I am an adult adoptee, raised by my paternal grandparents. I met my mother when I was 18. I am 32, married since 1994, and the mother of 5 children. Two of my children were adopted from China, my daughter as a toddler and my son as an 8 year old. While I am not an "adoption hater" I do very clearly see the dark side of adoption and have felt the pain and grief of being separated from my mother. I do not believe adoption is always, or even usually, in the best interest of the child. I am an owner/co-founder of Informed Adoption Advocates - www.informedadoptions.com where my goal is to provide information, not only about the international adoption processes but also on the deeper issues such as ethics, corruption, adoptee rights and feelings, first mother, racism, culture and more.
