  • Is there a way to get a rough idea of ASVAB scores.... and some advice for an MOS?

I'm in the process of enlisting in the army reserve. I took a test (I think the AFQT) that I got a 93 on. From what I can tell this is a percentile score, and if so is in accordance with my ACT and SAT scores. The recruiters told me this was a really good score, and if I do as well on my ASVAB I can basically choose any MOS.

I got an ASVAB practice book and took one of the sample tests, but I have no idea how to take that score and turn it into the scores listed for the various MOS offerings. I'm currently waiting for medical stuff to be processed (I had ADD when I was younger.... haven't been medicated for it since like 2006) so I'm trying to prepare as much as possible in the meantime.

I'm 20, in a community college with 11 credits so far and a 3.2 GPA. After training, I'd transfer to an in-state university and be a part of ROTC.

I think my dream with the army would be to become a special forces medic. I know it's competitive, but I'm a competitive person. I've heard you have to be with the army for several years before you can even be considered for special forces, so what would be a good starting MOS? Something medical, something combat, or something totally out of left field?

  • What if we are in hell now?

Many atheists purport that God is evil, and that the way Christians describe God gives God the illusion of being evil or heartless..... but my question to you is, how do you know this is not hell? How do you know you were not already in heaven, and kicked out?

Perhaps this world around us IS hell, and that to regain our status, we must prove to God, ruler of heaven, that we are again worthy. Maybe every new life here on Earth (hell) is a new test for us. When you die, you are either judged to be worthy of returning to heaven, or you are reborn with a blank slate and another chance.

God doesn't kill anyone out of hate, he takes the lives of those who have already ruined their chances in that life, or of those who will immediately be taken to heaven. He either gives them a new chance in a fresh start, or sees they are worthy of returning.

When you are sent to hell, you are not sent to a new place, you are simply sent here to earth. Continue sinning, and you will spend eternity here in suffering. Accept Jesus and his righteous way, and you will be returned to heaven, you will be saved. You are in Satan's realm now, and you must overcome him and his tests to be worthy.

May God bless you all, and remember Jesus is the way and the light.

  • can minors be in possession of alcohol not intended to be used as a beverage?

my friend's dad drives an e85 SUV, and he distills his own alcohol at his house to use as fuel, something I hear a lot of midwest people are doing since you can make it so easily from corn

my question is, theoretically if an 18-21 year old wanted to make fuel alcohol, would it be illegal? I know you can buy denatured ethanol as a minor because I have done it before when I was painting my bike, but I guess I am confused as to how the law distinguishes what from what

does the law basically say that minors may only not possess alcohol intended to be used as a beverage then? is any alcohol not rendered poisonous considered "drinking" alcohol until it is in fact denatured?

  • Why do some men stress over penis size?

Just curious, I don't understand it. It isn't like girls sleep with you because you have a big ding dong, they wouldn't even know what you're packing until they have already decided to sleep with you, at which point they probably aren't going to not sleep with you because you aren't hung like a porn star.

I mean, I get if you're tiny, it becomes an issue of satisfying your woman, but then just get good at oral sex, right?

Honestly, if you're worried about what others think of you that much, get muscles. More girls I know would rather be with a dude who is ripped and average size than a fat dude with a horse dick.

So, if you're worried about size.....why??

  • Can someone verify this will work....led circuit?

I am wiring a set of led tail-lights for a go kart for fun. I got some 3 mm red leds on ebay, they are rated at 20 mA, 1.9-2.3 Vf, pretty standard stuff.

I haven't done anything in electronics in a while, so I am a little rusty. I am using a 13.8V power supply, figured I'd pick up a 12V regulator (7812 chip) from an electronics warehouse just to give me a nice solid number to work with. I crunched the numbers, and ended up with a 140Ω resistor.... now do I want to go a little over that (say a 150?) to be careful not to run the leds at max?

If someone can chime in and give me a "no, knucklehead, you're doing it totally wrong" or a "yeah, sounds about right", I would appreciate it.

  • Can I join the military to get money for school?

I am not going to lie, I have pretty much f-ed up my HS experience. I dropped out my junior year in 2011 because I thought I was way too awesome for school, then this summer it hit me that I cant just screw up my life now, so I am doing online school but I wont graduate until March, even doing extra classes.

I get some social security money so long as I am in HS, so my plan was to ride out on that money until I graduate, then join the marines after I graduate because I need to learn discipline, and I have heard it is a good way to get money for college, plus all the VA perks, lifelong brotherhood, and all the other benefits of being in the military.

my question is, what would be my best move? if I just enlist now, can I go to basic training and all, and just sit in the reserves until I graduate, or does it not work like that? also, what kind of assistance would I be looking at for college, as well as salary? I would like to save up some money before going to college if I can

  • did the blue jackets make a net gain this offseason?

even though they lost their captain and clear top scorer, do you think they improved their depth enough to call it a win?

also, who do you think will become their captain?

  • why is it only okay for atheists to "not know"?

I am a progressive christian, and I think the bible is mankind's interpretation of god's word. I believe in the big bang and evolution, they are just as god created them

but what I want to know, is why do atheists think that all theists think they know everything about the universe and god? I admit I know very little, and even I can see this universe has too many questions to simply chalk it up to chance

so many atheists think that god is superstitious, but really it makes sense to think that some being intentionally organized this universe to make sense. god is really a foregone conclusion, because it is inevitable that there must be a creator of some type

  • do you think the preds should sign weber or accept the picks?

there is no doubt weber is a talented defense man, but turning down 4 first round draft picks would be nuts. the predators have a great opportunity, if they spend some money on scouting and pick wisely, they could easily get double the talent. rinne will still be good for years, and they can develop their team from the back end again with talented defense men

    what do you think?
