It is in a cardboard box. Definitely not a cricket. I live in North Central Florida, it is swampy here. The box is on top of a table, so it's something that could get in there. It is a chirping, squeaky sound. Doesn't sound like a frog. Don't think it's a mouse either. Kinda like a baby gator sound--don't think it's a bird. I'm not fond of critters. What other types of lizards/critters make such noises?

riding their bikes in a busy intersection near your home. Let's say these neighbors have a lot of children, and you have kindly informed them about nearly hitting their children on a bicycle, face to face, only to witness the situation again and again. The children are 4,6 and 9 that you have witnessed riding their bicycles in the street near a very busy intersection.

I hate calling authorities on people. I wouldn't want to be investigated by the state. But when the parents are just not minding their children's safety and it's a tragedy waiting to happen, and you've spoken directly to the children and the parents about the urgency of the situation, what else, besides prayer, is left besides calling the state?

covering for someone else in her home? I'm just going with my gut. It just doesn't fit that a mom and a Sunday School teacher would do this. I'm certainly keeping an open mind, but do you think it's possible that she's taking the heat for someone else?

Of course good teachers are important,but with a four year degree, they can get hired in elementary education, get guaranteed benefits and retirement, get federal student loan forgiveness if they go to an under-served area and get 8 weeks of vacation during Summer (in which they can get temp work easily) plus they get all those holidays off too, during the year.

I know teaching is considered a profession, but teachers don't work even close to the hectic schedule that a doctor or lawyer or corporate accountant might work, let alone a small business owner who may not even be able to afford health insurance.

And a High School math teacher in my town makes more than an assistant state attorney starting out.

As I recall, David Horowitz (son of Sam) was also listening to the neighbor's dog when he went out and shot all those people. Name one serial killer who isn't crazy, too crazy to fit in to society. And if this guy begged for the police to kill him, doesn't that show that he knew what he did was "wrong"?

I think had it happened in Europe the outcome would be similar, as all that a guy like Josef Fritzl will face is 15 years.

Our system in the U.S. ain't perfect, but it's sure got the rest of the western world beaten.

I know the world is in a slump, but would you consider expatriating for a few years til this mess here clears up? Dinosaurs roamed the earth for MILLIONS of years. Sure, many species evolved and the ecosystem evolved along with it, enormous changes in the world's geography, oceans and likely atmosphere took place over these periods as well. But methane is WAY worse than CO2 in terms of causing warming. Wouldn't the volume of that "dinosaur flatulence", over MILLIONS of years, have caused temperatures to rise catastrophically and far faster than man made CO2 emissions allegedly are now?
