The Antithesis
If the afterlife exists?
and I am this bored here in the temporal world in such a short time, what are some ways I can cope with eternity? I'm sure I'm going to be bored out of my mind come the first million years, be it in heaven, hell or some other existence.
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoIf God has no beginning or end...?
it was an eternity before he decided to create life. Many christians would say that god made us humans to love him, and worship him. Where did this sudden desire come from, after an eternity alone? What makes us think that we could cure him of this loneliness? After the first trillion years of heaven, who's to say that God won't tire with us, destroy us all and do something new? After all, the flip side to creativity is boredom. Without something new, without a struggle, life becomes meaningless. Is this what happened to the angles? Were they the first he created, got bored with, and then made humans?
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoWhy is it that Christians are so intent upon prayer in schools?
Didn't Jesus say
"And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you." ?
22 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoCan we all agree that...?
Can we all agree that one of the best things in this life is witnessing the wonder that is held in a child's eyes, regardless of species?
I was just watching my kittens, and the look they gave the dandelion seeds floating through the air was one of the closest things to spirituality I've felt in a long time.
Perhaps not so much a question, but I just wanted to share. Regardless of religious preference, what are some of the amazing/beautiful things you have seen in nature lately?
I myself am an atheist in case you are wondering.
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoAtheists on homosexuality?
There are a plethora of opinions from theists, ranging from the tolerant to the murderous, but I have just come to the realization that I have not heard many atheistic opinions on the matter.
Care to share?
16 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoSo I'm in this long distance relationship...advice?
He and I met online. He's a great guy--kind, loving. I'm just having doubts about the relationship lately. You see, he gets really jealous, and doesn't really want me to do anything without his consent. He says that we can't ever meet. He wants me to remain faithful even though I have never even seen his face.
Christians, please help me. No mean comments.
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoWhy would an all knowing God grant us free will just to bind us to forced reactions?
Pain and emotion are what I am referring to here. Now, this question is silly. I know. But, just for the sake of argument and getting the thinker up there turning, lets take a few suppositions into place.
Firstly, for the atheists, We are supposing there is a god.
Secondly, we are supposing that one cannot overcome responses to pain and emotion for a very good reason. One does not simply decide not to feel pain (or rather react to it) over night. It either takes training, or the lack of a properly functioning nervous system.
Thirdly, we are supposing you actually want to have a debate on Y!A and not just troll each other into oblivion.
That being said, Why would God grant only partial free will to humans? Fight or flight is a strong and almost uncontrollable response to danger. Sometimes one cannot help but to feel attracted and think thoughts about the pretty girl across the class room.
4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoOrder in the universe?
True or False: Order is defined by the eyes of the viewer.
Why?
My argument: I can tell my mum my room is in order, and to me, it may appear to be so. However, my mum can take one look at my room and say "THIS IS UTTER CHAOS!" (and has done so quite a few times.)
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoWhat is the purpose for faith?
What value does faith have in Christianity? Is it necessary or negligible? If it is necessary, why do young earth creationists seek to destroy it with facts and theories? If it is negligible, why believe the preposterous claims of the majority of the bible?
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoSpiritually speaking, what was the best bit of hate mail that you have ever received?
Mine was a series of emails from a Christian lady who clearly hadn't read the bible. She claimed I was a PMS-ing b*tch. I claimed I was a Male, and not completely ignorant of the bible. I then received a notice from yahoo, claiming that another user had reported me for harassment. What's funny is that she emailed me. Huh. Anyways I kind of miss the hate mail. It's quite entertaining to read.
11 AnswersReligion & Spirituality10 years agoQuestion about the apostle Paul?
Why are his letters considered the inspired word of God, and thus infallible, and yet the modern theology writers of today are considered the opinions of men?
4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality10 years agoChristians, why are you so intent on destroying your faith?
Is it not true that faith is based off of belief, which is trusting that something is true with out proof? So why must you destroy that by trying to prove, say, the existence of God, or the validity of the bible? Didn't Jesus even say that unless you come to him with a childlike faith, you won't see the kingdom of heaven?
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality10 years agoThe sad truth about Religion and Spirituality?
This section is devoid of reason, which is fitting, considering religion is most often without reason. Still though, atheists should be raising the flag of reason, and yet...well just browse some of the questions of atheists. I also understand and sympathize with those who have tried to reason with Christians, and failed.
With that said, I leave with a question. Christians, what would Jesus do? You should double check, just to make sure. Atheists, can we try to be more reasonable?
10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality10 years agoHave you guys seen that new board game called blasphemy?
It teaches us that the Life of Jesus was less about dying on a cross and more about fun and games.
3 AnswersReligion & Spirituality10 years agoSpiritually speaking, why do people spam articles they found on the internet?
Just to make a (often bigoted) and useless point. It's most often the Christians that do it and I wonder...are they trying to piss off everyone that looks at their post?? Why?
4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality10 years agoI ain't come from no ape?
Your use of language says otherwise.
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoChristians need God because they are afraid of death, the world, etc.?
I felt a little offended by a comment about how Christians are afraid of death, and thus choose to believe in "a guy in the sky."
Christians, Is God your "fire insurance?"
Atheists, do you truly believe this is why people embrace religion?
Others....thoughts?
