why does my "add: function value show zero instead of the sum?
In Excel 2013, the function =SUM(number1:number2) is supposed to add all values in column T and show the result in the cell the function is written in.
The value I get is zero.
I do not know what could be wrong as there is no error listed to target.
3 AnswersProgramming & Design6 years agoshould bridesmaids give gifts at the engagement party?
My wife is a bridesmaid for our friends's wedding next year.
Is a gift for the engagement party part of the ettiquette of weddings?
Should the wedding party feel oblilged to give a gift for the engagement party?
She says yes, because others have done so. I say no because the wedding gift plus the cost of the bridesmaid dress plus a bridal gift for the bridesmaid are more than plenty

I live in Philadelphia, PA area. MY family will be traveling to Florida in late June. All of us will need a sunscreen of sorts. Which is better - buy the normal sunscreens (coppertone types), or buy sunscreens in Florida that are made for the Florida sun?
2 AnswersPacking & Preparation9 years agohow to charge for painting?
I am going to paint a house for a relative of a friend of my family...IN brief - it sounds like a dliving room/ Dining room combination - my guess is that the rooms are roughly 8' high and about 15x20. Both have at least 1-2 windows, and am not sure about closet or adjoining hallways.
I don't want to charge contractor pricing. How much would you suggest I charge?
2 AnswersDecorating & Remodeling9 years agowhich is better now for my retirement?
I have a 403(b) retirement account (I am employed as a teacher, and am not able to have a 401(k)...)
Which would be a better rule of thumb -
keep the 403(b), and let it accrue until I am 70 1/2, and then have the distributions be taxed at that point.
or
Have the 403(b) be converted into a Roth IRA - have the taxes taken out now, and then have the Roth be tax free at 70 1/2
I am 49, and expect to continue teaching until I am 70-72 yrs old.
I know there are lots of questions to consider - however - I am just looking at the basic question of when paying would benefit me
3 AnswersPersonal Finance9 years agowill "Windows 8" require me to backup information?
Previous versions required backing up information as everything would be lost when downloading newer versions. Will Windows 8 be able to be downloaded without losing all data.information, etc.?
It is an undaunting task to find everything stored, and would really not be interested in a new version of Windows if I would have to back up everything......
1 AnswerSoftware9 years agoTax question about IRA distribution for nursing home costs?
My stepfather is in a nursing home permanently. It is highly likely that his IRA will be court-ordered to be turned over to the nursing home to cover outstanding monies owed to the home, or managed by a guardian - who would oversee his financial matters.
I would like to know what tax issues would need to be accounted for:
1) Is the distribution subject to any tax credit/write offs - the entire IRA would be directed to cover nursing home costs.
2) Who would be responsible for the associated taxes - My stepfather, his wife (currently his guardian), or the nursing home
He does not any income, nor does he have any sizable investments that would affect any tax liabilities. His pension and social security received, also, will not be large enough to affect any tax liabilities, either. The IRA has not been touched yet.

3 AnswersGolf10 years agoprobability of an event.....?
In a pool of 71 entries, 20 picked Ohio State as the NCAA champion and 13 picked Duke. The remaining entries have selected a different team all together........
What is the probability that, in a sample group of 20 people, exactly 18 will have picked Ohio State and exactly 2 will have picked Duke?
My son has this question on his project as the remaining question. It will not affect his passing - it may affect his final grade as being A or B. I am not sure which way to proceed with this......
Could you provide and answer along with an explanation/formula to tackle this????
Thanks all!!!!!!

2 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agowhat allowance number should I use on my W-4 tax form to have 5% of my pay withheld as Federal tax?
I am interested in the 5% withheld as a net amount, and do not need any other considerations factored in.
if the job earns 33800 for the year (650/wk paid every 2 weeks), and I consider myself as single - having no other factors, what should I enter as my number of allowances so that my tax withheld is 5% of my gross pay.
Thank you for your help!!!
3 AnswersUnited States1 decade agoShould my total hours worked in one week be considered as one group or as separate groups of hours?
I work for a franchisee who lists each of his stores as different entities. I work in multiple locations each week. My hours for each are considered as separate - meaning that my total number of hours - which usually exceeds 40 and normally overtime - does not qualify as overtime

2 AnswersOther - Yahoo Mail1 decade agoI want to create a column rule to add specific cells on a row - with the sum showing on the column.?
For instance. Column D is for totals along each row. I want D1 to be the sum of A1, B1 and C1. I would need this to occur for each row (D2 = A2+B2+C2).
Is there a way to set a rule for column D to work this way, or do I have to create one rule for each column cell as a different rule.
I don't use Excel at all, and only now am finding I need Excel.
Thank you.
