  • Is there a site where I can see someone's criminal record?

My new roommates boyfriend is apparently an ex-con who was locked up for burglary. (Yes I have placed an extra lock on my door and keep my valuables in a secure place.) Although I would never be fond of the thought of having someone over with a criminal past my concern could be less/more based on the nature of the crime. Basically I would like to know if he was arrested for something like robbing a store at gunpoint or taking someones iPod.

I live in Delaware if it makes a difference.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Where can I find events to go to in Baltimore?

I'm looking for a more social event like a concert, night club/bar or festival, not so much a museum or tourist attraction.

    Thanks in advance!

  • What are some good alternative vacation ideas?

I'm looking to take a 10 day vacation but have no idea what to do. If it helps I am a 25 year old male who likes the outdoors. I'm not someone who wants to just sit in a hotel room or sleep all day, so I'm looking for something that will keep me active all day. Thanks in advance.

  • How many months of unemployment should we extend to the unemployed?

How long should someone get unemployment benefits before they just have to accept a lower/unskilled labor position?

With people getting benefits for up to 99 months how long can we sustain that entitlement spending?

  • What's a good, free website where one can read financial news?

Besides the obvious sites like Y! and GOOGLE finance is there any other professional website that gives free content on financial news? Something similar to Wall Street Journal but for free. Thanks.

  • What are my rights when getting a speeding ticket from a camera speed trap?

I got a ticket for doing 62 in a 55 as I was caught by a camera speed trap. All I got was the ticket and instructions on how to pay...no picture or anything else. Can I request the picture? I also heard I can request a copy of the service records for the camera to ensure it has been properly installed and calibrated? This true?

I live in Maryland if it makes a difference.

    Thanks in advance.

  • What's a good road running shoe for someone with mild overpronation?

I'm looking for a road running shoe with decent motion control but isn't too heavy or bulky. Shoes like the Brooks Beast are hard to race in although they provide good motion control.

I have pretty flat feet and mildy overpronate so I have a lot of ankle pain after longer runs.

  • Where can I take my mom in Philly where we will both have fun?

My mom is coming to visit me in Philly in a few weeks. I have no idea what to plan so we are both not bored to tears. I am a 24 year old male who's idea of a good time is tailgating at a Phillies game and my mom is more the musical theatre type. IDK how to find a middle ground.

Any ideas are appreciated...thanks in advance!

  • Why are people against the AZ immigration bill?

If the police suspect you of breaking any law they have the authority to stop and question you. Since being in the country illegally is against the law what is the problem with the police questioning someone like they would for any other potential law breaker?

  • Can someone explain to me how social security isn't one big Ponzi Scheme?

I pay social security taxes now which isn't invested but instead it's paid out directly to those who are retirement age. I'm told this is OK because the next generation will pay social security taxes which will go into my pocket. Didn't Bernie Madoff go to jail for this?

Why can't I opt out of social security all together?...I don't pay the tax but I'll never receive benefits. I can get a better return in the market and I don't want the government to try and manage my retirement.

  • Why are there racial lines drawn in who gets federal aid money for college?

Within the 3,000 page health care bill what many people don't know is there was also a bill in there which gave the government sole power to originate government backed student loans. This supposedly will save the taxpayers billions over the next decade by taking out private sector banks which I think is a good thing despite being a bank employee myself.

But out of the 10 billion in savings that is going back to students 30% is for black-only colleges, which make up less than 2% of all colleges nationwide. Federal grant money has always been unequally divided based upon race, with minorities getting more aid. Why do we have racial divides? Federal grant money is supposed to help low income students get to college. Not just low income students who great great grandma is from Columbia.

  • Dying thoughts of an atheist?

What does an atheist think about on their deathbed? "Hey Im about to die and cease to exist for eternity?" I'm not religious and would describe myself as agnostic but I do like to think there is an afterlife or some type of reincarnation. Don't atheists think it's sad that after death you will no longer know any joys of life and never feel the embrace of a loved one again.

Again the logical part of my brain tell me we have no non-physical presence such as a soul and once we die our physical presence decays making our existence finished. But the hope in me says I want there to be a heaven, or I want to be reincarnated so I can continue to live life with the ones I love.

  • Are Christianity and Catholicism the biggest financial scams ever?

Back in the "bible days" the Catholic church demanded its members pay a tithe (usually 15%) in order to receive salvation. A basic premise is that any one, no matter how sinful they are, can get into heaven if they repent. This usually meant going to confession and making a monetary donation to the church. And if you didn't pay for your repentance or pay your tithe your soul will burn in Hell forever...makes it seem like a small fee to pay especially back when people needed something to believe in. The writers of the Bible were smart to realize people needed hope and would eat up this false idea that there is a heaven waiting for them after death...and even smarter to say you need to give to the church in order to get there. Priests have historically been the richest and most powerful members of society. This has changed of course as more and more people have strayed away from religion and the number of devote Catholics has dropped drastically over the past century.

Even today the catholic church remains one of the richest organizations in the world. They spend billions trying to maintain their image, a good example is all the money and time they spent covering up the fact that priests were molesting young boys.

Of course many other religions have tried the same scheme...Scientology asks for "donations" and every cult you can find ends up leaving its followers in financial ruin. But Christianity happened to be the cult that caught on and made its creators the richest and most powerful people of their time.

  • Does the fact not all religion can be correct negate them all?

Some religions' beliefs are polar opposites meaning the both cannot be correct. For example a religion that says there is 1 and only 1 God completely contradicts a polytheistic religion. So both religions cannot have merit as they both cannot exist together.
