  • Connecting flight from Birmingham UK?

In December (Xmas) we are flying from Birmingham UK to Dublin then Dublin to San Francisco will our cases be sent to our San Francisco connecting flight automatically?

Also as we will have checked in at Birmingham will we have to go through a full security check again at Dublin again.

There is a 3 hour gap between flights is this a good time period to allow for a delay should it happen out of Birmingham.

Any other facts about connecting flights would be extremely useful.

  • Train tickets with reserved seats?

A week on Saturday we are catching a train from Birmingham (Sandwell & Dudley Station) to London Euston at 6am.

I have purchased tickets on line and been given seat reservations for 2 adults and 1 Child.

People tell me at work if the train was crowded we could end up having our seats occupied by just about anybody.

What happens if someone as pinched our seats can we ask them to move for us to sit down.

After all if many people purchased tickets on the day of travel and the train was crowded you would sit in any seat.

  • Question about noise from neighbours (UK)?

The house we live in is a mid terraced house and some noises do sound to other people.

Our next door neighbours who are tenants are running their washing machine until after 1am on some nights (although not every night) Its mainly when the washing machine is on final spin it sounds in our living room or bedroom if we are in bed.

    Question.

We have spoken to our neighbours and they said we are being dis-respective to them as they both work all day (they are home by 5pm) and have to wash at night.

What would you consider is the latest reasonable time they should wash and taking into account their work pattern.

PS i work full time also so i need my sleep although my wife is part time so washes in the day.

  • Vauxhall Corsa C problem, seeking good Mechanics to answer please?

Problem with emission engine symbol not going out when engine is started.

Called the AA Sunday morning who came and done a diagnostic check and stated the 02 (oxygen) sensor was at faulty.

Purchased new sensor (before cat) at the cost of £26 and fitted Monday night emission light still not going out on starting engine.

Contacted AA again came out done diagnostic recheck said all sensors working OK and not faults found. reset 02 sensor. (light did go out OK for a short while)

Started engine later Monday night emission symbol would not go off again and is still at fault.

    ANY IDEAS PLEASE.

Also AA mechanic said when car is started from cold the timing chain sounds noisy may need changing (53,000 miles covered).

COULD THE CHAIN TENSION AFFECT THE EMISSION LIGHT NOT GOING OUT.

ALSO HOW WOULD A GARAGE GIVE ME A HONEST OPINION ABOUT MY TIMING CHAIN.

  • Electrical question from the UK. Service fuse blown?

    Asking any qualified electricians :-

Last night our next door neighbours came round to see if our power supply had gone off, we said no everything was OK.

Their power supply had gone off because the service fuse had blown.

On calling the power supply companies emergency number an engineer can out, firstly he checked the fourth house from the dead supply and not our house next door.

Next went to the sub station (just out the back)

He went to the no power supply house and replaced the service fuse and left.

Will our neighbours get a bill for the service fuse replacement and why did the engineer think only certain houses working off the same sub station could have been affected.

  • ISA cash investment of £5,000?

    Question.

I am thinking of taking out a 2yr fixed rate ISA.

I see for tax reasons you have to give your national insurance number as part of setting the ISA up.

If i became unemployed would this investment affect income based job-seekers allowance.

Would it have to be declared?
