3 AnswersMathematics9 years agoWhy is it such a bad thing Obama is an "appeaser"?
The number of times ive heard people in the US calling Obama an appeaser and apologist leads me to believe that American fighting spirit and brutishness is not going away.
Why is it bad that Obama should say sorry for a few of Americas indescretions. The number of primarily innocent people who died during the Iraq war was between 100-1000(depending on source) times the death toll during 911. If this were reversed, not only would the US want an apology from Iraq, but they would be absolutely furious at them. Likewise with Afghanistan and other places who have suffered from US actions.
Shouldnt all this be apologised for and shouldnt Americans feel guilty about what they have done to Arab nations, instead of despising them?
1 AnswerPolitics9 years agoWhy is Israel America's new darling?
Im not asking this question to fuel flames of anger or anything, Im just wondering why US policy and rhetoric is so pro-Israel. The arguments will be predictable (rockets, Hamas etc.) but the topic is much too complex to jump to one side.
Life in Palestine, especially in the Gaza strip, is miserable because of Israeli occupation. Unemployment, poverty and lack of medical help and basic human rights (freedom of movemnt) are something I would be pissed about if I was a Palestinian. The blockade (which mirrors the German Berlin blockade the US abhored so very much) is only making everything worse.
I dont understand how everyone can have such double standards about such an occupation, when the US breaking free of colonial oppressors was the greatest moment in their history.
My question is, how is the ISraeli occupation not as bad as the English one?

5 AnswersXbox9 years agoWhy is europe such a bad place?
I live in Ireland, and am really sick and tired of the GOP presidential candidates talking down about europe. They keep saying that Obama is leading the US down a european path (ie greater welfare, equity and social responsibility)-and using it as a criticism.
The main problem with europe (which I realise, like Ireland is in a terrible state) is that it has followed an American path of lax regulation and over extension of credit. what I mean is that the capitalist ethos of 'make as much money as you can' has lead to the massive financial crisis we're in. Maybe if America had a less right wing way of the last few decades (with all the deregulation, tax cuts etc.) Obama wouldnt have to clean up as much of a mess.

7 AnswersCurrent Events9 years agoWhy dont the worlds top 1% just give their money away?
with all the wealthy elite meeting in Davos, trying to fix the worlds economy, I couldnt help but feel that they would do exponentially more work by giving their hoarded income away that waffling about creating wealth.
The very idea that wealthy people create wealth for everybody is largely a myth. You can see that by the fact that, as the 'job creators' had their taxes lowered in places like the US over the last few decades, growth amongst the lower classes (who sholud be catching up as the 'creators'create more jobs) was slow, and the gap between the rich and poor only grew.
If these greedy (frankly despicable, imo) people were to give their money to the actual real people, the money would not stagnate in a bank account somewhere, but would fuel consumer spending, economic growth. GDP would rapidly increase as spending went up, and jobs would be created in the process.

2 AnswersPain & Pain Management9 years agoWhy dont the general public believe in climate change?
Reading in time this week, i saw that richard muller, a well funded skeptic of climate change completely changed his mind on the impact of climate change and anthropogenic global warming. it seemed to me that at first he was skeptical about it because of a knee-jerk reaction to the issue, based on selfish reasons, political beliefs etc. After he began actually studying climate change he changed tack completely and realised that he was wrong.
The vast majority of lay people dont accept climate change, based on the same knee jerk reaction, without actually considering the debate or actually reading anything. With the majority of scientists in absolute agreement that man made global warming is occuring (though unsure of the severity of the impact) why are people still disagreeing with it. Is it the media, or just self serving parasites like the Koch brothers, who are responsible?
All in all, wake up!
29 AnswersGlobal Warming9 years agoHow can I tell between social anxiety and aspergers?
Ive hqad alot of trouble with mental health in the past, and still suffer alot from an anxiety disorder.
A few years ago I was diagnosed by a doctoras having aspergers syndrome. He said it was a very mild case, and ive always accepted it.
But now I think maybe its not aspergers. I have alot of anxiety in social situations, have trouble with eye conact and am very obsessive, which may point to aspergers, but also social anxiety disorder. How can I tell between the two?

2 AnswersDental10 years agoIs foot cramping a sign of PArkinsons?
i Know this sounds stupid, but I get cramps in my feet every so often. They feel really sore when it happens, and it normally consists of my toes seizing up. I know its a ridiculous leap to make, because Im still only twenty, but is this a sign that I may develop Parkinsons? My grandfather died of the disease and I know it can have a genetic component

5 AnswersMen's Health10 years agoWhy does america stop mexicans from enetering?
Im not saying that America should open the floodgates, but Mexican people should have a right to a good life, and forcing them to trek across the desert, risking their lives, is surely an inhumane way of dealing with them.
Surely someone who is willing to risk their life to get to the US should deserve more respect.
