12 AnswersNotices and Errors3 years agoWhat's the name of this 1980s movie?
Young man has a flashy, black custom car, and it immediately gets stolen (and stripped). He spends the rest of the movie trying to get the car back, piece by piece.
The only piece I remember was a gear shift with a skull head.
Anybody remember this? It would have been a "B" movie, or it wouldn't have been on USA "Up All Night".

I have questions about Native American history and culture, particularly about Comanche and Lakota, but also others. I'd like to get information FROM Native Americans, and not simply ABOUT Native Americans.

I'd like to find some software (or maybe even just some graphics) that would let me make an example city downtown map, with streets, buildings, etc. I know I can simply draw some street grids, lay out some blocks, and put some squares for the buildings. I've done it before. But I'd like to make something that looks kind of nice or cute or eye-catching. This is for an English language lesson on giving directions. Anybody know of software for this?

On an exercise bike, I could maintain a pace. On a bicycle, I have to stop and start, slow down, speed up, etc according to traffic. Which is better for health and fitness, the heart, etc.?
5 AnswersCycling10 years agoSongs with a message or purpose?
I've been really interested by the recent song "United Breaks Guitars"
http://www.davecarrollmusic.com/story/united-break...
Does anyone know of any similar cases where music has been used as a medium of communication, either to inform, or get people to do something, or change the way we think?
I'm not really interested in '60s protest songs or 70's environmental exploitation songs. I'm interested in something more recent, more personal.
Any ideas?

2 AnswersPainting1 decade agoGood music, good videos?
I'm looking for some good music, any genre, with strong lyrics (not too simple, not too repetitive, not too abstract or oblique or mysterious), with or without an interesting video. I want something that could serve as a basis for classroom discussion on any topic. I'm looking for either an awesome song with a simple video, an awesome video with a simple song, or best yet, an awesome song with an awesome video. I've already looked at the MTV and VH1 "best videos" list and most just don't do it for me: though I did choose REM's "Everybody Hurts" as having a strong message in the lyrics and an interesting video. Ideas?
11 AnswersOther - Music1 decade agoWhat are some great SHORT FILMS?
I'm thinking of "Ten Steps" by Brendan Muldowney, "Darkling" by Pieter Kuijpers, "Still Life" by John Knautz, "The French Doors" by Steve Ayson, "Signs" by Patrick Hughes (from the Schweppes Film Festival) or Adam Berg's excellent "Carousel". I'm more familiar with short horror, but any genre would be good, the more the better! What are some great short films? (Forward thanks to the great people who brought us these outstanding films!)
2 AnswersMovies1 decade agoBattlefield 1942 or Medal of Honor Allied Assault?
I'm thinking of buying an older game (I'm easily amused). Which do you think is better and why: Battlefield 1942 or Medal of Honor Allied Assault? I realize that there are more modern games out there, but I'm thinking about something older and cheaper (and for OS X)
1 AnswerVideo & Online Games1 decade agoWhat's a good, upbeat short story?
I'm looking for a short story (5-15 pages) appropriate for late elementary school, junior high, or early high school level students. I'm looking for something funny, or heartwarming, even inspiring. A 'nice' story (so probably no Edgar Allan Poe). I'm looking for something more recent, rather than something older due to the face that older works tend to be a bit wordy and have unnecessarily difficult vocabulary.
If it's online somewhere, so much the better. Public Domain works are best, but if there's something recent that can be found online, that would be supreme. I'll settle, however, for a good short story if it's in a book or something I can order from somewhere.
Any ideas?
4 AnswersBooks & Authors1 decade agoName of this short story?
I'm looking for the name and author of a sci-fi short story. The story takes place in the distant future, and people are living in a city underground. In the story, a boy shows his friend the way out, hoping to let him see the sky for the first time, but when they finally reach the exit, it's raining, and the boy doesn't understand why rain is coming from the sky because when he found the exit before, he saw the sun.
I read this story many, many years ago, possibly in a high school literature book, but don't remember precisely.
Can anyone tell me the name of this story and hopefully the author?
6 AnswersBooks & Authors1 decade agoWhat z39.50 server can I use to get MARC21 library records?
Library question. I have a collection of 2-3 thousand books in my classroom (a special in-class library). I downloaded Koha open source integrated library system software to manage the collection. However, here's the problem: I only have two z39.50 servers installed: Library of Congress and a library in Canada. Where can I find more z39.50s from which to download the bibliographic MARC records?
