What are they, and how can i treat them?

  • Are there any guilds out there specifically for kids in World of Warcraft?

My 10 year old plays WoW every once in a while...few hours a week tops. I was wondering if there are any guilds out there dedicated to kids?

If not, I'd like to start one. A few parents to monitor, and other than that, a guild full of kids where it's ok that your highest level character is a 20 that you've been playing for a year lol.

Adults who play WoW don't want a 10 yr old to be their healer....and let's face it, when you're starting out, you have a lot of questions about the game, and people are frequently less-than-friendly about noob questions, lol.

We're on the shadowsong server, horde characters for the most part. If you know of any kid's guilds, please let me know the server & faction. If you have kids who play & would be interested in making a kids only guild, let me know.

  • Great Dane/Giant Breed owners: is pet insurance worthwhile?

We just bought a Great Dane puppy this weekend. We researched the breed heavily before hand, so we know the risks associated with owning a Dane. I'm terrified of bloat, and worse, that if it ever happened, we wouldn't have the cash to pay for the surgery.

Do you have pet insurance, and have you ever had to use it for an emergency situation?

Also, do you know the prevalence of bloat in Danes-i.e. what percentage of Danes will actually suffer an incidence of bloat?

We feed him 3x a day instead of twice like with our other dogs, but i'm still nervous about it.

  • I've requested several times for a company to stop emailing me, yet they persist. What can I do?

I follow the link at the bottom of the email about unsubscribing, and they send me an email to confirm my unsubscribe. I've unsubscribed so many times that now I've created a subfolder in my email to save the unsubscribe requests. What can I do to get these people off my back?

The email is from MediaRev and is some kind of get-rich-quick scheme. The unsubscribe request goes to Lyris, and that's who sends the confirmation email back.

  • What kind of protein & fat content should my dog food have? Large breed puppies?

I have an 11 month old boxer, and we're getting a puppy this week, either a great dane or a great dane/english mastiff mix.

I used to think that giant breeds were supposed to have giant amounts of protein as a puppy, but I just read an old question that said protein should be capped at 24% for giant breeds. Is that true?

There are 3 brands of Dog food we're considering: Blue Buffalo Blue Wilderness (very high protein), Chicken Soup for the puppy lover's soul, and Canidae. I want to know the ideal protein/fat/starch combos so I can pick a good dog food, or find a recipe to make my own.

  • How long did you work with your baby before they started signing back to you?

My 16 month old doesn't talk, and so I contacted Early On. They just came over & interviewed him and confirmed that he has a delay of Expressive speech, although his receptive speech is on target. He also failed his hearing test in both ears, which we kind of expected. They're going to set up speech therapy for us, and ENT & Audiologist appointments, but in the meantime we're supposed to start signing with him.

While I realize that all kids are different, and that we're starting late, should I expect days, weeks, or months before he signs back?

  • Does adding extra yeast make bread softer?

Or will it just make it rise faster? There's a chain restaurant called Logan's road house, and they have such good dinner rolls. They're reaaaalllly soft & pillowy, and they have a richer yeast flavor than most bread. I want to know what I can do to make my dinner rolls turn out so soft & airy.

  • Is making your own dog food cheaper? And I need recipes, please.?

We have two dogs: a 6 yr old Boxweiler & a 10 month old boxer. Currently, we feed them Authority Senior & Authority Puppy food at the cost of about $100 a month. I want to switch to a better grade of dogfood (we're considering Blue Buffalo, at about $140/month). I was wondering what it costs to make our own dogfood though? I can't find any good recipes though...my yahoo search turned up i-love-dogs, which was junk, and food source, and a bunch of other sites that all had the same recipes & were mostly treats.

I need to find a recipe for everyday dogfood, and I need to know the serving size for a 120 lb & 45 lb dog.

  • If tomorrow was your last day of life, how would you spend it?

i just saw on the local news that a family of 4 was involved in a car accident this afternoon, and their 12 yr old & 14 yr old children died.

The unfairness and complete lack of guarantee really struck me- did they have a funny feeling when they woke up this morning? Or did they wake up and treat today like it was just one of tens of thousands more that they were sure they had coming? Undoubtedly, they thought it was a normal day, and had no worries on their minds heavier than remembering the grocery list.

If tomorrow was your last day of life, or, infinitely worse, your child's last day, what would you do?

