Hello hello hello!

  • What is implantation bleeding like?

Ive had alot of symptoms over the last week or so and not feeling too great. On sunday evening i noticed light brown spotting ( i never get that before a period ) i kept having little twingey feelings on my left side for a day or so during it.(left side as in lower belly) When i woke up the next morning i noticed i had bled a little. ive been bleeding a little since Monday morning. Never enough to fill a tampon or anything. Could it be implantation bleeding? When im on my period (im not due for another week btw) i usually bleed really heavy for a few days and notice it in the toilet (sorry tmi!) but there never was any blood in the toilet or anything and its completely stopped since this morning so ive only bled for two days and my periods usually last for about 5. The other night i felt really hot and dizzy and i had slight cramp and that twingey feeling on my left, i felt like i was going to be sick so went to the bathroom but i didnt throw up. My boyfriend even commented how my boobs have gotten bigger...

I thought it might be my period, but it couldnt have been if its been light and for just two days.

Could it have ben implantation bleeding??

  • Dogs chasing chickens, but only when together?

We got chickens recently, they've settled and we let them outside into the garden for a wonder.

I took each Pug out by themselves on a leash. At first the eldest pulled at them and tried to chase. I stayed calm and i associated them with nice treats. He eventually calmed down around them and would wonder around the garden off leash calmly ignoring the chickens whether they flapped or hopped or just stood still.

I took him in and then brought the youngest out. He was a little excited but ignored the chickens and didnt try to chase them. I eventually could trust him off leash around them and he ignored them.

When the two Pugs were together with the chickens, they both decided to chase despite being calm when alone..

What do i do? Do i do the same thing i did with each dog on their own but with both, or what?

  • How to get the courage to kiss a guy on the cheek?

Well, we've been friends since we were 12/13. Im 18 in a few months so right now were both 17. Weve been together in the past, but lost contact when we left school so never actually broke up. Well we're not really together now but got back in touch. He told me a few months ago he still loves me. We've met up a few times and been over eachothers house the last time we met up he kissed me on the cheek but i went really shy.. We're meeting again tomorrow, how do i get the nerve to be the one to kiss him? We're both kinda shy.. Should i or shouldn't i? We've kissed before, not just on the cheek (Because obviously we were together at one point, we lost contact for a year) But now i cant even get the courage to kiss him on the cheek! what do i do?

  • I think my depressions coming back?

When i was in year 10 i had really bad depression, i would cry for no reason during school, i would self harm, everything seemed a complete mess, i started skipping school and my parents nearly got fined and i was having counselling which didnt work because i find it hard to talk to strangers and at the start of year 11 i was put into medical tuition which i had a hard time getting motivated to go to. I eventually got out of the whole mess and was happy for a while. Last year i was meant to start college but i was too scared to because i cant talk to people who arent close to me, i struggle to talk to my own grandparents so i didnt go to college. Lately though i cant even be bothered to get out of bed or walk my dog most mornings and i get close to tears for no reason :( My nan died in december 2010 and it never really sunk in. I cried at her funeral but after that it didnt seem real and still doesnt. I really dont want to be depressed again, everything was going fine i dont know what to do :( I really dont want it to come back, it cant come back, i got a dog after i beat depressiona nd he helped me get out of the house and do things, but lately i cant get motivated to do anything and i cant give my dog what he needs (Exercise, mental stimulation) so everything seems a mess right now i dont know how to stop feeling limke this before it gets worse :(

  • I need to lose 22 lbs?

So far, since Christmas i've lost 28 lbs. I've made little changes like no sugar in my tea, and granary bread instead of white and not eating after 6 etc and i've lost quite a bit of weight, just slowly..

But now it seems to be slowing down even more? This week i've only lost 1lb. So ive lost 28lbs in three-four months and i want to lose 50. So i only have 22lbs to lose..

What can i do? It doesn't seem to be shifting anymore..What sort of exercises can i do? I have a treadmill. I walk my dogs at least 1 hour everyday 7 days a week, sometimes 2 hours.

It doesn't have to be 22lbs, i'd be happy with as little as 14lbs, but im finding it difficult to shift.

  • Is it gross for a dog to lick your face?

My Pugs don't clean their bums, or their fur or any other bits of theirs.

Although, they do eat raw. (I haven't got sick yet even though my Pug licks me) I mean obviously their teeth are completely white and their breath doesn't smell because of raw, but is it really safe to let them?

My Pug, when hes playing will wiggle about and lick me instead of mouthing and if we're at training classes, when we're waiting our turn i will invite him onto my lap and he will hop up and look up at me, lick my face a few times and sit and watch the other dogs as we wait for our turn.

Is it bad? Could i get sick even though i haven't yet..?

  • Are there any logical explanations for these things?!?

