  • Check engine light, reset, and gas cap?

Monday my check engine light came on. I did a full service tune-up w/oil change, p/s flush, trans flush, fuel line flush, etc. On Tuesday, the check engine light came on again. I took it back, they said car checking out fine, its my gas cap. I take the car and put a full tank of gas in it. The car is now at 1/4 tank and the check engine light came back on. I go to Auto Zone to get a new gas cap b/c I finally noticed that mine was a bit worn and loose. How do I get the check engine light to go off? Will it go off when I fill the tank up again and drive on the car? Is it harmful for me to drive with the check engine light on? My car is an '05 Chevy Cavalier w/ 130K miles.

  • where to begin with trying to conceive after multiple miscarriages?

I have not been able to deal with this situation after my most recent miscarriage. I have 4 documented miscarriages and I believe 2 others that I just blew off as really bad periods. Do I start with an endocrinologist?

  • Is my cat depressed because its winter?

I am trying not to be worried. Since the weather got cold here, somewhat overnight, my cat has been "depressed". She was very cheerful and playful. She would sit in her favorite windows and chatter and chase flies. She was very active. Because it is cold out I had to shut all the windows. I put warm blankets and perches in front of the windows (as others have suggested I do), but I'm not sure if its helping because now all she does is spend her life on the blanket and perch. I am glad she enjoys the warm blanket and perch. She is not active. Is she depressed or what?

  • cats and cabin fever -- suggestions?

My cats are inside cats. I take them out daily on leashes. The temperature here is starting to drop and the nights are cold. They enjoy sitting in the window soaking up the sun and getting fresh air. They enjoy their daily outing. This will be our first winter together. Anything I can do to help them transition to the cold weather? I'm noticing now changes with them that they seem more restless not being able to occupy their favorite window sills.

  • did i piss my cat off?

i think she's out to get me. LOL! Seriously. I walk she'll run pass me forcing me to trip not to step on her. Or she'll try to run in between my steps, thus causing me to trip. When I'm sleeping she'll sit her 12 lbs self on my chest (only after kneading). Or, she'll sleep on my back. She's started to take whatever frustrations she has out on my soft-covered toilet seat. Its shredded and quite embarassing now. And get this, when I'm working (home office) she tries to chew threw my internet cable. Right now.. she's not sitting in her cozy seat. She's staring me down from top of the t.v. a place she never sits. She's eating, drinking and using the litter box no problem. Could she be sick? Usually she poops in front of litter box and that's how I know she's sick.

  • Techniques to use to discipline my cat?

My cat is about 6 mos. She has a food allergy. She is allergic to store brand cat food. I feed her the lamb food. She eats it but would much rather have the store bought cat food I feed my older cat. What happens when she gets store cat food her face and paws swell up. She will spend every minute of the day trying to find food to eat. She climbs on top of my stove, cabinets, counters, tables, she'll even put her paw down the garbage disposal. She'll tip over the garbage can. I tried the water bottle. I tried crating her when she is bad. I tried scruffing her. Nothing has worked! Please help.

  • Changing Special Needs Cat Diet?

I just found out my kitten has allergies to cat food. I was feeding her Friskie's Shredded and Prime Filets which she loved. I'd occassionally give her some dry food. The doctor just put her on a canned food all duck diet. His instructions was to feed her the duck food only. However, she's not eating it. She nibble but she knows where the "other stuff" is. I try hiding it and she just rubs against the cabinets looking for it. I have to feed my other cat in the bathroom and my kitty scrapes the door knowing there's other food behind it.

I've read all the websites and previous postings that suggest slowly changing diet by mixing new and old. My vet says -- duck food only. This stuff is way to expensive to be wasting, So here's my question, should I ignore doctor's orders and gradually mix. Or, continue to put down duck food until she eventually starves herself and has no choice but to eat it?

  • Capturing Stray Kittens - Any ideas?

There are some stray kittens I have been watching/feeding for about a month. There were 5, but I only see 3 now. I have tried to approach them but they run. I leave food for them, they eat. I tried calling animal rescue to come get them - no luck. I posted an ad on Craig's List to let people know where they are - no luck. Tonight all three ventured on my patio. I left them out food and water. I tried to approach - they ran. Any ideas how to humanely trap these kittens? I have a no kill shelter that will take them, but you have to deliver the kittens to them.

  • Is my kitten from a backyard breeder?

I bought from a lady who trying to make a few bucks selling her cat's litter so she could have it spayed. I take the 8 week old kitten to the vet and at first she checked out ok. But now she is almost to the point of being a special needs kitten. Our weekly vet visits are draining me financially, but she's my responsibility so I'm not fussing. I'm trying to find information on behavioral and medical differences in my kitten and those who have not been backyard breed. My older cat you'd think would be the one with all the problems. I rescued her from an abandoned house, she was eating garbage, preggers and invested with worms and fleas. A few vet visits for her and she's healthy as a horse. My kitten has a colitis, intestinal parasites, a paw that I don't even know what's wrong with it -- its bigger than the other paws like her toes are permenately spread out.

