  • For those who think international adoption is wrong....?

Do you think it is still wrong when an older child says that they want to be adopted even if it is to a different country?

I have read several profiles of children that are stuck in an orphanage that want to be adopted. What about those children?

  • Do you think race plays a part in why a child is placed for adoption?

Do women ever place their child for adoption because it is biracial? If her family is racist, is there a greater chance she will place due to lack of support from her family?

I ask because I knew someone who was going to raise her child if it was white but place it if it was black. The race of the child did not matter to her but it mattered a lot to her family.

  • Why do these terms make me feel ill?

Just saw this on another post "heart mommy" and "tummy mommy"

Those phrases, though I am sure are not meant to harm, kind of grosses me out.

Yes I am an adoptive parent but I would never refer to myself as heart mommy and certainly would not refer to my daughter's mother as tummy mommy.

  • Do people really believe?

Do you really believe that people choose international adoption because it is in 'style'?

I did NOT adopt to be in vogue. I could care less what famous people are doing!

A child is not a fashion statement.

  • Does anyone with Lupus suffer from hip pain?

This question is about my 10 year old son.

He has had extreme hip pain for almost a year and it has now spread into his lower back. He does have a positive ANA test but all others were negative including those for arthritis.

I have had him to many specialists and they keep saying it is an auto immune problem but can not pinpoint what it is. They think Lupus may be possible cause of his symptoms and family history of it.

Does anyone with Lupus suffer pain in the hips and back?

  • Why do some think?

Why do some people here think it is better for a child to remain in their counrty of birth no matter what?

Let's say a child is in an orphanage because they have been abandoned by their birth parents. No one knows who their family is or if they even have one. There is zero chance of the child ever being reunited with their bio parents. They have been passed over for domestic adoption. (In our daughter's case she had a facial deformity that is considered bad luck in her culture so the chance of someone adopting her domesticaly was next to zero)Their only future is to age out of an orphanage if they stay in their counrty of orgin.

The other option is to be adopted by a family in another counrty. Yes they will grow up in a different environment with different customs and a different language but they will also grow up being part of a family.

Can you please explain to me how a life in an instituation is better than a loving family even if it is in a counrty?

  • Need statistics on pre birth matches?

My son is doing a project for school (current issues). I sugested that he do it on prebirth matches. He is presenting both sides, pros and cons, while focusing on the cons.

Does anyone have any up to date statistics on how many prebirth matches fail or other such info to help him complete his projects?

  • Will the depression ever go away?

I am already on Cymbalta and Lexapro, also in therapy, but the depression will not go away.

I feel helpless, sad, worthless, want to sleep all the time, food no longer has flavor and the worst thing is I feel I am no longer a good mom to my kids.

I pray ever day and night for it to get better and I really want to be happy again but I don't know how. I also want to stop obsessing over how to die so it seems like an accident.

Has anyone here overcame such a deep depression and found joy in life again?
