  • Show how you would decode the specific address F3A86 (base 16) using 5-input ANDs?

I haven't the slightest idea how to go about this homework problem for my microprocessors class. If anybody could help me out, it would be extremely appreciated. Thanks!

  • Who is actually on the US presidential ballot?

I'll preface this by stating what my question should already have made obvious: I've never voted before. I'm not sure what the ballots are like. Is it just Obama or Romney? Or are all the other less popular candidates still in the running?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I watch the news on television so I don't know anything at all about politics in America.

  • What is the resistance at R1, R2, and R3?

A 6 V battery supplies current to the circuit shown in Figure P28.14. When the double-throw switch S is open, as shown in the figure, the current in the battery is 1.00 mA. When the switch is closed in position 1, the current in the battery is 1.25 mA. When the switch is closed in position 2, the current in the battery is 1.90 mA. Find the resistances R1, R2, and R3.

I figured out R2 (it's 2400 Ohms or 2.4 kOhms), but I can't seem to figure out the other two! Thanks for the help!

  • How many metric tons of coal are burned per hour? (Question in details)?

We estimate that 270 million plug-in electric clocks are in the United States, approximately one clock for each person. The clocks convert energy at the average rate 2.41 W. To supply this energy, how many metric tons of coal are burned per hour in coal-fired power plants that are, on average, 25.0% efficient? The heat of combustion for coal is 33.0 MJ/kg.

I've tried everything and just can't seem to figure this out. Thanks in advance!

    C1 = 1 uF

    C2 = 4 uF

I've already submitted 4 out of my 5 allotted responses and I just can't figure it out! I thought I knew what I was doing (it seems simple enough), but apparently not. Thanks in advance for anyone who can answer this for me!

  • What's the most varied album or musician/band of all time?

What's the most varied album and/or musician (or band) of all time?

What's the single most varied album you've ever heard? Or the band or musician that's explored more of a variety of musical territory than any other?

I'm not looking for answers like "Nickelback because they have hard rock songs and soft rock songs!!!", but actual variety.

Ulver, for example, have put out black metal, folk metal, acoustic European neofolk music, avant-garde metal, industrial music, electronic music, trip hop, ambient, acid jazz, glitch, modern classical, chamber music, and music that's experimental enough to the point where you can't even fit it into a genre.

  • Do you feel dry sockets immediately?

I've just had my four wisdom teeth removed and I'm terrified of getting a dry socket. I don't smoke nor will I be using any straws, but I have to constantly swallow as my mouth fills up with saliva very quickly (which makes it difficult to breath) and I can't physically swallow softly (it's always a big, deep swallow so I can clearly feel suction all throughout my mouth) so I'm afraid that I'm going to give myself a dry socket eventually.

In short, if I suck too hard while swallowing to the point where I'm giving myself a dry socket, will I feel it immediately? Or could I have potentially given myself one already and it just hasn't begun hurting yet?

  • We all know of bands that have sold out, but what about those who have done the opposite?

Can you think of any bands who have anti-sold out?

I guess the term is up for interpretation, so let me give you my own for the term "sell out" pertaining to this question.

Metallica. In the 80s, they helped pioneer thrash metal and fused it with longer and more "epic"-feeling songs to put themselves at the vanguard of the metal scene in the 80s. They were unique, relatively innovative, and made interesting music. The 90s came around and they ditched thrash metal altogether to make shorter songs that each centered around one or two catchy riffs and a catchy chorus and no longer a focus on the instrumentation.

Now, an example of what I'm asking would be a band or musician such as Scott Walker. In the early 60s, he fronted a bubblegum pop group in which he sang and played bass for songs that others wrote for him. 40 years later, he's now one of the most experimental and avant-garde musicians to ever have walked the earth. His last two albums are unlike anything that you've ever heard and about as far from pop as possible. He would be an "anti-sell out", so to speak.

So again I ask, what are some bands or musicians who have went from making basic, catchy, generic music (not necessarily mainstream) to making music with depth that is entirely unique?

  • Why do many Christians only allow their kids to listen to Christian music?

I know parents who won't allow their 16 and 17 year old kids listen to anything that's not Christian music and this is something I've just never understood. The only logical explanation I can come up with is that the parents are trying to drill the Christian thing into their head in as many ways as possible so that the kids will be so brainwashed and unable to think for themselves that they'd never possibly question their faith.

  • How do I find my shared file on another computer?

I have two laptops....one with Windows XP, the other Windows 7. The one with XP is chock full of all my music files and I very much need to transfer them to my other laptop (the one with Windows 7). I right clicked the My Music folder on the XP laptop and managed to "share it on the network". The problem is that I have NO idea how to find this folder on my Windows 7 computer. I've tried all that I can think of and I can't seem to find any trace of my other laptop or any of the folders that I made available for sharing.

So, to sum it up, how can I find on Windows 7 a folder that I made available for sharing on a Windows XP computer? (The My Music folder, to be specific).

  • What word am I thinking of?

There's a certain word or phrase on the tip of my tongue, but I can't remember what it is or its exact definition. I'm pretty sure it's two words and Latin, but it's a commonly used expression for music that is seen as being cliche, generic, and predictable.

Again, I'm not positive that it's Latin or even that it's two words, but I know it's used a lot in reference to music and I think specifically to stereotypical music.

Thanks in advance for the help!

  • Which of the following languages is the most universal and ideal to learn?

I'm planning on either teaching myself Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Dutch, or Finnish, but I'm having trouble deciding which.

Basically, I want to know which language is the most universal and will open the most doors in regards to other languages. What I mean by this is, well, take for example the Latin languages like French, Italian, and Spanish. There are a lot of similarities between the languages, but the most ideal to learn would either be Italian or Spanish because they are closer in content to each other than they are to French. That's what I'm looking for with these Scandinavian/North European languages...a new language to learn, but also a language that bears similar qualities to other languages as well.

Thanks for the help ahead of time!

  • Could somebody please copy and paste a bunch of quotes from the Bible for me?

I was going to ask a long, detailed, intellectual question to all of the Christians on Yahoo! Answers that might actually have required a bit of serious thinking to answer, but I figured I'd save us all the trouble and just ask for some copy-and-paste Bible quotes.

    Thanks!

  • How do I get back my memory on Windows XP?

To make a long story short, my laptop broke somehow the other night and the only thing it would do when I turn it on is show the Windows XP logo with the loading bar for a few seconds and then it would flash a blue error screen, shut off, restart, and do the same thing again. The only thing I could to to circumvent this was to put in the original Windows XP disc and reinstall Windows. I did that, created a new user and all that jazz and couldn't find my old user anywhere. I checked out my C Drive, just for the heck of it, and it only had about 8 GBs free (which is about what I had BEFORE this whole fiasco)!

I tried everything I could think of, but I have no idea how to find all of my old files or how to delete them to clear my hard drive (or if it's even them at all)!

So basically, I was wondering if anyone knew why my memory is still all taken up and how I should go about finding the stuff that's taking it up (or just completely formatting the hard drive and clearing everything off). Thanks in advance!
