  • How old were your children when they were fully potty trained.?

My son is 2 going on 3 in a few months. This is my third child and all of my kids were potty trained at 3 years old. Each time I have had friends and family say that is too old and that they should have been trained by 2. I am experiencing this again with the criticism of my son being too old to be in diapers. I have always read that average age was 3 years old. I am patient and let him learn at his pace. He sits on the potty and when he says he wants to get up I let him up. Sometimes he pees sometimes he doesn't. He pees on himself and I don't scold him I just clean him up and tell him to try harder. People say that is too soft and that is why he isn't trained. I don't believe in spanking or punishing a child for having accidents, that's why its called an accident. Do you think I am doing this wrong? How did you deal with potty training? Force to potty? Spank? or let the child go at his pace?

  • Potty training...pullups or just underwear?

I am trying to potty train my 2 year old and get him fully trained by 3 (2 months to go.) In your experience, are using underwear more effective than pullups?

  • What does this photo on Fox New's website look like to you?

    http://www.foxnews.com/ucat/images/197511_fox_fan_...

    http://www.foxnews.com/foxfan/index.html

What is with these people, and what are they trying to pull?

I went to the site to look up a news story and my jaw dropped when I saw the image. It may be a stretch but I am one to believe that when it comes to the media and the images they use, much like advertising, nothing is accidental.

Tell me I'm reading to far into this.

  • Country First? Oh Really?

This was the slogan of the Republican campaign. "Very patriotic" and "pro America" is what Palin said. Patriotism is not wishing for your president to fail as I have seen so many on here say. Patriotism is not continuing to be a divided country and pitting Republicans against Democrats, Conservatives against Liberals, etc.

So how can people say "Country First" and shout "USA,USA" one minute and then boo the president elect the next minute and hope for failure. Is that what being patriotic is all about?

  • Kay Bailey Hutchinson or Sarah Palin?

Who do you like better? Who would have been the smartest VP pick?

I thought for sure McCain was going to choose Kay Bailey Hutchinson. I was shaking in my boots for the Obama campaign.

She was on his short list so I have no idea why he would choose Palin over Hutchinson other than Palin being a hottie. Hutchinson is a seriously intelligent woman, she would have brought in the Independents AND the women. I voted for her for the TX senate and she is supposed to run for governor and if she does she will get my vote. I understand that Palin has exec. experience but she is NOT more experienced that Hutchinson.

    Thoughts?

  • Question for the Republicans; do you feel that George W Bush stole McCain's career?

Do you feel that John McCain should have been president in 2000? I do. But I feel like George Bush ruined McCain's chance at president by running an unfair campaign and lying about his daughter. Bush then sent the country to war and a lot of us who voted for Bush for a second term in 2004 only did so because we were at war and did not feel it was the best time to bring in a new administration. I almost think that this was the plan of Bush, knowing that if we were at war he would be reelected. I voted for Bush in 2000 but if I had known what a crook he was I would not have. Now because of Bush's failed administration, a large portion of the country is fed up with the Republicans. Even myself, I was a registered Republican and now I am an Independent and Obama supporter. Now that it appears that Obama will be the next president, McCain will definitely be too old to run again. If I were McCain I would kick Bush's butt after this is said and done because he really did steal his career, IMO

What are your thoughts? I almost feel like giving McCain a sympathy vote, but I've already voted.

  • How do you feel about McCain's use of a racist slur against Asians?

In 2000 McCain said to reporters on his Campaign bus ``I hate the gooks. I will hate them as long as I live.''

When asked about his use of the slur McCain refused to apologize stating: "I was referring to my prison guards," McCain said, "and I will continue to refer to them in language that might offend some people because of the beating and torture of my friends."

  • Was the Bush administration's "stimulus checks" an example of socialism?

How did the Republicans feel about them?

  • Do Americans realize that we are already a socialist economy?

I keep hearing everyone talking about Obama is going to turn us into a socialist nation. We are already socialist! Capitalism requires a degree of socialism to survive. We already have farm subsidies, oil subsidies, public education, social security, community and state colleges (yes the taxpayers subsidize those too), student loans, pell grants, grants for non profits... these are just a few examples of socialism in this country but there are A LOT more examples. Socialism and capitalism go hand in hand. Without a certain degree of it, our economy would totally collapse. Now, I am nowhere near rich, my only household makes about 65,000 on one income ( I am a SAHM and a student). But when I finish school and become better off I won't mind paying my fair share to support the infrastructure.

How can we fight a multi-trillion dollar war without raising taxes? What do the Republicans want to do? Keep borrowing money from China?

Well we have already been redistributing wealth, we have just been redistributing it from the bottom to the top.

While speaking at at $4,000 a plate fundraiser this is what Warren Buffet, the richest man in America said,

“The 400 of us [here] pay a lower part of our income in taxes than our receptionists do, or our cleaning ladies, for that matter. If you’re in the luckiest 1 per cent of humanity, you owe it to the rest of humanity to think about the other 99 per cent.”

Just a thought; what are yours?

  • Is it really possible to raise children who do not stereotype but judge people as individuals?

I am a mom of 3 and I have always taught my children to judge people as individuals and not by the color of their skin, race, religion, disability, economic status, sexual orientation, etc. I have been especially prudent in this because my children are biracial and I know that some people will judge them. I know it is natural for children to see the differences in people, just last year I had to talk to my 5 year old about laughing at a little person. But isn't it parenting that molds us and teaches us our values? I always hear people say "oh they must have been raised that way." I have done the best I can to show my children the dangers of stereotyping and prejudice.

Well recently my 10 year old son has expressed some views contrary to how I've raised him. So I am asking, in your own lives and in your own experience is it possible to really raise children who do not stereotype or prejudge and at what point does outside influences take over? Comments and suggestions welcomed also.

  • How do you feel about McCain today speaking out against the...?

...hateful and divisive behavior that SOME of his supporters have been displaying at the rallies? "Kill him, "Off with his head," "sit down, boy..."

Today at a rally he told his supporters that he respects Obama and wants them to show respect too. He made them stop booing and told them that this is not what politics is about...

I commend McCain for this and it restores my respect for him. What do you think? Are you as forgiving?

Could it be because he knows that the "trickle down theory" that the GOP has been promoting for decades is just a lie that helps the rich get richer and shrinks the middle class further and further?

I tend to agree with Buffet that the GOP does believe in socialism but just socialism for the RICH.

I don't believe in socialism I just believe in FAIRNESS!!!

  • Do you have faith that our Christian, Muslim, and Jewish...brothers and sisters will come together in peace?

I am just wondering if you think this is possible and what do you think it would take for all of the major religious people of the world to just accept each other for our differences? I am a Christian and I love and accept all people for who they are despite their religious differences. I think that this generation and our children's generations are more tolerant of differences. What are you thoughts on what would have to precede religious harmony in the world.

  • American/English speaking schools in other countries?

I have been considering leaving the US for some time and I found it very interesting that all major democracies in the world have American schools for English speaking children. I think this is ironic considering our general disdain in this country towards people who struggle with the English language. I was wondering how other people feel about the acceptance of our language in other countries.
