  • Do Silly Bandz have a special meaning to them?

I just want to know if they're the new sex bracelets -- I wanted to buy a pack for my younger sibling (she's been asking for them but can't find them anywhere), but I want to make sure that they don't have some kind of secret meaning.

  • Has anyone been to/heard of Dr. Robert Frey, in NYC?

My mom was recommended to Dr Robert Frey..he's a chiropractor. She's naturally a bit wary of going to him, so she's trying to find more about him first. I figured YA would be a decent place to check.

    Thanks.

  • Applying to both Macaulay Honors and regular CUNY?

Hi, I recently submitted my college applications for Macaulay Honors and regular CUNY to my school's college office (I did the actual application online, but they wanted the print out to have on file). My college counselor told me that I should not have applied to both, even though I applied to Baruch Macaulay, and CUNY Hunter, City, Brooklyn, and Queens. I thought you were allowed to submit separate applications for this, as long as I didn't reapply to regular Baruch?

I'm mainly worried that I messed something up in the system, so any help is greatly appreciated -- though I suspect that my college counselor is probably wrong, as one should be allowed to apply to both.

  • Audio to text converter?

Is there a decent program that I would be able to download that would allow me to convert audio to text (as in, I'd speak into my computer's microphone and it would be converted into text in a word type document)?

Oh, and this would be for a mac.

  • Facebook hacked or something?

I just logged onto facebook and noticed that my brother had put up various statuses, such as:

-http://community-news.org/ seems like the job for u!

-Hrmmm, I wonder if we can do this?? i bet we can! http://citywidenews.org/

-Have you seen this yet? http://bigcitybiznews.org/

These are scam sites obviously, so yeah.

Obviously he didn't put them up, and now we're both really confused. Did someone hack his facebook or something similar? Answers are appreciatd.

  • Chelsea Piers or Lucky Strike (NYC)?

    Hello :)

My mother is planning my little brother's 13th birthday party, and she's trying to decide whether it should be at Chelsea Piers, or at Lucky Strike.

I'd appreciate it if anybody could tell me which place is better for that kind of party -- like pros and cons of each place maybe, and which is better suited for kids around that age.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Wierd white dots appearing on my furniture?

For the past few years, these really wierd white dots have been appearing on the lower half of my living room furniture. They're somewhat difficult to get off, and every time we do get them off, they return...and they're ever increasing. My mom thought that maybe my dog is marking our furniture while we're sleeping, but I find that to be impossible...1. He's completely trained, he NEVER goes in the house, 2. the spots just don't look like urine to me, plus they have no odor, and 3. I sleep in the living room a lot and I go to bed very late into the night, I've never seen him do this.

Here are a few pictures, the first two being of the wooden furniture, and the second being of a picture that's leaning against the furniture that's also covered in white dots:

    Please help solve this mystery!

  • Anyone hear about this White Lady in Perion, on Maplestory?

Gotta say it's freaking me out a bit. Apparantly when people try to talk to her they get d/ced, and sometimes banned for hacking.

  • Alternate endings to Hide and Seek?

Hi, I just finished watching the movie Hide and Seek, and after looking it up on imdb, I found that there are about 5 alternate endings. Would anyone mind telling me what each one was? One of them was tacked onto the ending of the version I ordered on demand -- Emily (Dakota Fanning) is in a mental hospital, rather than at the Dr's home with the 2-headed picture.

  • Cous cous - the food so nice, they named it twice?

So I just saw someone's facebook status, saying that this quote was from the movie Pineapple Express (which I haven't gotten around to seeing yet)

But I clearly recall this quote being in a Weekender's episode -- and long before Pineapple Express was made.

Is this quote from somewhere else, then, that both the show and the movie took it from? Or did the movie just take it from the TV show?

  • If you DID find the golden ticket...?

...would you throw the chocolate on the ground, like Charlie does, or would you eat it?

I always yell at Charlie in the movie, because dude, WTF, you're starving, you love chocolate, don't throw it on the ground!

Also take into consideration that the tickete may or may not make the chocolate taste terrible.

Yes, I am aware that I just asked a similar question :)

  • Whenever you unwrap a chocolate bar...?

...do you do it extra slowly, hoping that you'll find a golden ticket?

    I do.

  • Bruno or the Hangover?

I'm going to the movies with my friend tonight, and I'm not sure what we should see. She wants to see Bruno, but I think it looks stupid.

I'd love to see the Hangover, but she's seen that already. With proper groveling/begging, I could probably convince her to see it again.

So, is Bruno worth seeing? Or should I just aim for the Hangover?

  • Maple story global and europe?

So, I'm in the US, and a friend of mine is in Russia (Moscow).

She's in the middle of downloading Maple for Europe, but will we be able to play together? Or no? I know that Maple SEA and Maple Global are different, but I don't know about Maple Europe.

    Thanks.

  • Would I be eligible for Baruch College?

Having just finished my junior year of high school, I am looking into what college I want to attend in the fall of 2010. I originally had dreams of going to NYU, but my grades just aren't there, and I wouldn't be able to afford it, anyhow.

My transcript average is about a 93.15 (my most recent report card had a 97 average, which thankfully pulled me out of the whole that I was in, being under a 90 average).

My SAT scores were decent, but not great - I scored an 1810. I scored a 580 in critical reading, a 530 in math, and a 700 in writing.

I'm not much of an extracurricular activities person, but I did participate in Model UN for the past 3 years, and I know that I was selected to participate in the We the People competition in the fall.

I'm planning on majoring in English/Creative Writing. My dream is to be a writer -- I am aware it isn't the most realistic of goals, but it is what I want to do. My backup plan is being an English teacher.

    So, what do you think?

In addition, if I were to apply to the CUNY honors program, would I be rejected? I was told I'd need a transcript average of at least a 95 by a few people. If this is true, if I were to reach above a 95 average by next spring (which I am 99% sure I'll be able to do), will I be eligible for CUNY Honors at that point?

Thank you in advance, I really appreciate it.

  • Silly question, dream that's been bothering me?

So, with close family and friends, it's an inside joke that I'm clairvoyent. I personally think I'm just good at predicting things, and have good instincts, but anyway...

I recently had a dream that's stuck with me and bothered me - I can't remember the entirety of the dream, but what I do remember is learning that I'll have my first kid at age 27, but that I will die when I am 35 (I'm 17 now). I remember accepting this sadly in the dream, focusing more on the fact that I would die when my kid was only 8 years old.

I've had all kinds of dreams where I've 'predicted' things before, but I usually brush them off...this one's stuck with me. It's silly to focus on it, I know, but I figured I could use some input.

  • Dominican Republic Brujas?

I'm doing a presentation in my spanish class about the Dominican Republic Bruja legends - how they originated and what the actual legends consist of. If anyone has any information on this I would greatly appreciate it - especially if you are a native to the culture.
