4 AnswersLaw & Ethics2 years agoWhy does my oil furnace leak water after having a tune-up?
Had an annual tune up on my furnace and that same day I noticed water behind furnace. It was dripping out of a pipe. I called tech. and they came back telling me I needed a new relief valve. I didn't have a leak prior to tune up. The cost about $500.00. Could the tech who originally cleaned the furnace, do something wrong. The day he cleaned the furnace he also changed the nozzle line. Not only did we get dripping water behind the furnace that same day, a few days after the second tech came to change the relief valve, we had an oil leak.. Another tech came and replaced the nozzle line again. So I had 3 different service days.
4 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs2 years agoRecliner defect, How to get your voice heard and action taken for a new chair?
I purchased a leather recliner chair from Bassett Furniture a little over a year ago. I had 2 problems with the chair shortly after delivery. I called the store and talked with the receptionist where I bought the chair and explained the problem. Number one problem was the seat cushion. When you sat on the chair you felt your were sitting on wood. There was no firmness to the cushion. They sent their technician man to take a look at the chair. He is the only person Bassett works with in CT that does repairs. He agreed a new cushion was needed. The cushion was ordered. 2nd problem was you felt as if the chair was leaning forward as in a tilt. You felt as if you were fallen off. The only way you felt as if you were sitting in the chair properly was when you reclined. The technician also looked at that issue but didn't find anything wrong. The chair was purchased in Dec 2012, delivered Jan 2013. The complaint of the cushion and sitting in a slant was made within 6mos after the delivery date. Unfortunately I am not sure on the exact date. The cushion was replaced. Several week later it still was not comfortable. I once again talked with the receptionist. I was told after by the receptionist that the store manager approved to have a thicker cushion put in. The technician came out once again to replace the cushion. He admitted that when he replaced the 1st cushion, he did not believe that cushion was firm. He never said anything when he replaced the 1st cushion and didn't share that info with Bassett. I had to call Bassett and complain. Thats how they ordered the 2nd cushion. Still the chair did not feel right. I spoke to the store manager and he told me to email him the problem. I did but didn't hear back from him a week or so. I called the store several times waiting for a call back from the store manager, finally he called telling me he was going to come and look at the chair himself. All a long he had me believe that he was going to speak to the district manger about this issue and see about exchanging the chair. He did come and looked at the chair in Feb 2014. He didn't see anything wrong with the chair, but he did say that our satisfaction was important and that he would see what can be done about exchanging the chair. He told me he would call me in a few days. That never happened. I called twice on separate occasions. He didn't get back to me until 2wks later. He left a message on the answering machine and said there was nothing he can do. I finally talked with him a week later about his response and he told me he would have the distract manager call me. She did call Feb 26, 2014. This was the first time I talked with her. She told me nothing can be done. There's no manufacturing problem and that 2 people came to see the chair, the technician and the store manager. The store manager sat in the chair for 30 sec. We are still not happy with the chair and we spent a lot of money. The chair is defected. The district manager kept telling me that in time the leather will get softer and it will be more comfortable. I explained that has nothing to do with the fact you feel you are slanted and falling off the chair. This whole ordeal has been exhausting. Its been very frustrating and upsetting. Bassett is not taking responsibility and has done nothing to solve this issue. Please tell me what step I can take next.
1 AnswerLaw & Ethics7 years agohow to decorate a bay window for christmas?
use to have a picture window and had my 6ft tree in front with lights around the window. The bay window has a shelf. Thinking of putting perhaps 3-4ft tree on it. There are some cheesy ones out there. Also very expensive. I can't use thumb tacks to put the lights like i did with the old window. Can't make any holes. Any ideas. I really don't want to put my 6ft tree. Its so time consuming. First year with the bay window. Wondering what people do to decorate for christmas with a bay window. Any ideas welcomed. any websites where i can get a inexpensive good looking 3-4 ft tree, short but wide. Otherwise I might have to break down and use the 6ft tree. Hopefully not.
2 AnswersDecorating & Remodeling7 years agoCan a company require you to train others on your position and withhold your severance pay tell you do so?
I am being let go from my company. I am the only person who knows how to do my job. I have been at this company for 17yrs. I did this job alone, but now they are splitting it up and having several employees doing different parts of the job. I was told that I needed to train these people prior to leaving the company. I was also told that I will NOT receive my severance pay unless I do so. Can they do that? Can I sue them? If so will that stop me from being able to collect?

1 AnswerPrinters8 years agowhats the difference between a physical therapist, massage therapist and a chiropractor?
Have extreme shoulder pain difficult to turn my head, bring my head back and hard time sleeping on side. Its my right shoulder. I feel also my neck hurts. I believe its from shoveling snow. Not sure which avenue to go. Called my PCP and she recommended to try a heating pad and tylenol. I was just wondering the diffrences between the above services and which one would be right for me. It doesn't help that i compensate by tilting my head in such away to avoid seeing double. Thats a whole other story. I know exactly the reason why I have it. Thats not the issue. But Im sure that may contribute to the pain.
