What does the word "Baba" mean in Hindi or Sanscrit?
It seems to be a term of respect or endearment. Can anyone tell me what it means?
Thanks!
7 AnswersLanguages10 years agoDoes anyone know where Jesus answers the question of whether there is an "unforgivable" sin is?
I was told by a friend that He answered that the unforgivable sin is taking away the innocence of a child.
Does anyone know if this is true, and if so, where in the Bible is this found? Thanks!
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality10 years agoCan you tell someone is going to die soon from looking at their toes?
Seems I read somewhere that there are certain changes that can be observed in a body a couple days before the person dies.
1 AnswerOther - Health1 decade agoAnybody have a good recipe using "Creamy gorg" cheese (a type of gorgonzola)?
A friend gave me several large pieces of it. The flavor is stronger than I like to just eat it on crackers, or in salads but I wonder if it can be used in some kind of sauces etc..
Any ideas?
1 AnswerCooking & Recipes1 decade agoAnybody have a good (vegetarian) recipe using "Creamy gorg" cheese (a type of gorgonzola)?
A friend gave me a couple packages and while I like a little blue cheese crumbles in salads, this is a bit soft for that. Its too strongly flavored for me to use plain on crackers etc. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!

Is this just another internet rumor? When I google it, little info comes up.
Vegetarian & Vegan1 decade agoAfter a great deal of soul-searching and tears, I realize it is time to consider "putting down" my dog.?
He is 14, covered with nasty tumors, mostly blind and mostly deaf, is losing weight and has terrible arthritis. He still loves his dinner and tummy rubs, but obviously he has no quality of life.
The thing is, the vet's office freaks him out, and I really want to do it myself here at home where he feels safe and loved. Unfortunately, no vet in our area will make house calls.
Does anyone have any experience with this? Would feeding him a sufficient number of crushed up vicodan work to put him to sleep in a peaceful way?
Please--- only serious and compassionate answers. Whether you agree with me or not, understand that he has been my dear friend for 14 years and I want to let him go as painlessly as possible.
Thanks!

5 AnswersDogs1 decade agoMedical mystery: Can anyone explain why after sickness with fever, arthritis symptoms disappear for a while?
I've experienced this several times. I have severe osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia pain, and pain from a back injury. I almost look forward to getting sick--- because it seems like the sicker I get, the better I feel for a few days after when I get better!
The joint and muscle pain is so greatly reduced.
Could it be the semi-fasting? I could pretty much only drink small amounts of juice for three days. Or does the fever do something?
Can any smart person with medical knowledge enlighten me?

13 AnswersJokes & Riddles1 decade agoMy son will be spending a couple months traveling and surfing in NZ/Aus. What's the best way to carry money?
We live in US and I'm wondering if he carries a US bank debit card, will it work in NZ/Aus ATM's? Will a big fee be charged each time he uses it for currency conversion etc.?
I don't think carrying much cash is wise for him, since he'll be camping and staying at youth hostels etc. It seems like just withdrawing a bit at a time from his bank account would be best. Also he'll have a credit card for plane fares etc.
Thanks for your help!

Are US citizens allowed to buy land in NZ? Is it difficult to emigrate?
Other - Australia1 decade agoIn NZ and Aust. are the cold months called winter and the hot months summer?
I know the hot and cold months are the opposite times from the N hemisphere-- so I assume Dec/Jan/Feb etc are called "summer"--etc.
Sorry to be dumb!

My 20 year old son will be traveling there shortly for the first time and I want him to take a credit card rather than all cash.
Thanks!
2 AnswersOther - Australia1 decade agoSerious question---Something bit me--don't know what. Lots of pain!?
Its 2:30 AM--- I was sleeping and about 2 hours ago awoke with intense pain on the skin of my stomach. There was a small red bump which has now grown to be about the diameter of an orange--- red, swollen, VERY painful! I looked for an insect but could find none.
Live in HI--- we have centipedes, spiders, scopions--- but I've never seen one in my bedroom.
The hospital is 40 minutes away--- doesn't seem like an emergency--- but the pain is increasing, not going away. I'm only using the computer because I can't sleep for the pain--need to distract my mind.
What should I do?
8 AnswersInjuries1 decade agoWhy close the stock markets to honor ex-Pres. Ford?
I'm not meaning to be disrespectful, but I cannot make a connection between honoring (or mourning) an ex-president and closing down the stock markets. Its not like any of the people who would have been trading needed time off to go the funeral. Nor are ordinary people rivited to the TV to watch the funeral like they were for the death of JFK.
Is this always done?
9 AnswersCurrent Events1 decade agoIs it the end of the world as we know it???
This is NOT the world of our parents and grandparents! Please don't answer until you've seen the documentaries "An Inconvenient Truth" and "The Future of Food".
Can we stop this?
4 AnswersEnvironment1 decade agoHave you watched "An Inconvenient Truth" yet? Or "The Future of Food"?
If enough people get the information contained in these two documentaries, do you think we can reverse things?
2 AnswersEnvironment1 decade agoHow do you think public places should address the Holidays?
Seattle airport chose to take down its Christmas trees rather than put up a mennorah or face a lawsuit. Can you suggest a way that we could honor all cultures/religions and offend none? Or do you think all holidays should be publically ignored?
7 AnswersOther - Society & Culture1 decade agoHow do people who don't have speech think?
When I think, it seems most things have a name or word attached to it within my mind--- or at least a description of some sorts, composed of words. Yet people who do not have hearing or speech --or babies pre-speech-- clearly have thoughts. And many animals are capable of quite complex thinking and planning, without words.
I cannot imagine how I'd think without words.
