I'm a quiet person, and usually I keep to myself. I try to play the "villian" sometimes in order to expand and broaden the horizons in the way some people think while being a little comical in the process so that we can be comfortable with our thoughts whether they are bad or good. I welcome criticism as well as praise!

  • Is this spanish good in my girlfriend's poem?

Some background...My girlfriend speaks Spanish very well, as her parents are Mexican and she was born in the US...however, she always tells me that she is "illiterate" in spanish. So I wanted to help her out but I don't exactly know how. Here is the Poem...it's for Valentine's day and she has a page on Deviant Art where she posts her stuff:

En este día de romance, te quiero decir

con alas de amor, el arcoíris voy ascender

con una rosa en mano, mi corazón ardiendo

podremos volar juntos, anqué estemos lejos

mis emociones son real, mi palabra honesta

no pido mucho pero tengo una pregunta

me hicieras verdad, mi sueño en cual

    en este día tan hermoso

    serias me persona especial

If anything sounds confusing or strange, please let me know or rather let her know. Thanks for reading.

P.S.: If you know of any websites that can help as well, please let me know some of the links. Thanks again for reading

  • Will Father's Day ever reach the same level of celebration as Mother's Day?

    It's been a while GWS. What's up?

Well I have been wondering about this because a coworker of mine was talking about mother's day to me while we were working. She said that mother's day always gets a lot more attention than father's day because it's usually the mother who takes care of children all the time while the father is out working. I noticed that when mother's day passed here, JCPenny was filled with people--mostly women--looking for gift cards, purses, etc.

To be honest, it made me think that good father's weren't appreciated as much as good mothers and it made me think that father's will never have that same level of appreciation during this day.

I suppose I am being a bit jealous with this question, although I am not a father lol. So please forgive me if I touched any wrong buttons. But if you do agree with this, will father's day ever equal out to the level of appreciation as mother's day?

  • Why do we men put up with women like this?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMoGj9QtZts

Don't tell me no women like this exists because I've seen this. Seriously, if a man acted like this, we are being abusive and not giving her space, yet since this woman did it, it's justified. Why?

Also those girls who say they are wild & liberated, but then this happens:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbRw3KOJkec

Seriously, when are we men going to wise up to women like these?

  • Does this family guy joke have any substance to it?

The reason I post this is because they have a joke on family guy where Brian tells Stewie how to get women.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpKrfxY8SOo

Not posting any transcripts (so you either watch it or you don't) but after the fact, Stewie follows the advice and ends up getting a date with his old flame Olivia.

Do you think this joke has any substance as far as describing the general outlook on what women go for in men? Your thoughts.

  • Why do you think men are losing jobs faster than women at this time?

According to news sources (CNN, NYTimes, etc..), men are losing jobs faster than women in this economic downtime. Why do you think that is?

    Also: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/06/business/06women...

Just one of the many news sites that are reporting this, but do you find this plausible? Do you personally think this has to do with gender inequality? What's your take on it?

  • Why do you think males are victimized more than women?

Yes, males are actually more victimized than women when it comes to crime. However, we do know that women have more victimization when it comes to sexual assault cases, but why aren't women victimized in the same fashion as men?

  • Do you think this is true when it comes to the way we raise boys and girls? Why?

It's already known that boys and girls are raised similarly but we know that girls receive a lot more supervision and rules than boys do. It's common in most families that have children of different gender.

However, let's turn to punishment and disicipline. It seems like families are a lot more tough on boys than girls when it comes to punishing a wrong action. Generally speaking, when a girl does something wrong, she may get a slap on the wrist or a lesser punishment than boys do, but when boys do something wrong, all hell breaks loose in the punishment department. Why is that? And do you agree? Why or why not? I know everyone's experiences are different, but we tend to socially believe these things.