1 AnswerPain & Pain Management9 years agoplease tell me if you can get serotonin syndrome if taking these meds?
I have been depressed for about 8 mos. In the beginning around the end of december i was having a hard time sleeping and became depressed. Prior to that I was already taking trazadone 100mg. Which helped me to sleep. I have been on trazadone for 13ys. It wasnt doing anything for me. So in december I went into a deep depression. He had me try several things finally i started getting sleep. I have been taken Trazadone 150mg and clonazapam. I started taken clonazapam day and night since I was so jittery and my mind racing. Now I only take the clonozapam at night with trazadone. I wanted to go natural so I went to my naturalpathic. He did several blood test and found that my serotonin was really low. He had me take L-tryptophan, taurine and L-theanine 1950 mg for 3 doses. I started taken 4 because that is what he told me and I go very jittery. I went down to 2. I started up again on 4 for the last several weeks. I have been feeling tightening in my chest but just felt it was heartburn. I wake up in the morning with my heart racing. And now i feel so jittery and out of my skin. On top of taken the trazadone and clonazapam my pcp perscribed zoloft 50mg. So know I am wondering if the combination of all these drugs and supplement has given me serotonin syndrome? My pcp when I told him in the past when he was following up on me since he perscribed the zoloft, that i was working with a naturalpathic and about the supplement he told me to watch out for serotonin syndrome.
3 AnswersOther - Diseases9 years agorecipes for low to NO salt and low cholesterol diet for dad recovering from open heart?
my dad just had open heart surgery about a month ago. He is very restricted on his diet. I am having a hard time finding recipes and ideas to make foods that taste good without salt and little fat. Also he is on coumadin so he is restricted in having foods with vitamin K. I hope to find someone out there who has experience with a love one or themselves who has been through open heart and can shed light on a direction for preparing foods. Perhaps a website etc. anything. Its very frustrating and he hates the little things that have been cooked for him. He has had to increase his water pills because he has been retaining water. That's a big concern because they don't want water to surround his heart or lungs. Its hard everything has salt even milk.
5 AnswersHeart Diseases9 years agoCan there be more to my feeling depressed?
I went into a total meltdown at the end of December 2010. I have no reason why. Nothing new has occured. It just began by not sleeping. Days became weeks. I saw my PCP he put me on Zoloft and increased my Trazodone and put me on clonazapam for anxiety. I have dealt with depression in the past. I first was put on meds for it after my brain surgery 12yrs ago because I was not able to sleep and feeling depressed. That med was Trazodone which I am still on but instead of 100mg its 150mg. I was taking a low dose of Zoloft 25mg these last 7yrs. But all of a sudden this melt down happened. My thyroid is fine and vitamin D. I have been going to couseling. But this feeling wont go away. I started to see a naturalpathic. He put be on B12 which he will test my blood to see if it increases. He also has given me natural supplement to increase my serotonin. The urine test he had me do showed I was very low in Serotonin. He says its okay to still take my other meds, I hope that is true? I am going to have my hormones tested. But is there anything that I am missing? Anything with the brain surgery. Tumor was removed and it was benign. I cry on and off, not motivated, have to push myself to do activities. I just dont understand why did it hit me this way. I dont remember being depressed this long. Any advice would be great.

2 AnswersOther - United States9 years agoWhy does my gas stove not bake well?
Just bought a new gas range. I always had a gas range with propane. We needed a new one. Boy I'm not sure if this range is defected or I am not doing something right. Well being that we just purchased this range a 2wks prior to christmas is not the greatest when you need to do some serious baking. Tried the oven for the 1st time. Okay so I understand all ovens varies but this is ridiculous. The recipe calls for 350 degrees 10-15mins bake. First batch it took more than 15mins and they were still very light color on top. I couldn't believe I never had to bake cookies for over 15mins. Did these same cookies in the prior gas stove not for this long. Put the 2nd batch same degrees and time and they burnt. Third batch lowered the time and they weren't cook so had to up it. This is crazy. This stove is only 2wks old. Called the store where I purchased the stove and they sent a service guy. He checked the temp. He actually told me that the temp of the stove was 25 degrees too high so he lowered it. Okay. We decided to test the oven again and bake more cookies. He seemed to have made it even worse. The cookies wouldn't rise, were flat, and took longer to bake. The cookies were soo hard. We threw them out. We decided to play with the temp. and we actually had to go 50 degrees higher than what the recipe said. More now that the service guy decrease the temp 25 degrees. They did rise somewhat but still very light on top and seems to take long. I have major baking to do for christmas breads, cookies, etc. I wish they would take the stupid stove back. What do I do from here? Do I call the service guy again? He seemed to have screwed it up even more. What is wrong with this stove? Never had this problem with my other gas range. Its soo true they don't make them like they use too. I should have gotten the convention oven. Please any advice would be great.
4 AnswersOther - Home & Garden9 years agoHow do you go about looking for someone missing who is an adult?
Well my nephew has not been in contact with family for several days. He is 22yrs old. Was kicked out 6mos. He is a herion addict. He went to rehab for the 2nd time. Family helped pay for rehab and getting back on his feet with food and rent. Once he got a job they stop helping as rightfully so. Well he has not returned any calls on his cell from any family member and perhaps friends. When do you start looking into hospitals and perhaps the police. And really can you file a missing report?? He is an adult. What can the parents do... They are worried sick. Dont know if he is dead or alive.
4 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police10 years agoHow many people on staff is required for adult daycare?
I work at an adult daycare. The clients in the program range from 70-98yrs old. Some have early stages of dementia and others just want to get of the house and socialize. Our group has grown and we now have 13 clients. I was wondering legally how many staff members are required based on the amount of clients? We do have a couple of clients in the second stage of dementia. Most of the clients do require some assistance and those with 2nd stage of dementia need to keep a close watch they don't exit the building. The place is not lock down. My boss keeps interviewing more clients to enter the program but nothing has been discussed about getting more staff. I want to know if there is a law on how many staff vs number of clients? and what other legal requirements are needed such as space? Place is crammed. Its just ridiculous.
