How do I remove a faucet nut that just won't budge?
I am putting in a new faucet. I bought a basin wrench at Home Depot and tried removing the faucet nuts. They wouldn't budge. I saw a solution on You Tube, using the hole in the handle of another wrench to slide over the metal turn piece on the tool , for leverage. After three tries I got one undone. I tried the same thing on the second nut and felt it turning and turning slowly and then the wrench came off the nut. I looked at the tube I'd hitched the other wrench to and had bent it in an L shape! The nut didn't budge. I knew that mineral deposits probably are holding it like glue. I poured white vinegar over it , hoping it would eat it's way through the deposits on the threads, like it eats through rust. So let it be overnight and turned the tool tube the other way and used the other wrench to give me leverage, I gave it all my energy I had left, and it slipped off scraping my entire side of my hand in the process. Now with two band aids on my hand, after bleeding, I'm at a loss as to how to get this nutty nut unscrewed. I can't afford a plumber. That's why I did it myself. Would have been an easy job had someone invented a basin wrench with a lip around the top to keep it from sliding down once clamped on. Any ideas how I can get this nut unscrewed within a very tight space? It's driving me nuts! Pun intended.
