What are special, spontaneous gifts I can give to my simple but rich boyfriend?
My boyfriend and I are in our early 20's and have been together for 2 months now and it's been great. Every once in a while, he'll buy me little things like my favorite donuts or a small stuffed toy. I want to be able to reciprocate but I have no idea what to get him.
See, he's a really simple guy and when I ask him about things he likes, he'll go, "Anything, I'll like whatever you give me." Even though he's simple and all, he's SUPER rich (with very good upbringing, very humble) and can afford to buy whatever he wants. I just want to be able to give him something that he'll really treasure, like small spontaneous gifts. Any ideas?
3 AnswersSingles & Dating1 decade agoWould you vote for me with these "credentials"?
I'm running as Minister of Internal and External Affairs here in my law school (third in line). I'm a sophomore, and -- in all modesty -- am popular in school since I'm always in all activities and I volunteer a lot. I have a lot of friends from 2nd year up to the 4th year and they know I'm capable. I've also been the class president since freshman year.
Here's the thing: I'm running against a freshman who's also very likable but less exposed than me, although he has great credentials, like he was in the Supreme Student Council back in college. The truth is, I have no "awesome" credentials to back me up (I only started getting "active" in law school), except for the fact that I'm the "go-to" girl in law school since I'm around out a lot and always look for ways to help out.
I'm running under a party list, and I was thinking of something creative for myself for our leaflet. Instead of the usual list of academic, political, etc. credentials, I was planning on just putting in a single sentence or something, to the effect of saying, "I don't have political ambitions, I just want to be in a better position to help you guys out."
I have no campaigning experience whatsoever. What do you guys think? Would I be memorable and impressive if I wrote something like that?

I just bought a Macbook with a 160GB hard drive. I turned it on and I find out that I have 131GB of free space. I know that the bundled apps take up memory, but I was wondering why my laptop says it has a TOTAL of only 143GB of memory?
Thanks!
1 AnswerLaptops & Notebooks1 decade agoPlease help me with my buyer's remorse... :)?
Hi, I just purchased a Macbook online. It's a 2008 model, the middle one (2.4GHz, white). I'll be getting it early April. I was just wondering if this is really the notebook I need. I need my laptop to do everyday, ordinary tasks like typing documents, surfing the Net, maybe play a few "sissy" games (simulation stuff for girls, etc. hehe). One thing I'll be doing a whole lot of, though, is Photoshop and a bit of Illustrator. (I'm an amateur photographer and graphic designer.)
I tried doing some research on how well Photoshop works with Macbook, but most -- if not all -- of them are outdated, ie, reviews are based on the older Macbook models, which, ofcourse, are slower, etc. MOst of them say Macbook doesn't do well with Photoshop, but like I said, that's a very outdated comment.
I'm sort of having buyer's remorse, but I'd like to know what you guys think about the 2008 Macbook (the middle one.) Sorry for the long post, but thank you!
3 AnswersLaptops & Notebooks1 decade agoHelp me decide on a laptop please!?
Hi, I'm getting a laptop as a graduation gift (on the 17th!!!) and I'm really in a rut as to which laptop to get. I'll be buying online and having some relatives from the US bring it here to the Philippines, so I gotta have it shipped to their address by March 26. I already have my eye on the HP Pavilion DV 2740se, and I was wondering if that's okay for my needs. (I wanted to get a dv2700, but maaan, time is what I don't have enough of right now.)
And I might as well fill in this form too.
1) What is your budget?
--> Not more than $1200, but I can (hopefully) still charm my way with my parents to $1500.
2) What size notebook would you prefer?
--> I'd like those thin and sleek notebooks, 13" - 14" screen, not more than 5.5lbs.
3) Please select your country's flag as a post icon and tell us what country are you buying this in.
--> I'll be buying from a US-based online store. I have yet to look, but I'm thinking of buying from buydig.com. I'm having the laptop shipped to a relative's, who will be coming here on the 31st, so everything has to be all good by the 26th.
4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
--> I'd prefer HP or Apple. No Dell or Toshiba please.
5) What tasks will you be performing with the notebook?
--> I'll basically be using the laptop for everyday stuff like surfing the net, documents, a bit of gaming (but not hardcore stuff. I only play the girly, simulation-type games, haha.), etc. I'm a photographer, though, so I do a lot of Photoshop-ping, and I usually multitask and run background apps while I'm at it.
6) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places or leaving it on your desk?
--> I'll be working on it anywhere I can.
7) Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games?
--> I'm no hardcore gamer, but I sometimes play simulation games, like farming games, Chocolatier, Cakemania, you get the picture.
8) How many hours of battery life do you need?
--> Doesn't matter, but I wouldn't want below-average performance either.
9) Do you mind buying online without seeing the notebook in person?
--> Nope, that's what I'm doing.
10) What OS do you prefer? Windows (XP or Vista), Mac OS, Linux, etc.
-->Windows (both) and Mac OS would be fine.
11) Would you prefer standard or widescreen?
--> A wide screen would be great.
12) From the choices below, what screen resolutions would you prefer?
--> I don't really mind what resolution I get, just something good for photography, etc.
13) Do you want a glossy/reflective screen or a matte/non-glossy screen?
--> Glossy's good for vibrant pictures.
14) Are the notebook's looks and stylishness important to you?
--> It would be nice if it looked sleek and ultra-hip.
15) When are you buying this laptop and how long do you want this laptop to last?
--> I'll be buying anytime this week, or anytime early enough to get to my relatives by the 26th. (QUESTION: How long does continental shipping take? They live in Ohio, I think.) I'll keep my laptop for as long as I can until I'm old and rich enough to buy one with my own money.
16) How much hard drive space do you want; 40GB to 500GB?
--> 120, 160, 250 are fine. I need a lot of space to store my pictures in.
17) Do you need an optical drive? If yes, a CDRW/DVD-ROM, DVD Burner or Blu-Ray drive?
--> Yes. I don't need Blu-Ray, but a DVD burner would be great.
Thanks a lot!
P.S. I really like the Dv2740se. I'm also partial to the newer Macbook models (2.4Ghz), or the HP Pavilion tx1420us. (My priorities are graphics, speed, and memory.) Thanks!
3 AnswersLaptops & Notebooks1 decade agoDo magazine publishers normally accept subscription payments using a debit card?
I just got a new Visa debit card and I'm thinking of buying stuff online. (I'm a student, so a credit card's out of the question.) I was just wondering if I can pay for magazine subscriptions using a debit card? I've tried asking NatGeo but I'm still waiting for their reply. As for the other magazines, it seems like their customer service is only for existing subscribers.
Anyway, I'd love to hear what you guys have to say. Thank you!