Tonight, I'm going to leave the dishes undone and I'll play a board game with my big kids. I'm going to read to my baby until I lose my voice. And when my fiance comes home...well, that's private. And, on a lighter note, I'll clean my closet & throw out my holey undies & socks.

  • How can I get the smell of urine out of my towels?

We have a puppy, and my kids have a habit of grabbing a dirty towel to wipe up puddles.

I wash them in warm water with liquid Tide and use liquid downy+febreze. I've tried soaking them overnight, i've tried nature's miracle, and added a cup of baking soda to the machine. I tried vinegar, and then I had pee + vinegar scented towels....very lovely.

Is there anything else I can do besides toss em? We're talking 14 towels.....7 people's worth, so it won't be cheap to replace them.

  • My 16 month old doesn't talk. Could he have a speech delay?

He babbles stuff like mamama & dadadad, but he doesn't ask for us by name. He used to say the dogs' names(sort of- he calls Zeus "zzzz" & Guiness "nin nin nin"), but not anymore. When he wants something, he just points & whines.

As a newborn, he failed his 1st 2 hearing tests, and then at 3 & 5 months his eardrum burst (all of this in the L ear only). I know he can hear at least partially because he looks when we call his name & jumps at loud noises.

I called Early On a few days ago & we're waiting for someone to set up a screening for him, and I'll talk to his pediatrician at our Jan 4th check up.

If you had a similar experience, what was the outcome? Did your child catch up, or is he/she still lagging behind?

Or are they all just scams to plant a virus or get your password?

  • How much do whole-house air purifiers cost?

Two kids have allergies, 1 has asthma, and our house is extremely dusty. I want to cut down on the dust, I don't care so much about killing the bacteria & viruses in the air, so we don't need the top-of-the-line system(unless it's under $5k)

. It needs to cover 1800 square feet.

None of the websites (aprilaire, lennox, etc) post prices, they all refer you to local heating/cooling contractors.

  • Is there a site where I can I read the 7th Harry Potter book online for free?

I ordered the seventh book from half.com about a week ago, but it isn't here yet. I just finished the 6th about an hour ago. Even if there's a sight that just has the first part of the book....my hardcopy should be here any day now.

  • I have white crusties on the outside of my fishtank...what is it, and how do I get it off?

We have a 100 gallon tank in the living room, and it has white crusty junk on the lid, and running down one spot on the front of the tank. Is it calcium?

I've tried plain hot water, vinegar & water, and windex on the front. While it's wet, it appears to be gone, but then as soon as it dries its back again.

How can I safely get rid of that stuff?

  • Reception invitation wording when wedding is private destination wedding?

What is the etiquette regarding inviting guests to a wedding reception, when they are not invited to the wedding? We're getting married on a small island, and it will just be the 2 of us at our wedding. There will be no guests, no parents, no wedding party, but we intend to have a reception of about 200 people a weekend or two after the wedding.

  • What are some common reasons behind urinary tract blockages in a 1 yr old boy?

My baby had a high fever and was dehydrated, so I took him to the ER. They gave him an IV for the dehydration, and suspected a UTI. The ER nurse, and then the doc tried, unsuccessfully, to catheterize him. They bagged him, and the urine culture showed Strep B & Staph infections. After his antibiotics were done, he went to his Ped. for a re-check. The cath. was unsuccsessful again, it would only go in about 2-3 inches, and came out bent at the tip. The dr. referred us to a urologist, and for an ultrasound of the kidneys & a VCUG, which was today. During the VCUG, the x-ray showed that the cath only goes as far as his prostate gland, and then it meets resistance & won't go any further. Two nurses tried 3 times, and they tried using the smallest cath. set the hospital carries, but it wouldn't go any further.

We have our urology appointment set for the 16th, but I just want to know what the common problems are, so I can research them before hand.

  • The last book I loved was One Hundred Years of Solitude. Have any suggestions for a new book?

I also loved "The Red Tent " and the non-sci fi books Marion Zimmer Bradley wrote. I loved East of Eden, Anna Karenina, and everything Jane Austen wrote. Which of these books or authors have you read, and what are your book recommendations for me?

  • Are there any legitimate work-from-home sites or employers?

Friday is my last day of work before I become a SAHM. My fiance can pick up enough overtime to pay the bills, but I despise having to ask him for money. I just need$25-50 a week....just pocket money to take the kids out, or get my hair cut or something. When I type "work from home" into yahoo, it comes up with about a trillion scams. Are there any REAL jobs out there?