  • What do you think about this experiment on discrimination against Muslims in America?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqbQWxHIn4U

Video done by John Quinones from 20/20 on the segment "What would you do?" He has a lot of really good videos. The reason I posted this up was because I personally experienced this type of behavior when I was working at a telemarketing company 2 years ago. I had a co-worker who was Muslim and deeply believed in her religion and hardly anyone would talk to her because they felt she was going to blow the place up or that she just wanted special treatment or whatever...it was always some lame excuse.

So hence my question--What do you think about this video and how do you feel about this sort of discrimination? Do you think people tend to blame a culture for a small group of people's extreme acts....aka al-Qaeda? What about other cultures, races, and even social standings such as hispanic people, Buddhists, or the poor? Your thoughts...Thanks for reading.

  • Is this a fair law for both men and women?

My state, South Carolina, has a law that specifically states the following:

"SECTION 16-15-50. Seduction under promise of marriage.

A male over the age of sixteen years who by means of deception and promise of marriage seduces an unmarried woman in this State is guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, must be fined at the discretion of the court or imprisoned not more than one year. There must not be a conviction under this section on the uncorroborated testimony of the woman upon whom the seduction is charged, and no conviction if at trial it is proved that the woman was at the time of the alleged offense lewd and unchaste. If the defendant in any action brought under this section contracts marriage with the woman, either before or after the conviction, further proceedings of this section are stayed. "

http://www.scstatehouse.gov/ -(Yes, our laws are online in this state)

What's your take on this law? Why do you feel the way you do about it? Answers don't have to be just based on gender, but can be based on morality issues, as it is a law under "Morality and Decency".

  • What do you think about this song, "If I were a boy"?

Just interested in your take on the song

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BVTyLqkez6A

Here are the lyrics since I understand people may or may notdon't like her music:

    [Verse]

    If I were a boy

    Even just for a day

I’d roll outta bed in the morning

And throw on what I wanted then go

    Drink beer with the guys

    And chase after girls

I’d kick it with who I wanted

And I’d never get confronted for it.

Cause they’d stick up for me.

    [Chorus]

    If I were a boy

    I think I could understand

How it feels to love a girl

    I swear I’d be a better man.

    I’d listen to her

Cause I know how it hurts

When you lose the one you wanted

Cause he’s taken you for granted

And everything you had got destroyed

    [Verse]

    If I were a boy

I would turn off my phone

    Tell everyone it’s broken

So they’d think that I was sleepin’ alone

    I’d put myself first

And make the rules as I go

Cause I know that she’d be faithful

Waitin’ for me to come home (to come home)

    [Chorus]

    If I were a boy

    I think I could understand

How it feels to love a girl

    I swear I’d be a better man.

    I’d listen to her

Cause I know how it hurts

When you lose the one you wanted (wanted)

Cause he’s taken you for granted (granted)

And everything you had got destroyed

    [Vamp1]

It’s a little too late for you to come back

    Say its just a mistake

Think I’d forgive you like that

If you thought I would wait for you

    You thought wrong

    [Male]

You know when you act like that

I don't think you realize how it makes me look

    or feel

    [Beyonce]

    Act like what

    Why are you so jealous

It's not like i'm sleeping with the guy

    [Male]

    What

    [Beyonce]

    What

    [Male]

    I said yo

    Why are you so jealous

It aint like I'm sleepin with the girl

    [Vamp2]

    But you’re just a boy

    You don’t understand

    Yeah you don’t understand

How it feels to love a girl someday

You wish you were a better man

    You don’t listen to her

You don’t care how it hurts

Until you lose the one you wanted

Cause you’ve taken her for granted

And everything you have got destroyed

    But you’re just a boy

  • What do you think about this statement? Does it reflect your thoughts as a woman/man?

"All the women I know, regardless of their race have strength that men could or would never recognize. Every day we get up and start taking care of everything that needs to be taken care of and we don't stop until our head hits the pillow at night (if then). There is no such thing as a 9 to 5 for us, it is 24/7 and all the while we have to put up with b.s. from the men who should be helping out but end up being another obstacle to be dealt with." (cristinakidd69)

Statements like these are what I used to hear on a daily basis, believe it or not. Do you agree with her? Why or why not?