The other week i was sat alone in my room on my PC and i hear something whispered by the side of me. I didnt like what was said, but i ignored it anyway. It said "Die". I've never had anything like that happen before..

Today i made some tea and sat down at the frontroom table to drink it. My two dogs were on the floor playfighting. I threw a soft toy on the floor for them to play with. They stared at it, then continued to play fight one another leaving the toy dog laying on the floor. They both left the room and i was left sat on my own. I look out the window from where i am sat then look down to where the toy was, and i find it sat upright with one of its hind legs underneath it between its two front legs. I thought it was odd and just told myself it mustve landed like that when i threw it on the floor. Im still on my own in the room and i look out the window again, i look back at the toy and notice it sitting upright with both of its front legs inbetween its hind legs, like a dog would sit. Thats when i find it creepy and call my mum.

Later at dinner i left my food to go get something in the kitchen and i see grey powder on the floor and the chair leg, my mum asks me what it is so were both left confused.

Is there any logical explanation for it? I dont understand how the toy could change positions on its own or where grey powder could come from, we dont even have grey powder.

In our old house, my mum told me about some things that happened. I was a baby when we lived there. Weve been here since i was two. But my mum told me how i used to mention this 'lady' alot. I said she was called 'caroline'. My mum told me i was sat on the bed with her as a toddler and i told her there was a lady next to her. My mum waved her hand out in the spot i said she was and i began crying telling my mum i hurt the lady. There was infact a woman who used to live there called caroline. (My mum and gran got some info on the house after i kept mentioning her name often, they found the grave of the woman nearby also.) Now i have noi memory of this because i was so young. That woman died the 24/09. I was born on the 24/09. But many many many years after her death, of course.

Am i mad? My brother says we all are because theres no such thing. But i cant think of a logical explanation!

  • How to stop my mums dog climbing on the table?

He never used to do this, its something hes seemed to have figured out.

If we push the chairs in under the tablet, hell push them out, jump onto the chair and walk all over the table.

We keep the chairs pushed in, but hes figured out how to push them out, what now?

My Pug doesnt do it, he doesnt even jump onto furniture, but my mums just wants to jump and climb any object :/

    Hes a Pug.

    How can she stop him?

  • Why does my mums dog steal peoples seats?

As soon as anybody gets up off of the sofa or the kitchen chair, hes up on that seat in a split second. If i sit down on the seat and hes still on it, he will move (Obviously i dont sit on him, me going to sit on it makes him move) But why does he do that? Our other dog doesnt.

  • What can she do about her biting puppy?

So, i have two unneutered Male Pugs, 18 months and 15 months. They go to obedience classes, do shows and whatever and generally get along with most dogs.

My friend bought a puppy. It was 6 weeks old, immediately i knew it was much too young to leave the breeders home and its littermates.. I told her this. She's even feeding Pedigree, i told her thats a bad idea too. But hey, not alot i can do about that. (I feed raw, college told her and the other students that raw is dangerous. Yeah, right thats why it stopped my dog from having seizures.. Anyway thats another story)

She brought it around tonight without really telling me beforehand, it's around 7 or 8 weeks now..

So, my dogs sniffed the pup, they kept their distance from it and just let the pup sniff them, but then the tiny puppy began mounting my youngest Pug, the one who is quite submissive, then pup started growling and jumping on him and holding on and biting, when my friend tried to stop the puppy, it bit her and growled. It then started harassing my older Pug, who ran away from it with its tail tucked down when it began nipping and growling. I told her if she takes her dog to the park and lets it continue this behaviour of mounting and biting, itll probably get bit itself, or start a fight..It even bites her. I told her that she should probably stop picking the puppy up and petting it when its done soemthing wrong. :/

I put my Pugs in their crates so they could get some peace, but she told me she doesn't know what to do with the pup. What can she do exactly about the way he is with other dogs? I mean, she got it at 6 weeks so i guess it didn't have much time at all to learn bite inhibition? Its a spaniel. I got my Pugs at 9 and 15 weeks of age so they never had an issue with mouthing things much, even i think 8 weeks is too young personally, but 6 weeks? Do you think she'll have problems with this dog? Its only 7 weeks now and already mounting other dogs and biting them (Im not talking about playful nipping, i know what that is like, but this pup will jump on the dog and snarl and bite but not let go. My Pugs didn't reprimand the puppy, they just got scared and let it do what it was doing, thats when i put mine in their crates to get some peace from it.

  • Im confused, was that aggression, or playfulness?

Today we were at the park.. my Pug met a husky hes met many many times before on lead (but never actually sniffed, he gets wary about sniffing other dogs. At training classes a larger elderly dog lay on the floor beside him. My Pug kept his distance at first, went close, tried to sniff but flinched a little and tried to avoid eye contact. This usually happens around dogs). He was fine, went over to the husky, jumped up in the air and snapped the air around it. He didnt growl, snarl or lunge or have any intention of actually putting his teeth on the larger dog. He jumped up in the air and snapped the air around the big dog twice, by its face and its side then stopped and stood beside the husky totally calm as i pet the husky.

