So today, my mom was pulling out of the driveway, and accidentally brushed my neighbors car (in the parking structure.) It just so happened, he was standing right there and saw the whole thing.

We just went down and checked, there was barely a difference. It was just a minor scratch in the paint, and their 'decals' on their car cracked off.. but they were rusted/cracked/chipped before we hit it.

Wow. My mom offered to pay right away, but the neighbor (that we've known for literally around 5 years) is suggesting:

-a full inspection of the inside of the car (which CLEARLY isn't damaged)

-car rental costs

-full bumper/decal repair place

And more... and completely added up... it's around 800 dollars.

It was a tiny scratch, the man at the dealership was chuckling when he saw it.

Yet, the neighbor is PUSHING for the repairs...

On a Mazda van that's 5 years old.

The neighbor is being really pushy about fining us as much money as possible.

We're willing to pay for the repairs... not the full engine inspection, fully replaced bumper, new paint job, and car insurance.

Is there a way to get out of this?
