  • What do I earth/ground my record player to?

I have an Auna TT-1201. It's a very simple plug and play set up that did not include a ground wire. I'm getting a really high pitch buzzing or humming sound from the actual turntable, not the speakers. The speakers are on the other side of the room and I know they aren't interfering.

I have seen stuff online about grounding the player. There is a thumb screw on the back of the unit marked as ground.

So if I attach a ground wire to this screw what do I attach the other end of the wire to?

I'm not an audiophile - I just want to play my tunes without getting a headache!!

  • why am I not paying income tax?

I have been with my employer for 3 months now and havn't paid any income tax since starting with them. Should I worry about this? Have I 'paid up' what was expected from me with my previous employer?

I also noticed that my tax code changed recently allowing me to pay less over the year (not an emergency code), could this have a bearing on it.

Finally, will I be stung for everything I may owe in one go or will it be spread over the remainder of the year?

  • How do I go about laying mains power to my detachted garage?

My house is one of six, all with its own garage. The lay out however means my garage is detatched from my house and across the dead end side street that is maintained (to a fashion) by the local council.

The other five houses have their garages situated within reach of the house via the gardens and don't face this problem.

My only option is to bury the cable under the street (reminder: a dead end used by maybe 8-9 cars per day). Do I need permission, can I do it myself, what do the council need to know, if anything

  • how can i add more ventilation to more attic?

I recently fitted my own loft insulation, keeping clear of the eaves so not to affect the ventilation. I only topped up two thirds to allow me to lay loft boards for storage down the centre of my attic. Whilst working in there yesterday I could hear the odd drip and on looking up noticed condensation.

I have done a little looking around on the web to try to get some help. I read an article about vents in the ridge of the roof and on having a look outside there is one there but from the inside I cant see how it would work as it is covered. Does it need uncovering to optimise its ability??

There are a couple of vents in the soffits on either side of the house and there is a breeze blowing when it is windy outside. We have always had a little condensation on some bedroom windows too.

I would prefer a DIY solution to this problem if anyone could suggest one.

    thanks in advance

  • heated hand grips on a 125cc scooter?

i ride about 16 miles a day to and from work and in the winter months my hands are taking a pounding from the cold. im using reasonably thick gloves along with thin inner gloves but it just isn't enough to beat the 'burn'.

i have been looking at heated hand grips but im feeling ill advised. im riding a pulse strider 125cc scooter with a 12v 7a battery. one person believes the battery wouldn't be able to cope with the demands placed on it while the 'experts' selling the equipment tell me the capacity of the battery is just right.

please can you help, i obviously don't want to waste my money!

    thanks.

thinking of going bankrupt. we have researched all the credit implications and iva routes along with debt management. long story short, the wifes hours have been slashed and we simply cant afford iva's or everlasting debt management. we have done our research but can we sign goods over? or should we put them in the attic/garage?