5 AnswersLaptops & Notebooks1 decade agoWhat do you think of my photography?
I haven't been able to edit these. These are pictures of my friends and my mom (don't tell them). (The picture of the boy is kinda blurry, I didn't have a tripod then. Sorry about that.) Just wanna hear what you guys have to say 'coz I want to prove to my mom that I deserve a Nikon D40X! :P THanks!
10 AnswersPhotography1 decade agoWeb programmers, help! Background image resizing for my website?
I'm trying to resize an image for my Multiply site, but I'm wondering what the optimal size is? My image is 1700x300, but I resized it to 1024x551 so it'll fit in my 17" monitor.
Question is, will it look good (ie, automatically resize) in 19" or 21" monitors? Or will it look too small for the screen?
(If you guys wanna check, it's www.loopdaloop.multiply.com. I'm using the 1024x551 here, and it looks fine to me, but how about you guys? Thank you!
PS. Or if there's a CSS code for automatically resizing the image, I'll be happy to try it out. Thanks!
2 AnswersProgramming & Design1 decade agoWhat makes you like someone?
This is for platonic AND romantic relationships.
Why do you like a certain person? Is it because:
A.) S/he has a positive trait (spiritually, physically, emotionally, etc.) that you see in yourself; or
B.) S/he has a trait that you wish you had?
5 AnswersOther - Family & Relationships1 decade agoDark armpits...?
My sister is naturally bronzed, but her armpits are horrendously dark and ugly compared to other girls of the same skin tone. She had a rash in her armpits when she was a kid which led to the darkening, but now that she's 20, I would like to think the remnants of that rash would have gone away. She shaves her armpits (which may also have caused the darkening), and she seems to think her deodorant is making everything worse. She's tried whitening deos, soaps, and creams, but nothing seems to work. I feel sorry for her, refusing to wear sleeveless shirts and going swimming.
Does anyone know of a VERY effective way to whiten already dark armpits? Over-the-counter, grocery, or home remedies will do. THanks.

11 AnswersPhotography1 decade agoI'm asking for an expensive gift from my aunt...?
I'm a teenager from the Philippines and my aunt (who lives in the States) asked me for a wishlist of things my sibs and I wanted since she's sending us a box of stuff. We're not that close, but I like her, and she's loaded with money. Not that I wanted to take advantage of her, but I asked for a digital camera, costing about $270. We're well off here in the Philippines, but gadgets are just waaay cheaper in the US. I emailed her about it, even offered to pay for part of it for etiquette's sake, but I just couldn't make up my mind on which camera to ask for. I emailed her about 3 times, sounding indecisive, then finally sent her my final choice of camera, the $270 one. She never replied, though. I was thinking, could she have been offended or found me too audacious? What would you guys have felt?
