I am a writer who is most happy when I can write outside. I am addicted to Lamb Vindaloo and love watching Sci-Fi movies. My main driving force in life is God and my family, who live far away from me at the moment.

  • My phone interviewer is late in calling me, should I call them?

I was supposed to have a phone interview with someone in NYC and it is now 20 minutes past the time they are supposed to have called me. I checked my email to be sure that it is THEY who are calling ME, and that is correct. I know they may be busy or there may have been some meltdown, but how long should I wait before contacting someone. Should I send an email or just call?

  • I dislike my brother's girlfriend and they are getting married...?

I have tried to get along with my borhter's girlfriend and I truly do not think she is an awful person. However, they are planning on getting married this summer and she is 18 and he is 21. She is not a mature 18 year old, she is pretty average actually. She is often jealous, very manipulative, talks trash about her parents and friends, and has no understanding of money, a job, or school. I want to be supportive of my brother but I don't know how. What do I do? I feel like I can't be honest because anytime I even hint at it, he gets very defensive. Should I just swallow my feelings and pretend or should I say something? Should I just let bygones be bygones and whether their marriage works or is headed for a shallow grave is their business? I'm the big sister and I want what is best for my brother, but this relationship just doesn't seem to be heading anywhere good.

  • How can I be friendly with my Gossipy, immature, sleeping with the boss co workers?

I work in a small government office of about 14 people. Most people are nice but only in a cordial way. I do not like to gossip and therefore to not join in, in most of the office conversations. This has of course excluded me from everything. No one talks to me, they don't ask me if I want to go in for lunch, they never ask how I am, rarely say hi to me, and on occasion someone may acknowledge my existence. There is one guy who does talk to me, but thats only because everyone thinks he is incompentent and therefore he is an outcast too. I want to be on at least speaking terms with my co-workers but I do not want to talk about things like dating, boys, children, so and so's boyfriends or girlfriends, sex, sex & the city, etc. Its like they don't have lives outside of their friends pathetic lives. How can I get them to at least talk to me without joining in these miserable conversations or am I doomed to be the outcaste?

  • My coworkers have been bashing Christians for the past 20 minutes...?

They all know I am a Christian, and even when I speak up they don't seem to care. I know that if I was of any other religion they would not say anything and would be respectful of what I believe. I have glared and said that i didn't like being compared to some of the things they are comparing Christians to. Why do people do this? And what else can I say to make them stop? Its not only rude at work but completely disrespectful.

  • What is your opinion about the church that wants to picket the Amish funerals for the slain girls in PA?

Apparently this particular church has done this before. I am a Christian and this simply appals me. It has seriously raised my blood pressure. I personally think it is probably the most rude, calous, demeaning, and hateful act.

  • I have just started seeing a guy from Brazil...?

He is absolutly gorgeous. The only problem is that he speaks portuguese and spanish, but very little english. My problem is I only speak english and german, and very little spanish. What can we do that doesn't require us to contantly be trying to talk to one another. I am currently learning Spanish and he has agreed to help me with spanish if I help him with english, but I have a feeling it will not be a short process, and it may be awhile before we can have a true conversation. Now this is definitley a new experience for me, and I am a little nervous. What can we do? Where can we go? Even quick phone conversations to set up meet up points can be very hard. Has anyone else ever done this before? How did you handle it?

  • Are people aware that the Bible is considered one of...?

the most historically acurate documents in the world? Never mind if you you believe that some of the stories are fabricated or myth. After all myth, is almost always based on fact. Archaeologists for years have used the Bible as a compass for digs and research. It seems that many people are ignorant of the historical value the Bible has, and seem to think the whole Bible is completely false. There are entire histories of kings and families that are rivaled only by the egyptians. You may not believe that the Red Sea was parted, but David was a real king, and Jesus did exist, even if you believe he was just a man.

  • I am in a new city with new friends and my birthday is coming up...?

Should I invite people out to eat for dinner, or just tell them my birthday is coming up and let it be? I have always been surrounded by my family and good friends and have never needed to tell people nevertheless plan my own birthday event. Its a little weird too, since I have only known some of these people weeks and at the most only a few months.

  • Hasn't anyone on hear heard of google, ask, or yahoo search?

Why do people ask questions on here that could be answered VERY easily if they just went to google or yahoo search? I mean seriously people, what did you do when you had to write research papers or when you want to know facts? You actually rely on the word of the people in here. You don't even know if the information is that accurate. I don't understand it.

  • If you have such a problem with religion...why do you only pick on one?

I have noticed that many people on here seem to have serious issues with religion. Possibly because of someone they have run across, although I expect that many of your viewpoints are swayed by the stereotypes you hear and see in the news and on tv. Why is it that muslims are tolerated while christians are not? Just an observation, but muslims claim to worship the same god and have the same roots, so why are they treated as the good guys, and christians as the bad guys? Oh, and don't even start about politics, this is a simple belief and hate question. I have noticed that every side of the spectrum from atheists to roman catholics seem to be dealing out the same amount of hate. If you don't want a religious person judging you, perhaps you should stop judging them?
