I'm a cantankerous jackass that is sometimes helpful.

  • Question statuses (stati?)?

I haven't asked a question in forever, so here's a trivial one that makes me wonder.

Notice that when you are looking at the list of questions you've answered in your profile, next to the question sometimes it says 'Open' when answering is still available, 'In voting' when the user let the question go to a vote, 'Best Answer' if you were brilliant enough (or everyone else stupid enough) to warrant receiving the accolade and sometimes just 'Resolved' if your answer didn't make the best. But, every now and again it doesn't say anything. Does anyone know, or have a suspicion, as to why this is?

  • Reform Republicans or Organize Libertarians?

An answer to this question got me thinking:

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=200703...

The problem with the Republican party is that they've strayed far from their core values.

The problem with the Libertarian party is that they have problems organizing on a national scale, even sometimes on a local scale.

For those of us who favor the values listed in the question, which is the better route to take?

    1) Being a Republican and trying to bring the party back to its core values

    or

    2) Being a Libertarian and trying to bring some solidarity and organization into the party

  • Can a momma cat recognize her young after years of separation?

My parents have a female cat that they've had for years. The cat only had one litter before being fixed. I have one of the cats from that litter. He's about 7 years old now. We were talking one day and wondering if we were to put them in the same room, would the mother somehow know that our cat is one of her offspring? Or would she just treat him like some other cat? Would he recognize her?

  • Why do some people not ask their question in the question line?

    Is it not annoying to find post after post that have the subject;

    "What's your opinion?"

"What do you think about this?"

    "I have a question?"

    "Do you know anything about?

Put the subject of your question in the subject field and maybe more people would actually look at your question.

  • Critics of FairTax?

What is your opposition to the FairTax (www.fairtax.org)? Have you actually read the plan or are you just going by what some politician has said?

  • Looking for PDA program to transfer files to a remote computer?

I'm trying to find a program for a Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone, the Samsung i730 to be specific, that allows me to transfer files from the PDA to my computer at home while I'm away. Does anyone know of a program that allows this? Terminal Services doesn't do it, LogMeIn.com's IT Reach doesn't do it. I've been search the internet, but there are millions of different utilties and I haven't been able to find one that transfers files.

  • Why does the left keep on trying to assert a connection between 9/11 and Iraq?

Nobody in the Bush administration ever said that Saddam was connected to 9/11, so why do the liberals keep trying to use the straw-man argument that "Saddam had nothing to do with 9/11". Nobody said he did. We went into Iraq because Saddam didn't conform to the requirements of the cease-fire from when he invaded Kuwait and because there were other terror cells in Iraq.
