the truth has set me free
Mother, midwife, former JW. Now a Christian I pray often for the release of my brothers and sisters kept in captivity by the Watchtower society. For anyone interested, I have changed my name from Curly Sue because the truth really has set me free and I have discovered the beauty of straighteners! So, if any JW's are reading this you can see exactly who I am and cannot accuse me of hiding from you!
If the name of Jehovah is so important why, when instructing us in the model prayer,?
did Jesus tell us to pray to our Father?
Jesus actually commanded that we pray this way 'You MUST pray, then, this way. "Our father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified."' Surely Jesus knew that the name would be removed from the scriptures during 'the great apostasy' and that millions would never hear this name, what better way to preserve it than to make sure it was uttered in a prayer that has been said by so many.
Quote taken from the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures. A bible which claims to have replaced the name of Jehovah where it originally appeared.
11 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoHow many Jehovahs Witnesses would call their earthly father by his name?
I suspect not many would, they, like I would feel it showed disrespect. Why then, do they feel that it is alright to name their Heavenly Father in such a disrespectful way.
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoCan someone recommend a suitable passage from the Bible for an interment?
I am about to bury my sons ashes. He has been dead a year on 19 March and we are having a short memorial at which we will bury his remains. There will be a mixture of believers and non believers attending and I need to find a suitable scripture to read. Serious answers only please.
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoI suffer from polymorphic light eruption and am going to Egypt in five weeks.?
Is there anything I can take beforehand which may prevent the worst of the symptoms? I take antihistamines and use a steroid cream to treat it but it would be good to prevent it in the first place.
2 AnswersSkin Conditions1 decade agoHow many Christians on here would terminate a pregnancy because the baby had an abnormality?
And, for those of you who wouldn't, how many would take an invasive test to tell you that the baby was normal/abnormal when that test carried an increased risk, albeit a small risk, of miscarriage; tests such as chorionic villus sampling or amniocentisis? Please understand that this is not a judgemental question but one of genuine interest. As a Christian I could not personally go down that route, however, as a practising midwife I recognise that every woman has the right to make that choice for herself as only she, and her family, have to live with the result of that decision. I also believe that as an imperfect human it is not my place to judge. Only God has that right.
20 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoJehovah's Witnesses?
If no man can look upon the face of Jehovah God (which I accept) why in Genesis 3:8 of the NWT does it say that Jehovah God was walking in the garden of Eden looking for Adam and Eve? True when he found them they hid their face but it was through shame. In my various other Bibles it says that the LORD was walking about in the garden, as most Christians understand the LORD to be Jesus, this verse makes more sense. In addition, why does it say in Genesis 18:1 that Jehovah appeared before Abraham, and in verse 22 that Jehovah remained standing with Abraham, again in other Bibles it says LORD in these verses. Please note that nowhere does it say that an angel or representative of God appeared, although in Gen. 18:2,3 three men appear and Abraham addresses them as Jehovah. These three men leave Abraham in verse 22 but Jehovah remains.
13 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoJehovahs Witnesses, in Exodus 3:2, who is 'Jehovah's angel?
and why, in Exodus 3:6 does this angel identify himself as 'the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob', and, in verse 7 as Jehovah. How can an angel claim to be God unless he is God. Bear in mind that angel means messenger and Jesus was God's ultimate messenger. Is therefore, the 'angel of Jehovah actually Jesus, and, if so, does that not also make him Jehovah God?
18 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIf Christians are persecuted on account of Jehovahs name, why did Jesus tell his disciples that they,?
and subsequently, the early Christians, would be persecuted on account of HIS name? Surely he would have said on account of the name of Jehovah or the name of my father. Mathew 24:9, Mark 13:13 Luke 21:12.17.
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoEx Jehovahs Witnesses. What made you leave the organisation? Was it one particular thing.?
Or was it a combination of factors. Having left, what did you do spiritually, did you join another church or did it put you off religion?
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoHas anyone read "In Search of Christian Freedom" by Raymond Franz?
If so, did it have any effect on your religious views and/or your spirituality?
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoCan anyone recommend a really good Bible. I have a King James but don't like the old style of writing.?
I also have a New World Translation which of course has been seriously tampered with but is useful because it has an index. What I am really looking for is a fairly faithful copy with an index in a more modern style, you know without the thees and thous. Thank You.
18 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIn light of 1 Corinthians 15:35-44 where Paul says that the dead are resurrected in a spiritual body,?
how are we to understand the teaching of the Watchtower society when it says that the dead will be resurrected on earth in a physical body. I have been told that this scripture is only intended for the 144,000 but where does it say that? Paul talks of THE dead, not a select few. If there is any clear scripture that explains this then I really need to read it. It is of great importance for me as my son died in March and I was so looking forward to holding him in the new system. Reading this scripture, which is one often skipped over by the society, I can see only that he will be raised a spirit person and not a physical one.
14 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoJehovas' Witnesses, please can someone explain from the Bible where 1918 is shown to be or is worked out as
the year in which Christ began to gather the anointed. This is a serious question and not an attack on witnesses, I really would like to know. I have looked in my literature and cannot find a single Bible reference that relates to this subject. I do not require personal attacks for asking this question, just a simple scripture or two. Thank you.
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoDoes Islam require the destruction of all non believers (infidels)?
If so, where in the Koran does it say this.
18 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoJehova's Witnesses, in light of Deuteronomy 32:39 and Isaiah 43:10, how are we to understand John 1:1 in NWT?
Deuteronomy 32:39 "See now that I - I am he and there are no Gods with me". Isaiah 43:10 "Before me there was no God formed and after me there continued to be none. John 1:1 "In the beginning the word was, and the word was with God, and the word was A God." Surely if Jehovah had already said that there was no God with him, before him or after him this verse is incorrect, either that or Jehovah has lied, which is impossible as he cannot lie. Surely, the correct translation should be as in KJ which reads "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." As we know that Jesus is the Word then from these scriptures we can also say that he is God. I have heard the explanations using the 2 Corinthians 4:4 calling Satan the "god of this system of things". However, Satan, in this instance, made himself a god and as such is a false God, if we apply this premise to John 1:1 then it would also follow that Jesus was a false God, which of course he is not.
24 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIs there any evidence that the Tetragrammaton YHWH ever appeared in the original Nt documents.?
If it did not then why have JW's added it despite dire Biblical warnings about adding to or taking away from scripture. If removed from the NT an entirely different light is cast upon the role and deity of Jesus. Has a grave sin been commited? I need to know because I am a doubting Jehovahs Witness. If the name of Jehovah has been added where it should not exist then most of what I believe can be called into question. JW's please don't bother telling me to speak to the elders, Iv'e already listened to their version of why it has been added. If there is any historical evidence of it being present in 1st/2nd century documents, before the supposed great apostacy that seemingly removed it in the 4th century then I will stand repentant.
17 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoI'm currently a Jehovahs Witness but have some doubts?
I have read scriptures that seem to prove to me that Jesus is God, not in person but in nature. I am now questioning the organisations teachings or lack of in this area. I am afraid to just leave because I believe other scriptures, particularly about the condition of the dead, hell and the resurrection. My son recently died with no beliefs and I simply cannot believe that a loving God would torture anyone, even the most evil. I also cannot deny that applying Bible truths to ones life is a safeguard in this wicked world. Where do I go now? If there is a universal truth how do I find it? Jesus said seek and you will find, where do I seek? Agnosics, atheists etc please don't answer. I have a faith in God and Jesus that is strong but need to know the truth about them.