Sometimes he will put a paw up and tap the other dog with it as his body is low on the ground, and sometimes mouth. Usually when he does this he hops back and forth, with his body low on the ground.

We have another dog at home, the same breed. When they play, they sometimes play rough, when they run around together at full speed, they will growl when its a full on chase and they will mouth eachothers skin and shake it about, or chase and nip. Is that bad play? Is it something i should not encourage? Should i interrupt their playtime when he does that, or is it fine?

  • IS it my dog in the wrong, or the other dogs?

My Pug, who has been around other dogs his whole life, so far can and will jump up at and bite larger dogs. if we're in the street walking, he will ignore the big dogs on leashes.

I can have him sat beside me whilst im talking to an owner who has a large breed dog. He can be a foot away from it, or a metre away from it. But if the bigger dog moves, mine reacts, will look panicky, will cower, flinch or lunge if the large dog gets too close. Before he has the time to react to the bigger dog simply moving, i tell him to lay down. And he does.

So basically, he can be fine around larger dogs, and be next to them, as long as the larger dog is calm. He wont even react to the larger dog barking at him from a metre away if mine is sat. Now, if the larger dog goes and puts its nose up to mine for a sniff, mine will go sort of frantic, then lunge and nip, or sometimes cower.

I got an old friend of mine to walk their labrador with my dog. At first it wasnt that great, as his dog was too friendly and up in his face. We swapped dogs, he walked mine, i walked his. My dog calmed down then. I got mine off leash behind a fence with his on the other side on leash. At first mine lunged and pawed and whined through the fence. He got no reaction and stopped. Mine then walked away from us and stood a few metres from us. He would walk slowly, and avoid eye contact. he would sniff the grass. (i know what that means..) He then sat down, so i went over to him and told him to heel and follow. he stayed by the fence, but didnt interact with the labrador. he would flinch when the labrador moved.

A few other big dogs came on our side, mine looked over at them and slowly walked towards them. I told him to Leave it and he turned around and came back, so its not like hes aggressive and wanting to tear the throat out of all large dogs.

Is my dog the problem? People think hes nasty for him not tolerating bigger dogs sticking their nose in his bits. :l

Anything i can do? He doesnt greet larger dogs on lead, he will sit beside me, but when a large dog comes bounding over off lead and sticks its nose in his space, theres not much i can do and he iwll lunge and bite at it. He's never greeted a larger dog on lead.

Is that acceptable? I mean, he was sat on my lap at the park with the labrador alongside us. He was fine. The lab stuck its nose under my dogs belly, he tolerated it for a few seconds, but got annoyed and tried to bite the other dog. Thats fair, right? I feel like its my dog thats bad..people act like it is, but is it? what can i do to get him to at least tolerate these large dogs that invade his space? :l

If he is in a large group of dogs, he wont interact with them. He will stand by me. When we went to puppy school when he was small, he didnt want to play during play time. He would stand next to me, and look up at me. If i went in th emiddle of the room witht he dogs, he would. but he didnt like any interaction, and would cower.

    Will he always be shy?

  • How can you stop a cat attacking a dog?

My Pug, when he sees the cat, cowers, turns his head away and avoids eye contact and moves slowly, obviously wanting to avoid a fight, but the cat scratches him or jumps on him, then runs awaym resulting in a chase. He's only nervous (the dog) because she's always attacking him.

How can we stop her attacking him?

  • How can i make my dog relax on walks?

So my Pug has been a little anxious and nervous lately. He's fine with people, but when we go on a walk i always make him fetch his leash and sit before we leave the house. everytime. Down our street he isn't too bad, but when we get outside our street he starts walking fast and looks around. We were in town today and walked past a big labrador, he curved away from the dog and got very nervous and walked faster and would look around.

On our way home from walking if a car past he would walk ahead really fast and look back. Id stop and walk the other way. I was constantly going back and forth ..

A staffy pup walked past pulling its owner and squealing and barking at us but i made him sit and watch me and i clicked and rewarded him with a fishy treat for looking at the dog except he looked really anxious

Am i doing something wrong? He just seems really nervous all of a sudden, he used to be ok. The only change i can think of is getting him into a routine. He's 17 months. How can i calm him down when hes like this? I usually make him lie down, and when hes lying down i can see he is tense looking and not relaxed at all.. Should i make him lie down, sit with him until he relaxes then reward him? How can i make him relax?

I'm starting to enjoy walks less because when we're on walks he seems to be sped up, moving really fast and looking around him frantically. He doesn't pull, he's been trained to walk by my side..

What can i do to let him know theres nothing to be afraid of?

