  • Is it acceptable for a mother to yell at someone else's child?

At a playdate, a mother yelled at my child really for no reason at all. My son softly pushed her son because her kid didn't want to play a game. I was there and already speaking to my child, telling him that it was not acceptable and that the other boy does not have to play if he doesn't want to. She came up behind me and yelled "NO! NO" in my child's face.

He was stunned, and said he wanted to go home, but instead went to another area to play. Later he asked me why that mommy yelled at him. I told him that she didn't want him to push, but she should not have yelled.

I didn't want to cause a scene so I didn't say anything at the time, but I did email her later telling her to never yell at my child again and that next time I won't keep my mouth shut.

She has not replied and is not coming to playdates that we are attending. Our playgroup has many activities to choose from, so it seems like she is avoiding us now by attending activities that I do not go to.

Do you find it acceptable to yell at someone else's child? Even if the parent is present? Or am I wrong? I personally do not want someone else trying to discipline my child when I am already taking care of the situation. I felt as if she was implying that SHE knows what is best for MY child.

  • How can I get my 2 year old to stop pushing down other kids?

I've tried talking to him, time outs, and swats. I've tried telling him "We give hugs, we do not push." He keeps pushing his playgroup buddies!

  • What shoes should I wear with a red formal gown?

I have a red strapless gown with embroidery and beading. All the detail on the gown is red. What color and style shoes should I wear with this? I'm sure matching reds will be difficult, and I really dont want to mess with dying. The gown is floor length, so the shoes wont be extremely noticable. Thanks!
