  • Do I qualify to sit for the CPA exam?

I am considering taking the CPA exam and wondering if I meet the required criteria. At the time of the exam, I will have the following qualifications:

-MBA and Bachelors degree with a major in finance and minor in accounting: total of 165 credit hours completed but only about 21 of those hours in accounting

-4 years of experience in corporate accounting at a fortune 500 company with management experience

  • Can I be a math tutor?

I have an undergrad degree in Finance and am half way through a MBA program (will finish in April of next year). I have always been strong in math - A's in both of my calculus courses in undergrad as well as good marks in algebra and statistics. I have worked in finance/accounting for the last three years so have a pretty wide experience with numbers. Could I be a private tutor? How would I go about getting work as a tutor? How much could I make per hour? Do I need some sort of certification to tutor or does my educational background qualify me? I would be interested in helping kids as young as 1st grade and as old as college level.

  • is now the right time to leave my job?

I am working for a large, growing company that is paying 100% of my tuition costs for my MBA. I started my MBA in January and will not have it completed until April of 2012, but am feeling very bored and stagnant at the job I am at now. I have been there 2 and a half years and feel like I have learned everything I can, and no longer feel challenged/stimulated by the job. The job is also in an undesireable location and I have to either live in the middle of nowhere or have a 50 minute commute to the nearest city.

Would it be a dumb idea for me to leave a good company that is paying me a competitive salary and covering 100% of my MBA tuition? If I was able to get a job at another company, do you think theres a chance they would pay for the rest of the MBA program? If it were you, would you stick it out at the current job until the mba program is completed or take the risk of leaving the company and starting fresh somewhere else? I really want to leave and get a new job but am worried another company may not cover my tuition right away and I would be the new guy on the chopping block for layoffs with the current recession we are in.

  • Am I being paid a fair salary?

I have a bachelors degree with a major in finance and minor in accounting. I work in the accounting department for a fortune 500 company and make $54,000 per year. I graduated with my bachelors in December of 2007 and have been working full time for 2 and a half years. I am also working on my MBA currently. What are the average salaries for finance majors or business people working for big companies? Does this sound like a fair salary given my education, time since graduation, and the fact I am working on my masters?
