  • Can I just request an MRI of my face since I have been in pain for several weeks?

Several weeks ago I was awakened by pain in my chest and lower neck. My heart was checked and I had a heart cath but it was not my heart. I had jaw pain so I went to the dentist and he extracted a molar which developed a dry socket. This led to more pain but I thought soon I will get better. I did not. Now I am having pain on my whole right side of my face up to the top of my head. In addition I went to a different doctor who said I was grinding my teeth and needed a grip guard, I went back to the dentist who said no you do not have molars back there so you do not need a guard. Meanwhile, I had a tooth extraction for a cracked molar on the same side. I thought my jaw and pain would get better after my tooth socket would heal. I still have a lump on my jaw, pain in my neck and chest and now a dry socket. I was put on a antibiotic two weeks before the extraction and have since gotten another two weeks of antibiotics. My jaw is still swollen and hurting, my neck and chest still hurt and I am starting to feel that one thing is masking another problem but I have no relief. I think the lump on my jaw needs an MRI since the dental Xrays showed nothing wrong. Why wont they order one. I am really worried about me. Please help.

  • How exactly does prednisone work?

Not very long ago I was having a lot of pain and difficulty walking. My PA said she thought I might have MS. Without insurance I could not afford the MRI Necessary for a sure diagnosis. She gave me a prescription for prednisone and told me to sign up for some insurance so she could refer me to get the test I needed. Well when I started taking the prednisone I noticed a great improvement and now I am pain free until it wears off and I am flexible again. When it is time for my next dose I start to stiffen and hurt again. Am I crazy or is this a real miracle drug. I was taking hydrocodone for pain but I no longer need it. Nov. 1st is my first appointment with my new insurance PCP and I just hope he keeps me on this wonderful prednisone but he does not know me yet. I would hate to not have it and go back to the scary way I could not move again.

  • What would cause me to be unable to stand up and walk freely?

For the past two months I have been steadily losing my ability to walk normally. I am scared. My doctor says once I get insurance she will run tests like MRI or CAT SCAN. Well in the meanwhile I was wondering if anyone out there has had this happen to them and what was wrong. It happened rather suddenly. I have had arthritis and diabetes for three years but this is a muscle thing. My muscles are in pain and weak. My family says if I use a walker or stick I will just get worse but I really have trouble balancing. They are in denial so I am appealing to you for consolation.

  • Does anyone know what could cause my legs to feel like they are stuck in cement ?

For the past several months I have had increasing trouble walking, standing, and getting in and out of chairs after sitting for any length of time. My Doctor has put me on gabapentin, hydrocodone and motrin which I take but I am just getting worse and worse. I do have diabetes and arthritis but so do a lot of people and yet they can walk and move around easily. What else could be wrong. I do not want to offend my doctor by asking. I guess he would tell me if he knew what was wrong. I can hardly stand this situation any longer. Please just talk to me if you have anything to share or have a similar situation.

  • What is claudification in arthritis?

My right leg is all but paralyzed. I have excruciating pain in my lower body but mostly in my right knee. Frustrated by just receiving pain killers (hydrocodone and motrin) as a solution to my pain I turned to a chiropractor to try a different approach to my pain. He said I had claudification but I did not quite understand what he meant. I cannot afford to go back to him until september. So I was just wondering if anyone out there could explain this in more detail.

  • How can I get my dogs to sleep on their own bed without hurting their feelings?

My daughter joined the Navy and left her pets in our care. Now we love them but I made a big mistake letting them sleep with us because I thought they were missing my daughter. The 85lbs one loves to put his head on my pillow and snuggle in. the little one sleeps with her head on my feet. I love them but I need more space on my queen size bed for me. My husband sleeps like a log and does not seem to mind them being there. Maybe I am just being selfish. I would like help to get them to stay on their own bed. My daughter will not be coming back for them. They are mine now.