  • My cat is sick, emergency room vs. regular vet?

I have two cats. My kitten (4 mos.) has diarrhea. She is eating, drinking and energetic but has diarrhea. I noticed today she's been in chill mode a bit. She sunning in window right now batting down flies. Last time she had diarrhea she would squat every where but the litterbox. She is going in the litter box still. Today, I noticed she is vomiting up whole food and bowels are more loose. I checked for blood but can't tell cause its liquid.

I called my vet to get her in immediately, she said first thing in the morning. I'm kinda worried after reading other posts on diarrhea whether I should chance it.

In the meantime, I stopped feeding her. I put out fresh water and that's it. I have a list of things she's eaten in the last 72 hrs. She likes grass and bugs. Wet cat food. Dry cat food (I mix them). She also still "latches" on to my other cat (surrogate mamma cat). Any thoughts?

  • What's causing the squealing and squeaking in my 2005 Cavalier?

My car has a squeal. The squeal does not occur when I am braking so I do not believe it is the braking system. My car is well kept and I am certain the dealership would have said something if it were the brakes. It was recently worked on: oil change, O2 sensor, and some other valve. The car squeals when accelerating, going in reverse, it goes away after a while, but when stopping (no squeal) when driving squeal. Could be the belts? Or pulleys?

  • Natural Pesticides That Will Not Harm Cats?

I have two house cats that enjoy sunning in the backyard on occassion. (It's their treat to go outside). I noticed that they eat the grass which has not caused any harm thus far. However, my lawn needs to be treated with some weed grass killer. Are there any pesticides that will not harm my kitties?

  • Is she sick? Behavior change? Needing attention!?

I have two cats. My 8 mos. resident cat. My 3 mos old kitten. They get along fine. They do everything together. They used to be great at using litter box. I had three at one time, then two, but then they only used 1 all the time so I took it down to one. My 3 mos old cat now has diarrhea and refuses to put solids in litterbox. She goes in a secluded corner. I put 2nd litterbox in corner on top of newspaper. She does No. 1 in litterbox. No. 2 on newspaper. So, I shredded newpaper in my shredder and put a 3rd litter box in bathroom. I watched my kitten strain to have a bowel movement. She was making little squeak sounds and it my other cat was meowing too -- kinda like cheering her on... (LOL) When she finally was able to eliminate the only thing that came out was liquid. I plan to take her to the vet, but gosh I'd love to save some money to buy a full tank of gas.

  • Should I be concerned re: new kitten?

I spayed my 7 mos. prego cat. I introduced a new 8 week old kitten to her (not her litter) one week later. The introduction was normal. Now they are best of friends. They sleep together eat together, etc. However, my cat tries to use my kittens litter -- so I thought, but what she was really doing was covering up my kitty's poop. She licks and cleans her too. She expects kitty to sleep with her too. I heard my kitten welching when my cat tried to pick her by the neck. I freaked. I not sure what cat planned to do. She is very affectionate. She likes hiding in the blankets. They have been lounging together in blankets where cat licks and cleans kittens. No aggresive behavior but it alarms me that cat is trying to pick up kitty by neck.

  • New kitten smells like cigarette smoke?

My new kitten smells like cigarette smoke and I've tried wiping her down with a warm towel to get rid of smell. Any ideas? I think it is causing some unnecessary hissing between my resident cat and new kitten. My resident cat usually warms up to new animals after two days or so and she's never attacked. She is very aggresive with new kitten and I think it may have to do with the fact she smells like cigarette smoke.

  • Normal behavior after spaying pregnant cat?

I learned the 7 mos. kitten I recently rescued from a friend was preggers on day of she was set to be spayed. Procedure went well. She recovered well. My concern is her post-op behavior. Her appetite is good. She eats and drinks. Uses box. She's interested. Energetic. Loves her catnip toys. What concerns me is her clingy-ness. She follows me every where! She cries for me to cuddle her. She wants to be in my lap all the time. She will jump on the couch and paw my mouth when I am on the phone to give her attention. She does this when I am in bed too. While she usually slept at the foot of the bed. She now tunnels beneath the blankets to sleep next to me. She also hides in my blankets too. She's more vocal too. She'll stop "crying" when I pick her up. I love my cat and she was spoiled before the spay but now its ridiculous. I can't get anything done around the house. I can't have company without her "crying" b/c she's not being petted. I thought of getting a 2nd cat to keep her company.