  • Are there any branches of the MRA's movement?

I'm just curious. I keep hearing about all these sub-branches of feminism and how each one differs with each other....yet I don't hear about any sub branches of MRA thought. Would it be right for me to say that MRA's tend to think alike? If they do, is this a good thing? If not, where do the divisions lie?

    Educate me, please.

Disclaimer: This question is not a question for feminists who know NOTHING about the MRA's movement to come and rant about how horrible it is, nor is this a question for MRA's to feel like they have gained another member :). I just want information---if you don't mind sharing it....

    Thanks.

  • Do you think the Bradley Amendment needs to be reformed or repealed?

The Bradley Amendment is basically an Amendment which usually holds "Dead beat fathers" in contempt if child support is backed up. (Though, this is supposed to apply to both genders, I'd assume).

Here's my quirk about this law that I've had for a long time...Does anyone remember Bobby Sherrill? Bobby Sherril back in 1990 something (I believe 1990 itself.) The man was working as an engineer in the gulf war when he was in Kuwait. He was captured and basically was a P.O.W for a while. When he was released by his kidnappers, he was arrested because he was behind in child support payments.

(As a personal request, if anyone could find the results of this case, including possible appeals, it would be appreicated.).

So this brings me back to my question. Should the amendment be appealed or reformed? What can we do in order to hope that situations like this do not happen to undeserving GOOD fathers in a divorce or even women?

  • What do you think about the Putative Father Registry laws that we have?

For those who are not familiar with Putative Father Registry laws, these laws allow unmarried men and women who have had heterosexual sex to have equal opportunity in having a child. Here's an example to help explain what I mean.

Say I go and have a one night stand with random girl X from a club. A couple of months later, I find that the girl is pregnant and she has the child. She decides to give the child up for adoption because she doesn't want it. You find out that she is going to send the child to adoption but you can't stop it because you are not the registered father with that child. This law allows you to sign up with the state so that those who want to take care of their children, mostly men in this case, are able to do so.

Another example would be having a random sex encouter with a woman, she gets pregnant and then marries another man. The child is obviously not the married man's child but my child (Using me as an example again). So I keep in contact with my child, I'm always there for my kid, I help with child support, etc..and I Do this because I want to be that child's father. Well the woman and the other man take me to court and want full custody of the child. Now I didn't register with the state to say that I am the father and as a result, they are awarded full rights to our child (the woman and mine) while I lose out on the opportunity to watch my child grow up. This law, again, allows equal provisions for a couple, who have had sex without being married or anything, to be treated as if they WERE married and granted the same rights as if they were married.

Do you feel that Putative Father Registry laws are fair? Is this one of the ways men, who absolutely love their children, get their equal rights provided to them in family law? I welcome your answers.

  • Are these annoying things true about women in your experience?

    http://www.askmen.com/top_10/dating/53_dating_list...

Interestingly enough, the writer at the end of this list says, "In the grand scheme of things, women's annoying habits aren't that bad. Chances are you'll adapt to them in time, as will she when it comes to your annoying tendencies. Nobody's perfect, and I think that's something we can all agree on."

Do we, men, have to settle for women like this?

  • Do you take GWS questions seriously?

I'm very sure this will be deleted. The reason I ask this is because I've heard a number of men/women claim that they are more wary of the opposite gender because of men/women in GWS.

So if you do take these questions and comments seriously, why? Do you feel that we represent women/men in general? Do we act according to those biased statistics? For instance..I'm a black male. I'm not supposed to be typing in complete sentences and I'm not even supposed to have a computer or know what "Ram" is or whatever.....according to stereotypical society. The irony is my picture. A hoodie covering my eyes and not a smile or smirk on my face lol.

    Free two points btw.
