  • Statistics Null hypothesis help please?

Michael is a fulltime bartender. The IRS is auditing his tax return this year. Michael claims that on an average evening, he made $40 in tips. To support this claim, he sent the IRS a random sample of records for 43 of these evenings. Using these records, the IRS computed the sample average and found it to be x=50 with sample standard deviation of s = 32. Find the associated sample z value and P-value. Do these receipts indicate that Michael received more than an average of $40 worth of tips last year to a 1% level of significance?

  • Statistics null test?

A random sample of 68 divorced men with incomes of $75,000 or more per year were asked how long their marriage lasted before the divorce. The sample mean was 8.1 years with sample standard deviation 2.2 years. An independent random sample of 51 divorced men with incomes in the range $30,000 to 74,999 were asked the same question. For this group the sample mean was 7.8 years with sample standard deviation 2.6 years. Test to see if there is a difference either way in the mean length of marriage for these income groups. Use a 5% significance level.

  • Null hypothesis test?

Statistical Abstracts (117th edition) reports that the national average amount a single person spends annually for housing is $10,465. A random sample of 20 householders living in the San Francisco Bay area had a sample mean housing cost $14,575 with standard deviation $4,580. Test to see if the mean housing cost in the San Francisco Bay area is higher than the national average. Use a 1%significance level.

What is the level of significance? State the null and the alternate hypotheses

    What sampling distribution should I use (z, t, ..)?

What is the value of the sample test statistic?

How can I find (or estimate) the P-value .

State if you reject or fail to reject the null hypothesis? Are the data statistically significant at level α?

State your conclusions in the context of the application.

  • Statistics challenge question?

If a student converts her test 1 score in statistics class to a z-score and let say it turns out to be 2.2. What can say about the actual score and how would you compare it to the mean?

    Thanks for your help

  • Statistics probabilities help please?

Government documents show that the age at first marriage for U.S. citizens is approximatly normally distributed for both men and women. For men, the average age is about 27 years, and for women the average age is about 24 years. For both sexes, the standard deviation is about 2.5 years.

    a) If the distribution is symmetrical and mount shaped (such as the normal distribution), why would you expect the mean, median, and mode to be equal?

    b) Consider the age at first marriage in 1995. What is the probability that a man selected at random was over age 30 at the time of his first marriage? What is the probability that he was under age 20? What is the probability that he was between 20 and 30?

    c) Consider the age at first marriage in 1995. What is the probability that a woman selected at random was over age 28 at the time of her first marriage? What is the probability that she was under age 18? What is the probability that she was between 18 and 28?

    d) At what age were only 10% of eleligible men (who had never been married before) left?

    e) At what age were only 10% of eligible women (who had never been married before) left?

  • Probabilities?

Suppose that you take a 20 question multiple-choice quiz by guessing. Each question has exactly one correct answer of the four alternatives given.

    a. What is the probability of getting exactly 10 questions correctly?

    b. What is the probability of getting at most 10 questions correctly?

    c. What is the probability of getting at least 2 questions correctly?

    d. What is the probability of getting all 20 questions correctly?

    e. What is the probability of getting all 20 questions incorrectly?

  • physics please help?

A skier is pulled up a slope at a constant velocity by a tow bar. The slope is inclined at 20.6 ° with respect to the horizontal. The force applied to the skier by the tow bar is parallel to the slope. The skier's mass is 52.3 kg, and the coefficient of kinetic friction between the skis and the snow is 0.183. Find the magnitude of the force that the tow bar exerts on the skier.

  • Physics- Newton's laws of motion?

    I have two questions:

    1. A 52.5-kg crate rests on a level floor at a shipping dock. The coefficients of static and kinetic friction are 0.698 and 0.371, respectively. What horizontal pushing force is required to (a) just start the crate moving and (b) slide the crate across the dock at a constant speed?

    2. A fisherman is fishing from a bridge and is using a "55.0-N test line." In other words, the line will sustain a maximum force of 55.0 N without breaking. What is the weight of the heaviest fish that can be pulled up vertically, when the line is reeled in (a) at constant speed and (b) with an acceleration whose magnitude is 2.99 m/s2?

Thanks for your help in advance

  • Physics!!!!!?

The 1994 Winter Olympics included the aerials competition in skiing. In this event skiers speed down a ramp that slopes sharply upward at the end. The sharp upward slope launches them into the air, where they perform acrobatic maneuvers. In the women's competition, the end of a typical launch ramp is directed 63° above the horizontal. With this launch angle, a skier attains a height of 14.0 m above the end of the ramp. What is the skier's launch speed?

  • Can I delay my period despite not being on the Pill?

Hi everyone! I am getting married next summer. After booking the hall and everything I found out that I should be getting my period 3 days before the wedding date. I don't want to go on the pill, but I want to delay my period a week after the wedding or get it earlier so that I wouldn't have it on my wedding night and -hopefully- the first week of my marriage. I am 19 years old and a virgin.

Expert answers only please and thanks in advance.
