or is it just an inefficient computer

If you look at the leader boards you find a number of people with over 50,000 points and between 1300 & 2600 total questions answered. In one case I checked about 40 of his answers, and on each one he had between 20 and 25 thumbs up. Is he using some visual basic program to pop one after another thumbs up into his question?

Seldom does a typical answer have over 3 thumbs up in the questions, even the ones rated or voted "Best." Something seems fishy when there are constantly over 20 thumbs up for a single individual for a question. In one case, the individual is averaging over 35 points for each and every answer he submits. Even if you had 20 good friends it's hard to believe you could discipline them to continue plugging in the thumbs-up for 1300 questions.

Does Yahoo actually have a person monitoring abuse, or is it just a computer?

Are there big chunks of bonus points? I followed a 20 pt per question person and her individual question pts wrn't coming close to 20.

  • I want to replace batteries in a 12v drill battery pack. Has anyone out there done this?

The batteries in the pack are connected with metal strips. I suspect they are spot welded. Has anyone had luck taking them apart and soldering new ones in their place?

I can buy an 18v cheapo drill right now for $10. I want to toss the drill and use the batteries as replacements in my good drills.

  • Did the Vikings Get away with one yesterday?

I thought you could only use your reserve quarterback if both your #1 and #2 guys had been injured.

The Vikings used their #3 guy when there #2 guy was injurred after they pulled Johnson for mental incompetence. Was that legal, (Did they change the rule) or is mental incompetence considered an "injury."
