  • guide me guys, aquarium tips.?

i got different ideas about filter. first is the water goes to external mechanical filter connected to water pump then connected to the bio filter then finally goes back to aquarium. that's my main plan but i can afford it now. second thing is a plastic bottle with media inside it and enclosed by foam so that debris wont build up in the media, it will be powered by air pump. as what i understand is that when water circulated in the media, beneficial bacteria will build up in there and it will be a good thing. by the way, how many weeks would it take for beneficial bacteria to build up in the media? and should i just clean the mechanical filter? but not the bio filter?

  • guys, 10 points is waiting for the best answer.?

First of all, im from philippines, we got hot and cold seasons only, it doesnt snow here. Second, im planing to have a pond 1.2 x 2.5 meters, it will be a home for my aquatic pets because their aquarium is hard to maintain, imagine cleaning 1 aquariums every week. Here are my pets: lots of guppies, freshwater crab (i caught from river) RES turtles, pond snails, freshwater clams, and im planning to add shrimps( im gonna buy 6 pairs). By the way, no crabs or turtle can get away from there, i will create a unclimable terrain. Now here is the problem, how can i make the water wave or have a current and stuffs without creating another problem because of that? Because you see, it requires wave for clams to have food and crabs to lay eggs. Any suggestion to my questions or in my plan?

  • em I right about this?

Lets talk about freshwater plants. In my own thinking, the more plants you have in aquarium, big container, or pond it will always benefit the scpicies living there right? Now, i am planing to create a 1.2 x 2.5 meters pond with 1 meter x 1 meter as the deepest to shallower point in the pond, my question is, can i just have lots of plants insted of having a filter and water pump? Will that pond survive with my: lots of guppies, red clawed crab, shrimps, nails, clams, insects and if possible, some red eared slider... What do you think?
