Tryna make that $$- what's the best way?
I'm a 20 year old female in the city trying to support myself like the rest of us! But I need a little guidance on figuring out the best way to do this. I'm taking a semester off school to figure things out, and I want to work hard and save up while I can.
I currently work full time at Macy's, making $9 an hour. I love interacting with people, it's a fine job.
Within my first week I was offered the chance to work for commission, but I'm not confident in my abilities to actually make money that way (I really REALLY hate badgering people to get Macy's cards!)
I also just got offered a hostess position at an upscale, very fancy farm-to-table restaurant. I originally wanted a serving position, but I have very limited experience. I'd be doing very little work and making around $11 an hour or more, and it's an easier commute.
I don't know much about commission, hostess positions, or waitressing. I wanted to quit retail because I thought I'd make more in tips as a server, so should I look elsewhere for a waitressing position? What will make me the most money? Are there additional options? I don't have a problem with working hard and staying positive, I just want to get paid for it!
2 AnswersOther - Careers & Employment6 years agoWas this guy flirting with me or nah?
Alright so I breezed into a Starbucks one afternoon and immediately locked eyes with this super hot barista. The whole time I was in line we made intense passionate eye contact across the counter, sprinkled with a few sultry smiles. Well it's my turn to order and he asks what I want etc etc and as he's writing my name on my cup he says 'you look really familiar' with this cute tilt to his head and a little half grin.
Now I know for a fact that I've never seen this guy in my life, because I would remember a chiseled face like his. But how do I respond? I said something like 'I get that a lot, I guess I have one of those faces' (in a real smooth and seductive tone mind you) and he responds with 'well that's not a bad thing', as he hands me my change and receipt.
I thought that perhaps he was only undressing me with my eyes because he simply thought he knew me, but when I recounted this tale to my mom, she said he was clearly hitting on me.
The real kicker here is that he completely screwed up my drink order, like I ordered an unsweetened iced coffee with room for milk and he wrote down sweetened iced tea.
So, my question to you is, do you think he was being flirtatious, or did he actually think he knew me?
2 AnswersSingles & Dating6 years agoAcceptable for 20 year old girl to sleep over at boyfriend's apartment?
I'm a 20 year old female college student living at home for the summer, and my boyfriend of nearly two years is living in an apartment about 10 minutes away. We have busy work schedules and only get to see each other once a week in the evening. It would make sense for me to spend a Friday night there because I'd have more time with him. At school when we were in the dorms, we slept over in each others rooms often, and our parents are aware of this, but I understand things are different now that I'm under house rules. I just wanted to gauge the general opinion before I asked my parents.
1 AnswerSingles & Dating6 years agoScary movie involving young girl becoming old woman in woods, looking into a mirror or something?
I have a very vague memory of watching the beginning (I think) of a scary movie on Bravo or something when I was younger (so probably early 2000s). I remember there being like two young girls I think in the woods, one was in a blue dress. She's sitting by a tree and she becomes elderly or witch-like, and I think she had a mirror. Does anyone know what it is?
(And no, it's not The Others)

What are these big droopy dripping squid-like blobs that pop up in multiple scenes in Spirited Away? Someone suggested soup dumplings but I'm not sure?

1 AnswerEthnic Cuisine7 years agoSmall kitchen appliances: when to save and when to splurge?
I'm a college student moving into a dorm with a kitchen, so I need new small appliances (blender, toaster, coffee maker, plus pots and pans). I'm not sure whether to buy the cheap stuff or try to go a little higher end.

I've been dating my boyfriend for a few months now (we met in college), and I've only spoken to his parents over FaceTime, because they live in CA and we go to school in DC, where I'm from. They have been kind and generous enough to invite me to stay with them for three weeks, so I'd like to get them some gifts, though I'm not sure exactly what. Any suggestions?
