Where is it written that Satan was the angel Lucifer?
We (Christians, Jews and others) have all heard the story of how Lucifer was God's most favored angel, and Lucifer got jealous of God, and wanted to take over Heaven and God threw him out, right? The war in Heaven, a third of the angels becoming demons of Satan (formerly Lucifer), etc, etc. Does anyone know where this story originates? I have seen it nowhere in the Bible. Some say that it's in Revelation, but from the way I've always understood Revelation, the two stories are not related.
Any (relevant) answers appreciated.

4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality10 years agoWhile the United States of America may not exactly be the bastion of freedom?
that our forefathers sought to create, are those of you who live here (particularly those of you who were born here) still thankful for the freedoms and liberties that we DO have? And if so, to whom (or what) are you thankful?
Me, personally, as a Christian, I'm thankful to God first. But, putting all matters of faith aside for a moment, I must say that I'm thankful to organized religion. Yes, I said it -I'm thankful for organized religion, (which, quite honestly, is something that I deplore) for without the state-mandated Church of England, our great nation may not exist - or not exist as it does today.

The guidelines for submission said that they take about 8 weeks to read and consider queries. It's been 8 weeks, and I've gotten no response. How much longer before I should just consider myself rejected?

3 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy is it that every time I find a question I REALLY want to answer?
I find that it has been deleted! Enough is enough, people! Can't we just grow up, be mature and let people ask their questions? This is starting to get ridiculous!

19 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoSociologically speaking: Is there anything, anything at all...?
...that everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) can agree on? Anything? (I know that we can't know for sure that every single person would agree on something, but...) I mean, we can't even get everyone to agree that the sky is blue, or that 2+2=4. So, what say you? Do any of you think that there could be even one thing in the world that every single person could agree upon? And if so, could a society be built upon this one thing?
16 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIf Eve hadn't eaten the apple...?
If you take the Genesis story literally (I don't, just to be clear, but just curious what others think), If Eve hadn't eaten the apple, or fig, or whatever the fruit was, would any of us even be here?
This is mainly for Bible literalists.

10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat do you think? (honest question)?
Most people of faith believe that there is a purpose to life and death. For those of you out there that don't, (people of faith or not) my question is this: Is there some internal clock inside each one of us that just eventually winds down? I've always believed in the notion that we will die when "it's our time to go". If there's no higher power governing that, is it just bad luck for those who die in accidents or from illness?
I'm not trying to get anyone's hackels up...I'm honestly curious what your view is.

1 AnswerReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhich is more logical and why?
Why is it more logical to assume that the universe was created from a singularity, rather than assume that God caused it all? Couldn't it be that God created the singularity that caused the Big Bang? And anyway, how did the singularity get into the center of the black hole? And where did the black hole come from? Couldn't God be the "original energy"?
And since we have no idea what IS possible, couldn't ANYTHING be possible? Because science, at this point, absolutely DOES NOT claim to have all of the answers.
Please commence with calling me delusional at this time. Thank you for your time. ;)
