I know a credit check or an auto loan can screw up the refinance.

But I am wondering if I can buy a car in cash when the refinance is in-process.

I have a few CDs saved for my son (7yrs old) as his college fund in minor custody accounts. My broker told me that they do not count as my property, so those accounts were never reported in the refinance. The closing cost will be funded by my own accounts.

If I use money from my son's CD account, drawing out as cash, and get a certified check to trade a car at dealer, will this affect my refinance?

If I should wait until the closing, do I need to wait until 3 days after closing?

Planning to go to a party boat at Atlantic Heights NJ this weekend with a large group of friends. We plan to rent all the rods we needed, and use the bait/lure that party boat provided. None of us have any real fishing experience/knowledge/skill.

I went to Black Sea Bass/bottom fishing a few time. If the party boat found a good spot, everyone seems to get at least some fish to bring home with (at least a progy or so). Bottom fish for Black sea bass/porgy were easy and skillness, but just need some luck.

Black sea bass season is closed in NJ. We plan to go for Striped Bass. I wonder if Striped Bass requires a lot of skills or it will be just as easy as catching black sea bass/porgy? Will everyone on the party boat usually get something (if it was a good day.)

Can I install reverse osmosis water filter without using faucet comes with it?

I want to get a RO filter for my ice maker. I do want want to dig a hole on my countertop or the sink (or using any existing holes). Is it possible to connect the "tubing to faucet" directly to the ice maker faucet? I only want to use drink water from the ice maker faucet.

Is this possible? Did anyone have experience with this?

Car info:

- Selling from very small local private dealer, so there is no information about the reputation of the seller.

- The car is a large SUV - v8 - gas 13/18 kind, ads priced at about 3000 below any other ads I found online, about 5000 below the average ads - even about 1000 below KBB trade-in price.

- The auto history report shows pretty good. It was first registered at TEXAS at 2005, state inspection at 2007, auto auction at 2008 a few month ago. Showed the car was used as lease that seems like someone returns the car to dealer after 3 years. (Now, I am in New York seeing this car.)

Concern 1 - Texas is famous for flooding.

Concern 2 - If there could be any hidden problem.

I am going to ask for an inspection from a mechanic I used for years.

Questions:

- Do you think it is safe to buy if the mechanic does not see any problem?

- Any suggests on how to identify if the car was but not reported.

- Any suggests on what to special inspection I should look?

I am going in China this May. I am wondering if there is any laundromat store with self-service washer and dryer in Guangzhou and/or Hong Kong. I know the hotel has dry-clean service, but I don't really like to dry clean my underwear and socks. Any suggestion for the best way on how to wash clothes during a 3 weeks trip?

Some questions related to after closing.

1. I closed my house on May 2007 with my attonery office's help. They have the original Deed mailed to me already. Is there another doucment "Title" should be mailed to me? (I have a mortgage, will the title be kept by the bank? or the Deed is the only document I should expect? What kind of other documents I should expect to get if there is any?)

2. I just received some payment coupons from the township about property tax. I know my bank's escrow account pays the property tax and insurance for me. What do I need to do with those payment coupon? Do I need to send it somewhere?

I have a 20k saving in CD that works as the emergency fund of the family. It returns me about 1k of interest per year. Someone told me that I can save the interest tax if I put the CD account under my 4 years old son's name. Is this true?

How will my son set up an CD account in Bank as he does not know how to write his name yet? Will there be any problem on taking out the money if I need to use them?
