Village Idiot

So, my co-worker leans over to me and says "You have to help me find a video.", and never one to back down from a challenge, I said "Sure, what's it about?"

Her description was incredibly vague. It has an animated dog and monkey in it, probably from the 90's and it's a dance/house type song. She thinks that the band name may have the word "Gorillas" in it (and she says it's NOT Gorillaz) ... the song has heavy drums in it, which the Monkey and Dog are walking to the beat.

The singer's voice is also heavily distorted.

I know it's not much to go on, and I'vecome up with nothing, so I've decided to ask you, the unwashed masses.

Can you help?

Okay. So I'm looking through Yahoo Answers today, and I'm completely amazed by what I see. An inordinate amount of questions are:

"Why are Liberals (Democrats) so dumb?"

"Why are Conservatives (Republicans) so ignorant?"

"Why are Muslims trying to kill us all?"

"Why are Christians stupid?"

"Why are Athiests so blind?"

Black, white, hispanic, gay, straight, etc... we all seem to hate someone.

Now... overlay these questions against what's taking place in North America, and the rest of the world.

Rampant bi-partisanship has brought the US to a virtual standstill from the days 40 years ago when it was developing so fast it was incredible.

People are rabid about their religion being the one, true, 'peaceful' religion... and they'll beat the crap out of anyone who says otherwise... and as such world is on edge because various races, religions, creeds and colors have a hate-on for someone else.

Go on... admit it. You immediately thought the worst of people. You bought into the media hype from the National Enquirer, and a hundred OTHER Tabloid-style papers, and talked around the water cooler about how JonBenet Ramsey's parents had something to do with her death... like you were some sort of forensic investigator.

Even after the police, and judges, deemed that they were not suspects, you had the audacity to think you knew more than they did, and helped her mother into the grave with the weight of the world on her shoulders...

Now... 10 years later, a man has confessed to the murder, citing evidence that had never been revealed to the public...

How silly do you feel buying into the media's hype, and thinking the worst of people... and WAITING for the police to arrest the father so you could say "I told you so!!!" ... huh? Do you feel ANY remorse?

Or do you STILL ignorantly think there was a cover up and conspiracy?

The basic tenets of Christianity deem that some parts of the Bible are parables (stories with a goal?) and some parts are fact. How can I, as a questioning, intelligent human being, put my faith in a book that was written and re-written centuries ago, and that is admittedly interspersed with truths and fables, without anyone being able to accurately tell me which is truth and which is fiction?
