I've wanted to become an author since the 6th grade, and I want to know where I can begin to get my work out there. So far, I've won a writing contest for my middle school, and I have some work on Wattpad, but I want to start competing in other contest so anything will be of help.

why does a story like this http://www.wattpad.com/21775226-let%27s-talk-her get so many views and reads? I mean, it literally has no substance in the first chapter. None whatsoever. I just don't see why people read garbage like this instead of actual stories.

Can anyone read my excerpt and tell if it s a good action scene? I wrote this awhile back and it seemed OK, but I thought something was missing.

I need an app or software that can take my writings and put them into text. I would type them up, but that is not an option for me at the moment.

I'd like to know how names from different languages are formed. Names like "Kenneth", "Elijah" "Jeremiah", 'Urijah", "Thomas". I know their meanings but when I use a translator It's a completely different spelling from how they're spelled. I was thinking the names are shortened versions of different words in that language in one word. Like the meaning of elijah is "The Lord is my God" I was thinking that El is short for Elohim, and Jah is short for Jehhovah/Yahweh but I'm not sure what the I means in Elijah.

If anyone has any idea if this is true or not please say so and provide links if you could, and thanks in advance.

I don't get this. They claim to be smarter,open-minded, and better than any religious person. They claim to use logic and reason and say religious people don't. They seem to sound more like elitists than atheist to me.

I need help getting stuff off of my Acer laptop. It's a mini laptop and it doesn't come with a CD player. I've called Best Buy to help me but they told me I could only get the stuff off the hard drive since I didn't back it up. The screen is broken and I need help is there any easy ways to get the stuff off of the computer? Or am I doomed?
