Hey, I'm animal_lover13. I love fish, and have an aquarium. I also love reading, writing, cooking, and, above all, horseback riding. I have 3 cats and 4 horses. I do Parelli Natural Horsemanship, and love it!!!!!! If you have any questions about that just ask or e-mail me!!! I want to be a writer, environmental conservationist, or maybe even some combination of the two. If you want to add me to your contacts, that's fine, I'll probably do the same to you.

  • How to apply to UK and US universities with different application deadlines?

I am a student in the US and I'm looking into applying to several US colleges this fall, and I'm also seriously looking into applying to the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. Most application deadlines are January for US schools, but St. Andrews's isn't until May. This would be fine except don't most US schools require you to say whether or not you're going and send in a deposit to hold your place sometime in April? Therefore I wouldn't even know whether I got into St. Andrews until after the deadline was passed for committing to a US school.

Can anyone help me? I know a lot of US students apply to schools in both countries but how do you overcome this?

    Thank you so much!

  • PLEASE HELP!!! Good hotel recommendations in Paris - St. Germain or Latin Quarter :)?

I'm a teen and traveling to Paris with my mom this July. I know we're booking kind of late and a lot of great hotels are full, but we'd really love recommendations. We're really looking to stay in St. Germain or the Latin Quarter so we feel safe and can walk a lot of places. Preferably twin beds and no more than 140 euros a night, but we can check that out on our own. Any suggestions? Thank you so much!!!

  • Ability on your phone to put it next to a song that's playing somewhere, and it tells you what the song is?

What technology is it when you have the ability on your phone to put it next to a song that's playing somewhere, and it tells you what the song is and who it's by? I've heard of this before, and was wondering what it was. Can you buy it for any phone? Any info appreciated. Thanks!!!

  • What's the difference between a zoologist and an ecologist?

I think they both sound like fun careers but I can't really figure out what the difference is. Is zoology more about animal life, and ecology is more about animals and their environments? Any difference in required college classes? Also, what can you do with a major in each? Any info is appreciated. Thanks!!!

  • What should a 14 year old girl wear to a college graduation?

My cousin is graduating from Harvard in early June and we are going to Boston for it. I've never been to a graduation before and don't really know what to expect. What to people usually wear to that kind of thing? What would be a good outfit for a young teen? I think the ceremony's inside but we'll probably be outside a lot too. Thanks so much!!!

  • What are good things to do or see in Boston for 2 days?

I'm 13 and my parents and I are going to Boston in a few days for my cousin's graduation. We'll have 2 full days to look around while we're there, and I was wondering what are the top things to do and see. I know it has so much history, I hardly know where to begin. What in your opinion are the best things to see, or any websites that list some? Thanks so much.

  • What shoes do you wear with 'fashion' sweats in the summer?

I'm trying to convince my mom to dress a little more fashionably and one of my favorite things she owns is this really cute Calvin Klein sweat outfit. She'd just be wearing it for running around and doing errands, but she's not sure what shoes to wear with it, and I really don't know. I suggested Uggs in the winter, but what in the summer? Sandals, flip flops, athletic inspired 'fashion' tennis shoes? She's 54 so nothing too 'trendy' and nothing with a heel. Thanks.

  • What to do to get a barn ready to receive horses for the summer?

We have three horses who we have boarded for the winter in a neighboring town, and who we are now ready to bring back to our barn for the summer. The barn has been sitting empty for five months, and we need to get it ready for horses to live in it again. I just need to make sure that I have everything to do on my list, so nothing is forgotten. We don't have stalls, just one big paddock and a loafing shed. We have a heated tack room and a breeze way in the barn. What needs to be cleaned? Put away? Ready to go just in case? Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks!!!

  • Do some teachers honestly assign students to do a character analysis or compare and contrast of Twilight?

I love those books, don't get me wrong, but it just seems that since they are such bad writing and not considered good literature at all, they would not be a prime candidate for teachers to assign them. I've seen a lot of questions on Y!Answers saying 'I have to do a character analysis on Bella for school..." I was wondering, do some teachers actually assign these mediocre books for the class to read?

  • Question for Parelli people about the patterns...?

So I'm mostly advanced level 2, and have followed the levels programs pretty faithfully, and am now trying out the patterns. If you were just starting the program though, wouldn't the patterns seriously confuse you? They show you what to do in little 1 min. video clips, but they don't say how to do it, like they did before in the levels, or what to do for different horsenalities. There are a lot more options and tasks to do, in a nice, easy to follow, pathway, but it seems to me that if you didn't already know the 7 games, you'd be really lost, and not end up doing it very naturally. I know that they show you the 7 games and horsenality in the success series, but it seems that they don't tie them together at all in the patterns. I'm a little hesitant to keep working on the patterns, because they don't explain how to do it very well. I was wondering what you guys were thinking about this, or if I'm just missing something.

  • Is it better to use paper towels (uses paper), or fabric cloths (uses water and energy to wash)?

I was thinking about how people always say to use fabric cloths/towels because it doesn't waste paper, but doesn't it use a lot of water and energy to wash those towels? So which is more efficient?

  • Do you think that the root of all our conservation problems is our large world population?

I mean, if we had ten people on this whole world, we wouldn't really have any conservation problems. We wouldn't be causing global warming, or killing all the animals. Trying to help the environment is wonderful (I do it as much as I can), but will it do much good if we keep adding several hundred people to this poor planet every day. Say we have 100 gallons of water on this planet (just for arguments sake). That 100 gallons will never go away, it will keep being recycled, but isn't there a difference between those 10 people using it and 10,000,000 people using it? Our population is getting bigger and bigger but our supply of natural resources is not. I don't think that recycling will help in the long run much, if we keep having more people need our small supply. I was wondering what you guys think about all this? In your opinion, is population the source of all our conservation problems?

  • Why is my mare's hair standing up on her body?

I have a 12 year old quarter horse mare, and her hair all along her body is sticking up. Usually she does this because she's cold, but today it was 40 degrees. I've also heard horses do this when they're not feeling well, but she seems to be fine otherwise (energetic, eating well, etc.). She has her winter coat right now and is shedding, so could that be it? The only other thing I could think of is her front feet hurt right now due to improper shape (they're being corrected), so maybe it's because she's a little sore. Is that possible? Thanks!!!

  • Is it better to become a journalist or freelance writer?

I know the difference between the two, but not many details. I was wondering which you thought was better, and why. In both cases, do you usually stick to one topic, or rotate around depending on what they ask you to do/what will sell? Also, which usually pays more, and which is easier for a beginner to break into. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

  • What does a wildlife journalist do? What is it like to be one?

I think I might want to be a wildlife journalist (like the ones who write for National Geographic), but I don't know much about it. What exactly do you do? Do you travel to these places and write about the animals? Also, are you writing reports for the scientists, or actual articles to go in publications? What is the usual day that they have on the job? How much does it pay, and where do you start? Also, what would be the best thing to major in for college? Any information would be very much appreciated!! Thank You so much!!

  • I want to eventually become an author, but what other careers are there in the writing field in the mean time?

I absolutely LOVE to read and write, and all of my teachers say I have a talent for it. I would love to eventually become an author, and hopefully live off of that, but I know that that would be very hard to do, especially fresh out of college. I was thinking I should maybe start by being a journalist, to get a hang of writing professionally. Would this be a good idea? Or what other jobs are there in the writing field. I was thinking of majoring in english and minoring in creative writing. Is this what I would need to become an author? Any info regarding this is welcome. Thanks!!!