    11 AnswersDogs1 decade ago
  • Why is he acting this way on walks?

When i take my Pug out for a walk, i make him fetch his leash, he happily does so and brings it to my hand. I have him sit as i clip his leash on. I make him wait as i walk through the door, then call him once im through.

When we're walking, sometimes he'll stop and just look at me. Sometimes he'll get fixated by things. Things he wouldn't have cared about in the past.. Hell watch bikes, people etc. Hell walk forward an dbecome totally fixated on them. If a big dog walks past, hell get tense and lunge. In the past he would walk loosely past anything and everything and ignore barking and lunging dogs of any size. Now if a car goes past hell speed up and look behind him or get tense. He didn't used to care.

I've taught him to walk on a loose leash, and he does. We've done obedience classes and KCGC. We've done dog shows (And he was completely fine with dogs) He used to be able to walk loosely past crowds of dogs and people and not care.

Now he is acting differently and walks aren't enjoyable anymore. If he sees a big dog he'll lunge or get over aroused, get tense and looks as though his eyes are gonna pop out of his head :l lunge and bite.

Why? I don't understand it. Nothing's changed. We finished obedience classes and we haven't been for many days out this winter because my mum was in an accident and been unable to drive.. What can i do?

My mum says i'm just bored and there's nothing wrong with him... I was thinking of using a D.A.P collar..Any good? I'm not nervous when i'm out walking, i can be totally relaxed. I've tried being jolly, i've tried rewarding him for calm behaviour. Nothing's working. I'll turn in the opposite direction when hes over aroused by something but hell stop and look back all the time and it makes things worse.

  • Coughing and runny nose in my dog?

When my dog tries to bark, he'll end up making a harsh coughing noise, at night his nose will run, he'll reverse sneeze or sneeze normally, the other day he had a very runny nose when sleeping, he woke up and sneezed and also spluttered.

He's a Pug. He doesn't normally cough or reverse sneeze.

  • Why was my Pug reactive on his walk?

Yesterday we go up at 8 and went for our normal 90 minute walk before breakfast and he met lots of dogs on lead, well i say met but he stood there quietly, he doesn't seem to like greeting..

Anyway we went to the field after and he did zoomies all over the place and a few tricks but today we got up at 8 he didnt seem up for walking, he fetched his leadh to my hand like normal but on the way back he kept stopping and he wasnt in a good mood this morning, he was more irritated by the dogs instead of not being bothered like yesterday. I took him out for another walk this afternoon and he fetched his lead enthusiastically like always and did some tricks when we got outside and we walked along together doing the trick where he walks with his feet on mine and he seemed happy but when a car went past he became fixated on it, and dogs, and people, and joggers.. Everything he would normally not even take a second look at!

Why the sudden change in behaviour? Nothings changed, ive been a bit stressed lately but on our walk this afternoon i was fine.. So why would he suddenly react to the things he didnt care about before?

He's unneutered and about 17 months old.

  • Its a nice day, what can i do with my dog? We're bored.?

It's only 1pm. We got up at 8 this morning and went out for 90 minutes and then had breakfast when we came home.. He didn't feel like running or playing today.. Yesterday he was doing zoomies all over the field. He's just sleeping now, but when he gets up in a minute what can we do? (he's a pug) In the afternoons i cant think of anything to do, I'm teaching him how to limp at the moment and we're making progress but we can't do that all afternoon so what else can we do? Should i take him for a really long walk? He isn't really into toys.. Any games we can play?

  • So why is he aggressive only when another dog gets close?

This is a tough one for me..

When a dog is off lead and comes running over to us unexpectedly and putting its nose by my pugs butt or face my Pug, who is on lead will react and snap at it. If a dog is on lead and they greet face to face he is fine, as long as there is distance, even just a foot. Like yesterday a black lab was on a lead, they kept a foot distance between eachother and my pug sat beside me watching me. when the lab suddenly pulled and stuck its head in my pugs face my pug looked panicky and backed up and looked at me, i got him back to my side calmly. Hes been next to a husky on leash and been fine, he was off lead once and a black lab ran over to me, i pet it and my pug noticed and walked over, he was about to jump up at the lab but i nudged him back with my hand and he stood there fine whilst i pet the lab.

We walked toward a staffy today and he didnt even react.

Today he was sat on my lap at the park and a black lab ran over to me, his head was right at the same height as my pug, i pet the lab and my pug didnt even react despite being an inch away from it

But when a big dog comes running over and jumping about and sticking its face in my dogs face my pug will snap at it or lunge..Then me and my dog get the blame.. What can i do about it? He seems to hate it when big dogs go up in his face, i guess its understandable?? the husky barked at him once when they were a foot apart on leash but my pug stood there sniffing the ground, which was a reaction i liked..

How can i stop him reacting like that when dogs run up to him? He only likes calm dogs, not hyper ones running loose. But their owners blame me. Those are the ones hell snap at.
