  • American (or Western) society.....?

What is the biggest influence that you struggle with... as far as an element of society affecting your faith???

clothing, television, promiscuity, greed, status, etc.

What is it that you struggle with the most and how do you combat this and stay true to your faith?

    Peace and Blessings,

  • Purpose in life???..................?

My life has been rough for the last five years or so. Up until this moment i have always believed that there was a purpose to hardship. Now i'm not so sure.

I was in an abusive relationship and unintentionally conceived a child. I found out I was pregnant just after i gave my life to God. I gave my first born child up for adoption so that he would have a good life. Several small events happened in the next few years. Just recently i got married and was so happy. I found out i was pregnant again and was ecstatic. Six weeks after my son was born, my husband became abusive and terrible to me. I had to move out of our house. My husband begged my forgiveness and pleaded with me to give him time to make it up to us. I just came back to our house and found out he threw a large party the weekend we left. I only wanted to enjoy this time with my brand new baby since i had already sacrificed a child. I'm so hurt and i don't know what God wants from me anymore...

what do you think i should do at this point? and do you find divine purpose in your own personal struggles? or like me do you find them so vexing that they couldn't have a divine purpose?

  • Question to all....?

    Good evening,

What one aspect, belief or practice do you admire most about a religion other than your own. Please identify your own faith first.

I'll start. I'm a Muslim. I have a strong admiration for the openness that Buddhism's theology allows. I was taught as a child that the Buddhist attitude towards other religions as that they are all meant to fulfill a human desire... and i think that is an absolutely beautiful attitude.

    now it's your turn....

  • My humble thanks to my religion?

Thank you God for my name. Sakina Syeda Amin. Sakina meaning God-inspired peace of mind, what i found in my faith; making me the personification of my feeling and love for Almighty God. Thank you God for the respect you gave to the Muslimah. Thank you God for giving me a world full of women who are conscious of the way they dress and portray themselves in the world. Thank you God for protecting the Muslimah. Thank you God for the absolute perfection in the statement "La ilaha ilallah." The English translation of the statement being "there is no god but God." When i was studying religion the beauty in this simplistic statement amazed. For the solice i've found in my religion I humbly thank You.

*****That said, what are each of you thankful for in your own faiths???

Thank you in advance for your answers

    Peace and Blessings,

    Sakina

  • Asalamalaikum brothers and sisters.......?

    Asalamalaikum,

I do understand the Islamic reasoning that a woman is exempt from prayers during her period... but what is the hadith or ayats of the Qur'an that inspire this theology. Could any who have knowledge on this matter please share it with me. I am looking in particular only for hadith or Qur'an relating to the matter.

  • Theological question for Christians...?

I ask this with the utmost respect for your faith.... and only a desire to learn.

How do you reconcile the ideas of original sin and the age of atonement????

Why would a child at any age not have to atone for its deeds if it were born with sin????

  • Muslims.... your comments please?

I posted this poem about a year ago. A sister I'm friends with read it as part of an open mic in a spoken word cafe. She read it around six months after she had converted to Islam... and was, I suppose, having a hard time. I have my own opinions about this poem.... but i'm wondering about yours. I don't at all mind honesty, but i do request your respect.

    Peace and Blessings,

    Sakina

    " I am a kaffir today,

    Yesterday it was no so,

and tomorrow it may not be.

    Today it is not a hijab;

    only a scarf.

The word Muslim is merely a noun,

    a title.

    I do not submit.

What is so new of this life,

Where "reason oft is quenched by whims ?"

My eyes have lost their sight,

and my ears have fallen deaf.

Yet I know there are miracles to be seen,

And a message to be heard...

    Yet I am unable.

    I am a kaffir today.

    Yesterday it was not so,

and tomorrow it may not be."

  • Muslims, Jews, and Christians.....?

I put this question to the attention of Muslims, Jews, and Christians b/ we all believe in the same just God (i'm not looking for a debate on this. if you don't believe we worship the same God, then there are plenty of other questions...)

I've always been hit. Abuse has been a part of my life since i was a child. A friend of mine who studied psychology when i was younger told me that abused women will most likely be abused for their entire lives.... that they will likely always attract abusers. I didn't believe that. I believed that if you change who you are and improve yourself... that you will attract different people.

However, I converted to Islam three years ago and my life is completely different than before. I have different goals, i'm in the honors society at my college, i'm more modesty, confident, and happy...... but nothings changed. there's still a person in my life that uses me as a punching bag.

  • what would posess someone to impersonate a Muslim???

    http://answers.yahoo.com/my/profile;_ylt=Agwm3EaJV...

I understand that different people will have different opinions of Islam. If you look at our truths and think we are backwards and wrong.... then you are totally entitled to that. But why would someone want to create a false Muslim identity. This seems so childish to me. You haven't proven anything negative about our faith by this.... but only negative things about yourself.....

    what does everyone else think?

    Peace and blessings,

    Sakina

  • Importan Questions for Muslims?

** i asked this a few days ago and i only received two answers... i know there are more Muslims on here than that :)

Do you believe that Christians and Jews can go to heaven?

I believe this verse says that they can:

"Those who believe (in the Qur'an), and those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Christians and the Sabians,- any who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and work righteousness, shall have their reward with their Lord; on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve. "

    -Holy Qur'an verse 2:62

    it is also listed here

"Those who believe (in the Qur'an), those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Sabians and the Christians,- any who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and work righteousness,- on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve. "

    -Holy Qur'an verse 5:69
