My 95 Kia Sportage was not ordered new with A/C but it does seem to have the A/C control panel in the dash and all the vents and wiring to the fuse box for factory A/C.

I am wondering if the evaporator is also installed behind the dash and if so can I just purchase the factory dryer, condenser, hoses, expansion valve and compressor to complete the system?

There is no aftermarket system that will fit in this little car but the individual stock components are pretty reasonable so I was hoping the factory design would be easy to complete. If the evaporator is already there it will make the whole idea much easier, at least I will be under the hood for the whole job.

I really like this car and it has low mileage but A/C in Fresno County is almost mandatory!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have a 2001 Buick Park Avenue with the RAP system that allows several accessories to continue functioning for ten minutes after the engine is shut off unless one of the doors is opened.

The other day it developed an issue where opening any of the 4 doors no longer disabled this feature, none of the doors activate the dome light either.

The only other problem I have found is that the manual power door lock switch's on the front doors do not function either but this car locks all doors when you put it in gear and unlocks all doors when you go to "Park" so these manual switch's are rarely used. The remote also works fine so this issue may have been here awhile and be unrelated but I just did not notice.

All other switch's on all the doors work normally.

Any ideas on what could have removed all the doors from the RAP circuit simultaneously?

I also could not locate any fuse labeled "power door locks" in any of the 3 fuse boxes or in the manual but I did check all the existing fuses and found none blown.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I just installed DSL Linux onto an old P2 Laptops harddrive. I need to mount a usb flash drive to aquire the drivers to configure ndiswrapper.

The flash drive is not listed in fstab and all the commands I have tried in the terminal have failed to find and mount the drive.

A) Do i need to add an entry to fstab to make this work and if so how?

B) What procedure do I need to employ (like syntax) to mount the drive?

From what I understand this distro is based on Debian if that helps.

My wifes 1999 buick park avenue started running very poorly, she pulled over and shut off the engine.

She checked all the fluids and everything was ok.

The car would not even engage the starter to try and start it again.

I showed up and checked the voltage using the dash computer and it read 11.2 volts.

I plugged in a code reader and got "random misfire" code off the computer.

I figured she must have lost the alternator and just drove it till the battery was dead, when the voltage got so low it could not maintain the electronic ignition it started misfiring and running poor.

I connected jumper cables to it and even after 35 minutes I could not get any reaction from the starter (dash lights go dead, small click). I pulled the battery out and put the battery from my pickup in the car (cables clean, everything tight) and the car still will not engage the starter.

I put her old battery in my pickup and it fired right up, so battery was not the issue.

I also used the dash computer in her car to check the voltage on the battery from my pickup and it also only showed 11.2 volts. I know that battery is hot.

All grounds from engine to body and frame are tight and clean.

If she had not had the rough running issue and "random misfire" code I would be thinking "replace the starter" but I have never seen a bad starter block voltage from a running car so that the electrical system could not get enough voltage to function properly.

If anyone has any thoughts on this I would love to hear them. I am going to go buy a starter tomorrow if I can't come up with anything else to check but this issue has some strange elements I have not seen before.

My question is how do I tell if the truck is compatible with a keyless remote?

I only got a key when I purchased it and I found some good deals on the web for a remote that is designed for this truck but I don't want to order until I am sure the truck can use it.

Is there some way to tell for sure before I order one?

Saturday night between 7:30 and 8:30 all the brain dead, gullible Liberals worldwide will worship their fake God by turning off their lights for an hour.

I will celebrate by turning all my lights on, starting all 3 of my cars and my lawnmower to let them idle for the entire hour. I may run the hot water on full blast as well.

Anyone have any more ideas how I can consume more energy for the hour? Any tips would be helpful.

Door repair question?

I have a door from my utility room to the garage that is very old and the area where the latch exits the door by the striker plate is cracked and impossible to secure the plate screws to.

The jamb at the striker plate was shot as well (looks like someone tried to kick the door in at some point).

I replaced the jamb and striker but I was wondering if there is a way to repair the door instead of replacing it?

I thought about making a metal sleeve the same width as the door that would slide over the area with a hole for the knob and the bolt. Does anything like this already exist or is there another repair method that would address this issue?

The door is a very nice solid core door so I would like to save it if possible.

Any input would be appreciated!

I have a standard RJ-11 phone jack in my office that both my phone lines are wired to.

I would like to connect an old style desk phone that has "hold" and is capable of receiving multiple lines.

The old phone is from a PBX system so I am wondering if I can rewire it to work properly off my RJ-11 jack?

My 1995 Buick is throwing two codes when the check engine light comes on ( P0341 & P0342) I know both these codes refer to the Camshaft position sensor but the "traction control" light comes on each time check engine light comes on with these codes.

When the CIL light goes out (every other start) the traction control light goes off as well.

I have changed the camshaft position sensor but the car behaves the same. I have gleaned from my research that the problem could be the wiring harness (not available from Buick).

I have cleaned the wheel sensors and all seems fine with them.

With the exception of the lights coming on the car has no symptoms, starts well, runs smooth, good mileage and power.

My question is:

1) Can this traction control light be related to the check engine light considering they come on & go out together and the only codes are for the camshaft position sensor?

2) Can the harness be removed and rebuilt by hand or is there some place that sells these harness's after the factory discontinues the parts?

I bought a 1999 Buick park Avenue about 6 months ago.

It had 125000 miles so I replaced both 02 sensors even though the CEL was not on, I wanted to make sure it would pass smog and I had no idea if the sensors had ever been changed.

We have put about 8000 miles on the car since then and it runs great with very good fuel economy, however a couple weeks ago the CEL light came on and when I retrieved the code it was for "insufficient switching O2 sensor 1 bank 1"

I have looked for an exhaust leak and everything is sealed up, wires and connections to the O2 sensor look good and the car runs great but if I clear this code it returns after 3 warmups like clockwork.

I will change the sensor again if I have to but 8000 miles seems way to early for a failure unless it is a fluke.

Does anyone know what else could throw this code without having an effect on the power & economy? Or does this sound like a junk sensor?

If an American Flag is hung indoors on a wall does it need to be lit at all times like when it is flown at night on a pole?

The car has a 5 speed manual transmission and I thought it might have something to do with when to shift but that is just me guessing. I don't have a manual for the car and it runs great but this light is annoying.
