  • Is there a means to record Skype calls?

I'm new to Skype, I've had the software on my computer for years but never used it. I just recently started, since I have an important job interview coming up, it's going to be conducted via Skype. I would like to record that interview, at least the audio. Is there some way to do it?

  • Subversive humor from North Korea?

A high school girl in Pyongyang was telling her teacher about her cat's newly-born litter of kittens. "Comrade teacher, they're so cute! Their eyes are closed, they sleep most of the day, and always stay close to their mother. They're perfect Communists!"

About a month later, her teacher asked, "Are the Communist kittens growing up nicely?" The girl's expression turned to dismay. "Oh, comrade teacher, big trouble! Their eyes are opened, and they've renounced Communism!"

Please tell any jokes you've heard that originated in North Korea, I'd love to hear them.

  • Venus fly trap wouldn't take fly?

I got a Venius fly trap around Christmas. I know very little about them, just that they need light, poor soil, distilled water, and can't be allowed to freeze. I'm only today reading about dormancy, it's probably a little late for my plant this year, but I will definitely make it go dormant next year.

Last night there was a fly in the house, one of those big, slow, flies that sometimes come out in winter when the weather warms up a little. I caught it, and inserted it into an open trap. The trap did not close. The fly crawled out and I put it back twice, but the trap refused to close. Finally, I shoved the fly deep into the peat moss. I figured one way or another I wanted it to be plant food.

Is it normal for traps to not close in winter? I live in Seattle, so there's very little direct sunlight, even next to a window. I water it with rain water, and my winter indoor temps are around 62 degrees Fahrenheit. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

  • Brakes click in 2000 Saturn?

My wife's 2000 Saturn SL brakes were replaced 2000 miles ago. Since that time, the clicking and squealing sounds have not really gone away. Today I drove the car for the first time in several weeks, and the noise was LOUD, I was hesitant even to drive it any further, and decided to take it back to the shop tomorrow. The shop that did the brake work has an excellent reputation and I've used them for years wthout any problems.

Like I said, I was hesitant to keep driving, but I still had some errands so I continued on anyway. Eventually the noise went away. So my question is...is it possible the noise is normal in relatively new brakes? Do I need to hurry to the brake shop? I can take it tomorrow, but it's a huge hassle for me on a workday. The first day it will be convenient for me to bring it is in about a week. My wife will drive it about 20 miles each day until then. You mechanics out there, what's your advice?

  • Finding a WI-FI hotspot in Japan?

I'm going to Japan (Sendai) soon. The person I'm staying with does not have internet service, wired or wireless. In order to use my netbook (depend on it heavily), I need to find a wireless hotspot. Do Starbucks and similiar businesses all have wireless hotspots as they do in the US? What's the best place to look for a hotspot?

  • Looking for new mochi preparations?

Every New Year my family has o-zoni with roasted mochi, but seldom eat it the rest of the year. At a company potluck recently someone brought mochi covered in a red meat sauce that look similiar to meat sauce for pasta. I initially thought it was pasta, but the texture of mochi was unmistakable, and the sauce was less tomato-flavored, and more spicy.

Does anyone have some good recipes for entrees using mochi, or sauces that would go well with boiled mochi? I am emphatically NOT interested in dessert recipes, they are very easy to find, but for some reason, none of the food blogs ever has mochi recipes for anything other than desserts.

  • What kind of service is necessary for wireless internet?

I am a dial-up user ready to upgrade. I'm interested in wireless. Is it possible to go wireless with a DSL account, or is something better needed? I use a little known, low-cost ISP, Archerserve, they offer broadband, but they told me they don't offer wireless. I wonder if that just means they can't help with the set-up; that's not a problem anyway, equipment and set-up help are available elsewhere.

Another issue for me is maximum coverage area; I travel worldwide, and would like service that I can access from vitually anywhere.
