  • How many Ford Taurus brakes lines rusted through?

The brakes on my 97 Taurus went out unexpectedly yesterday. Brake fluid was dripping on the ground under the driver's door. I looked there and found a rear metal brake line had rusted through under the driver's door.

When I did an Internet search, the first site that came up had what could easily have been a picture of my brake lines. They rusted in exactly the same location.

Further seaching showed many other complaints of exactly the same problem. One said that if you have ABS, you will not loose braking when this happens. I certainly did. Another says the lines are stainless and will not rust. Mine certainly did.

The rust occurs right at a plastic shield that some people think holds salt and moisture. It is too much of a coincidence that multiple people have had the same problem at the same exact point.

Anyone else have this problem? Sure looks like a design flaw to me.

  • Why do so many people put no details in their question?

I try to help by answering questions on subjects that I'm knowledgeable about. So many of the questions just barely give a hint at what the problem is. Questions like "Why did my computer stop working?" and there is nothing else.

Nothing to explain what it now does, any changes they made, what components are in the computer, what they do with it, how old it is, or any other symptoms they have seen recently. Each of those things is either helpful or necessary to answering.

If there are no details, one can only give very generic answers and guesses that are often a waste of time. If you read other questions and replies, most of the helpful replies are to questions that give those details.

Why are people so stingy with the information we need to give accurate answers? In the past, I have posted an answer asking for more information so I can help.

Often, we never hear anything more from the poster, not even to vote for a "best answer." They ask the question and disappear. Why?

  • Where are you getting such cheap parts to build?

There are a LOT of replies that say it is much cheaper to build your own computer rather than to buy one. I have worked with computers for many years and have built many myself. The parts cost me more than I can build a computer for.

Is that because I only use top quality parts? When I look at the cost of each part at dozens of different places, I still can't find them at less than I see complete name brand systems on sale.

Is there some trick that I'm missing or some supply places that I'm overlooking. Or is it simply a matter that I'm using premium quality parts and the people who are answering are using cheap parts?

Since some people will ask, the reason that I sometimes do build a computer from scratch is that the customer wants the best quality. Another reason is if they want a machine that will do best for a particular task. Many of my customers use the computer for a specific work task like video editing or DJ work.

  • Women only: would you date my friend?

A friend of mine works in a "gentleman's club." Actually, it features nude women dancing for tips.

Women seem to find him quite attractive, but he keeps telling me that he can't get a date.He tells me that once women find out where he works, they will not date him. Why?

He is mid 30's, never been married, smart, works out all the time, clean cut, no piercings, no tattoos, medium short hair, stylish dresser, funny, very smart, works full time and has some money. If you saw him on the street, you could easily think he is an executive.

His job has nothing to do with the dancers, he just happens to do what he does there. It isn't like he is a pimp.

Whats the problem? Is there anything he can do to fix it, other than work at another place? The money is much better where he is and there are not that many "straight" jobs in his field.
