  • Why do some people want to turn the USA into another Mexico?

The top tax bracket in the USA is about 35% with some social programs. In Mexico it's only about 25% with very few social programs and in Canada it's about 45% heavy on the social programs. Mexico has a poor running economy with a two tiered society (rich and poor) Canada has one of the worlds strongest economies with the lowest national debt in the G8 and a strong middle class. The USA had it's strongest middle class and economy before conservative tax cuts ruined our middle class. Just comparing our two neighbors shows how higher taxes, and more social programs equal a stronger economy, lower unemployment and lower government debt. Why are some people still supporting tax cuts when even a child can see what it does to an economy?

  • Do those that talk negatively Liberalism support Collectivism/Socialism?

The textbook definition of Liberalism (from the Latin liberalis, "of freedom"[1]) is the belief in the importance of liberty, equality and freedom. The opposite of liberalism (the belief in individual freedom) is collectivism/socialism (the belief that you are not free but have a duty to the "group"). Do those that talk negatively Liberalism support Collectivism/Socialism?

  • I have seen several on the left say that Bush took away many of our freedoms. Can anyone be more specific?

The only thing that I have found is the "Military Commissions Bill" (S.3930) which eliminates my right to Habeas Corpus. Which granted is a big one, but were there any others?

  • Is this a good way to see who's God is most powerful?

Most people believe that their God answers their prayers. Prayers on important issues like child birth and health. Can't we just go to the records and see which country has the lowest infant mortality rate and highest cancer recovery rate and then compare that to what religion that country worships? Then whala. We know who's god is most powerful and capable of answering our prayers?

  • Does Satan lead the majority of Christians Churches? Is this why Christians have high crime/divorce rates?

In the bible it says that Satan will start several false/fake churches to fool followers of Jesus. It also says that he will be a counterfeit of Christ. It also says there is only "one" true church. So from this we know that all of Satan's churches will be christian (obviously Hindu does not attempt to counterfeit Christ) So if most Christian churches are the false ones of Satan. What is the "one" true one? Is this why so many Christians are so immoral? High divorce, high crime, believe in murder for oil in Iraq etc?

  • Does emission testing take into account MPG or distance traveled while burning? ?

I have just read that many cars in Europe get well over 60 mpg. Specifically the Smart ForTwo gets 82 mpg. The high MPG model Smart car is not available in the US because it does not pass our emissions. In the US the Smart car only gets 32/40 MPG. I have trouble believing that burning twice the fuel to get somewhere is better for the environment. Does emission testing take into account the MPG or distance traveled while burning?

  • If Jesus was OK with abortion why do modern day christians have trouble with it?

Jesus himself never touch the subject (did not judge). Abortions were more popular in his day as they were easier to do. (just drink mercury) Followers back then did write on the belives of christians though.

St. Augustine wrote that a human soul cannot live in an unformed body. Thus, early in pregnancy, an abortion is not murder because no soul is destroyed (or, more accurately, only a vegetable or animal soul is terminated). This passed into the church's canon law. Only abortion of a more fully developed "fetus animatus" (animated fetus) was punished as murder.

St. Jerome wrote in a letter to Aglasia:

"The seed gradually takes shape in the uterus, and it [abortion] does not count as killing until the individual elements have acquired their external appearance and their limbs"

Jesus taught (and more importantly followed) "do not judge". Saints from back then wrote it was OK.

Why do modern day Christians go against the teachings of Jesus and judge their fellow man?

  • The Bible (Genesis) states the Sun is NOT the source of daylight. Science tells us it is. Who is right?

Please read if you are going to comment.

The bible (Genesis) tells us that god created Day (light) and Night on the first day. The bible also tells us that god created the Sun, Moon and stars of the on the fourth day. Do Christians really believe that Daylight is not caused by the sun?

    FROM BIBLE:

DAY ONE: And God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light. 4 And God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day.

DAY FOUR: And God made the two great lights, the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night; he made the stars also. 17 And God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light upon the earth, 18 to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19 And there was evening and there was morning, a fourth day.

  • Do Christians really believe the outer space is filled with water?

The bible (genesis) teaches us that on the second day God created a solid barrier (firmament) to separate the waters below (oceans, seas, etc) and waters above (outer space) The bible also explains that it is these waters that were let loose to cause the great flood of Noah. Do Christians really believe that if we shoot a rocket into space it will hit a solid barrier that is holding the water of space?

"And God made the firmament and separated the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament. And it was so." ~ Genesis 7

  • Should true Christians go back to the true Christian beliefs?

Original Christians were persecuted and killed by the Romans because they taught and practiced abstinence in sex. Even if married. The Romans thought this was destructive to society for two reasons. First with out procreation the population would die off. Second women were property at that time and should not refuse their husbands. Constantine changed the bible in about 321 AD to remove the practice of abstinence between a married couple and as such Rome could adopt the Christian religion. Should true Christians practice the original teachings from the original Bibles?

  • What motive did Osama Bin Laden have for helping Bush get re-elected in 2004?

Both Republican and Democratic historians agree that the "October Surprise" video tape Bin Laden released 4 days before the election was the only reason Bush pulled ahead of Kerry at the last minute. Bin Laden may be the world's biggest ***hole but he is not stupid. He knew that tape would get W elected. Why did he do that?

  • How do Creationist explain Noah's flood not being noticed by anyone else on earth?

According to the Genesis geneology, the Biblical Flood took place when Noah was 600 years old, which, assuming the earth to have been created in 4004 BC, would place the Flood at about 2400 BC (about the same time as the Pyramids were being built). Yet no historical records of that time period, from the Egyptians, Phoenecians, Greeks, Chinese or the inhabitants of the Indus Valley show no period of time where these civilizations were suddenly wiped out by a global flood. (they could, after all, hardly have missed it). There is simply no evidence whatever, from archeology, geology or history, which indicate a worldwide flood that wiped out all but eight people. How do Creationist explain this?
